its called 'other work' just meaning time spend not moving is classed as not driving, my driving hours for today would have only been around 4 1/2..basically is another way of the system working us to deaf!!!!!!AM TIRED!!

tis a done deal then. The other halfs brother is a big cheese at Go Outdoors so I'll get him to liberate one for me

Harris Magnum 07-01-2010 10:44 PM

wiring...help!!

I understand where they all need to get to. But they look too close to belts and motors to be safe. I can see cables getting caught and destroyed!

Plus what the hell do I do with the on/off switch on the speed controller - there is nowhere to fix it to??

So is anyone handy with a soldering iron and fancy steering me in the right direction??

Si Coe 07-01-2010 10:57 PM

Cable ties are the answer. And you got a Cat SX because you mentioned belts and the B44 is shaft drive:p

Just double sided tape the switch where you would like it to be - mine sits on top of the servo in the D4.

Harris Magnum 13-01-2010 10:19 PM

almost ready...

3 Attachment(s)
I'm hoping to get the connections to the motor done tomorrow evening and then all I'm waiting for is the battery and charger (and the link for between the servo horn and the steering mechanism that was missing from the box)

Which battery connections would anyone recommend?

Si Coe 13-01-2010 11:52 PM

Deans. We virtually all use Deans.

rob m 14-01-2010 07:18 PM

i use deans too, never had any problems with them, your cars looking good steven, have you managed to get booked in at bury for the 24th?

Hi Rob, yeah the car's not far off now. The charger you recommended arrived today so now all I need is the battery.

I picked up a big pack of deans connectors from JE tonight so I'm cool on them now.

I have loads of pinions from the Mid - will they be suitable for use with the Cat?

I'm on the reserve list for Jan/Feb and March!!! Maybe I'll get a race eventually! I'll be aiming to get down to Roundabout in the meantime or is you guys are going somewhere else I'll consider that too. I suppose I getter get registered for the outdoor races, I'll PM the race controller

Si Coe 14-01-2010 09:14 PM

I suspect that your Mid takes 0.6 modules pinions in which case no the Cat needs something different. The Cat will be 48dp which looks kinda similar but isn't! If I'm right don't get them mixed up!

What motor do you have?

Do you mean on the Cat or Mid?

Gotta say the cats looking good and will go well with that motor looking forward to seeing it in action

Si Coe 14-01-2010 10:20 PM

The Cat - makes it easier to know what pinions you might need. Looks like a Fusion Exceed, guessing the 6.5t then. If so 23/24/25 in 48dp s what you need.

Great I'll be back to JE again tomorrow! Will I need any others for the outdoor racing?

Si Coe 14-01-2010 10:49 PM

Well I reckoned you'd need a 23, so I suggested a 22 for indoors and a 24 for big outdoor tracks as well. Though for Goshen you won't need a big gearing (thats more for Southport) and indoors at Chadderton is HUGE so you won't need a lower gearing either! I just figured a range gives you options.

Harris Magnum 15-01-2010 07:22 PM

battery

Hmmm not impressed. The battery arrived today but doesn't fit  well it will if I move the motor back but then there is no space even the smallest pinion.

So if anyone anyone has a bit more space in their car and needs a 5200 35c at a nice price let me know!

Typical isn't it. I was only in there chatting to him a couple of hours ago!

lipo

did you say you have the exceed pro 6.5t steven? if im right i think that has a 100amp peak,so as for lipo's if you went for the 3600 30c they will give you 108amp the 3600 35c will give you 126amp,shame your 5200 35c dont fit they are 182amp! plenty of power on tap.to work out the amps is as example 30c multiply by 3600mah = 108,000mah divide by 1000 = 108amps.

Yeah shame they didn't fit, pissed me off royal! Anyhow Johnny nitro has some which I am taking off him, from the pictures they look like 5000ma 20 & 30C so I'll still have 100-150a, way more than enough.

It'd probably be a good thing at first to have a bit less power, it might make some of my crashes less expensive!

you dont need all these masive batterys your car can only put so much power down on the track all youl endup doing is wheel spining round balding your tyres making the car harder to drive and putting slower times in ask si coe he will vouch for that lmao:woot:

So my 3700 mah 25c powering a lrp sxx + 5.5 turn x12 motor isn't enough power? What lipos do I need?

I wouldn`t worry about your batteries Dave, i`d concerntrate on your driving :p

You`ve already said before that the X12 5.5 is just too stupid so i wouldn`t go giving it any more juice...

(I never wore the tyres out......)

Harris Magnum 16-01-2010 07:50 PM

The car is running and ready to go! :D Except the missing steering link :(

I can't get booked in for next week (unless about 9 people drop out) but I'll try to call by and have a look at whats going on.

I'll also be trying to get to Goshen on Saturday (23rd) afternoon if anyone fancies a blast?
