This thread is bound to be fake because Ive heared of extreem speeders being given an instant on the spot ban and this is as extreem as it gets. Plus, 140 in a 30 would require a long stretch of road and a very clear one at that. I can't even do 30 on most of the roads round here.

Nice Troll.

bodgit 05-12-2009 11:38 AM

It probably is a fake. 140mph is 2.3 miles per minute that would have to be a hell of a straight road .

theres plenty of roads around here where theres a national speed limit which you could easily do 140 on a bike, which suddenly change to a 30 due to build up of houses etc. So its possible, but dont forget Lee put the post up and he likes doing alot of fishing, i cant believe how gullible people are.

bodgit 05-12-2009 12:08 PM

Exactly. he,s bored now he has no stampy to duel with.
My bike 0-60 2.3sec 165mph but I,ve never been over 30 mph honest

In Lee's friends case it's even worse - >140MPH in a 30MPH zone, >110MPH over the limit. Think about it for a moment - that's AT LEAST 40MPH over the speed limit FOR A MOTORWAY in this country.

IMO, it's fully justified. If you're reckless and dangerous enough to do things like that then I'm afraid it's a time in chokey for you, simple. I know I posted the link earlier about the Solicitor but I truly believe the guy (or gal!) should get whatever the court decides they deserve.

You may not agree with the limits that are set (especially on the motorway) but they have to abided by, or face the consequences. I do a lot of miles with my job (mainly dual carriageways and motorways) and I stick to the limits, but it amazes me the amount of people that don't.

BTW - this is me speaking as someone who has hit a child in a 30MPH zone when they ran out into the road in front of me from between two parked cars (I was doing just under 30MPH as I was accelerating away from a roundabout). The child survived with relatively minor injuries but I felt like crap for ages after, even though it wasn't my fault. Now imagine the same scenario if I was doing 60MPH, let alone 140MPH. How would you like it if it was your child that was hit?

ah but if you had have been doing 60 or 140, you would have been long gone before he ran out.:p there for speed would have resulted in no accident!!!

PaulRotheram 05-12-2009 12:44 PM

Not too sure thats an appropriate comment..

qatmix 05-12-2009 12:49 PM

will need a good solicitor if he is to avoid jail. As long as his speed is tracked the dangerous driving case is pretty tight as its 4 times over the speed limit.

DCM 05-12-2009 10:58 PM

My ex got banned for 3 years, must resit her test to get it back, and a suspended 2 year custodial sentence for doing more than 100mph in a built up area..... unfortunately, she missed totalling the car and herself on the round-a-bout :(

T4miy4 Guy 06-12-2009 07:25 AM

I resently got caught but i was doing 39 in a 30 zone

Took the option a a driving course and fine

Completed the 4 hour course (which was a good refresher as its been 16 years since i passed my test and even tho i went into the course with a negative attitude ,i came out and felt they had taught me something)

regarding this tho 140 is ridiculous in a 30 zone

Andy

Rich D 06-12-2009 09:23 AM

I got caught a year ago in my van. It was a few days before Xmas . I was doing 59 in a 60 ( for cars ). Middle of nowhere, no option for a course, just £60 and 3 points.
 Wa***rs

Lee 07-12-2009 12:31 PM

To be honest, its not a wind up, and the police dont have the car on camera or footage of any recorded speed they only have the speed of their own car, so a solicitor does have a good argument.

I cant really say too much on the case as i dont want to incriminate anyone ;)

DCM 07-12-2009 12:34 PM

to be honest, there can be argument if it is marginal, but that much, you can't really argue.

Lee 07-12-2009 12:38 PM

but dangerous driving is for the prosecution to prove, if they cannot see the car with a camera then how can the human eye see it, it was also at 3am in the morning so all they would have seen is a pair or red lights.

Me too, got the letter last week 36 in a 30. Will be doing the course and sitting up. I'm not excessive, but I do need to slow down.

if this is all true, enjoy the hotel and life changing event. Don't be such a fool.

Think I'll take a police officers version, rather than the person speeding away....

Wonder what the sponsors will be making of this.... I'd cancel the contracts..

Lee 07-12-2009 05:58 PM

Did i say it was me?

Timee80 07-12-2009 06:17 PM

do people still believe this is real? come on people, no copper would do 140 mph themselves in a 30mph zone due to risking more lives in the process. In reality a helicopter would be called and the police car would stay well back.
Well done tho Lee, youve got plenty of posts on this :thumbsup:Lol

Lee 07-12-2009 07:18 PM

The helicopter was called ;)

mikeyscott 07-12-2009 07:27 PM

Oh well whoever it is enjoy your stay with the prision service.

Sorry if this is true I hope the verdict is guilty as it's all plain stupid.

DCM 08-12-2009 11:22 AM

Well, if it is true, then the guy was a cock and deserves a custodial sentence and banned from driving/riding/owning a vehicle too, sorry, thats how I see it.

bodgit 08-12-2009 04:11 PM

How many of the tut tutters can hold up their hand and say I,ve never been over 100.

DCM 08-12-2009 04:16 PM

oh, I have, but on a motorway, not in a 30 zone, and wouldn't do it again, not much point.

MatJohnson 08-12-2009 04:28 PM

Simple way, if its true, and the helicoper was called, find out what force it is and look at the logs. They have to put the details of all movements online so just look there.

bodgit 08-12-2009 04:34 PM

I,ve been lucky this year the roadside camera I did,nt see till it was too late must have been a dummy and the van I rode past a few months back he must have been asleep.

on the way back from the le mans 24 hour race in june 2007, I did folkestone to cardiff in 2 hrs 10 mins - including one fuel stop (on my VFR).

this was between half one - half three in the morning mind - on dry empty motorways.

that said, there's a big difference between that sort of speed on a wide open road, and 140 mph in a thirty zone (which does seem a little implausable).

at the end of the day, if you can afford a vehicle capable of accellerating to a ton-forty in a thirty zone, you can afford to do trackdays! no excuses.

it'll be prison food for that dude, no doubt about it.

bodgit 09-12-2009 07:44 AM

There should be a different speed limit for bikes. Too often a gentle twist of the throttle sends you way over the speed limit.
On a un-named road maybe abroad I have hit 140 with ease and the only thing that stopped me going for top end 155 was my bloody helmet felt like it was trying to tear my head off.

mikeyscott 09-12-2009 08:25 AM

I'm not interested in the crap above.. A fellow Le Mans party goer :)

Time to turn it into something meaningful I.e. a Le Mans 24 thread!

Thanks for your valuable input into this thread anyway Mike, all i asked was for a decent Solicitor, not your opinion or the sentence anyone should get, especially when you don't know the full facts of the case. So in actual fact you have been as much use in this thread as Steven Hawking would be without his magic wheelchair

bodgit 09-12-2009 11:20 AM

Your mate should be grateful he never ran over a cat doing 140. That would call for the death sentance.

Lee 09-12-2009 11:22 AM

Lol why would anyone care about running over a cat

losixxx 09-12-2009 11:22 AM

should post such a stupid threat if you didn't want comments left like they had been.....

in all honesty did you think you'd get anything else....idiot deserves everything thats coming to him

Oh well what shame..

No I can't recommend a solicitor. Have a look in the yellow pages.. ?? Don't think many people are in this "stupid" catagory

I do know someone who picked up a 2nd drink driving ban. He got a year's ban. I think it was the case of how deep your wallet is rather than how good your brief is. He's in that stupid catagory too.

I'll tell you what, I'll have a chat with a traffic officer (friend of mine) and we'll recommend someone.. ;)

Anyway I'll unsubscribe to this thread and leave you be..
