Well it is important, i'll check the handbook.

Mrs oOple 04-05-2007 06:23 PM

I'm sure they will be able to Northy, either a reply in this thread or perhaps e-mail the question to them? I'd say ask both of them, just for most accuracy.

Northy 04-05-2007 06:25 PM

Message to Mrs oOple......

Yeah I know Chris :D But is says commercially available, doesn't mention production. My assumption is that it's to stop people (top drivers) running 'special' one-off tyres that only that team has access to.
I don't assume it is to stop people using up old tyres.

Like the front Losi studs they all used to use in the wet that were never on a parts list?  :o :o :eh?: :eh?:

Thanks Northy, I needed that little reminder.

Chrislong 04-05-2007 07:13 PM

Good point Jimmy.

I was forgetting the fact that commercially available does not necessaryilyly mean still being made. It could mean 1 shop has bought 100 pairs - and therefore commercially available beyond the end of the production run. BUt there is no mention of quantity in 23.7, so a shop could attend with 1 pair = that 1 pair is commercially available is it not?

This rule 23.7 seems to be a black hole, I think the only tyres I would be certain of not being able to use are cut and shuts and prototype tyre only made available to that manufacturers team drivers.... :wtf:

(very) So, if this rule did get tweaked to become specific, it would be a nightmare to police it!

jimmy 04-05-2007 07:37 PM

Never mind tyres, think about all those illegal wheels at Tiverton ! ;) Mentioning no names of course! hehe

modelimages 04-05-2007 07:54 PM

i will be there with tyres and everything else, any body wanting stuff bringing let me know
john

Stu 04-05-2007 08:21 PM

I have asked the question on email.

It's a hazy area.

I suspect the anwer will come back as,

1 - Baby
2 - Ginger
Joint 5th - The two mingers and the lezza one.

super__dan 04-05-2007 09:05 PM

Whilst I agree this is an area Paul/Phil will have to confirm, people were running 2wd front BB spikes (pink I assume) at Tiverton so by precedent (if that counts) they should be allowed???

Stu 04-05-2007 09:17 PM

I've not got a reply yet, but we can only assune that Baby will be #1.

There may be a chance that Paul is more of a Shirley Bassey type however, maybe Sandy Shaw would be in with a chance.

Lulu?

Chrislong 04-05-2007 09:32 PM

Stu, step away from the beer.

Oscar 04-05-2007 09:46 PM

Also to consider, with this now being very much a global sport, if a tyre is sold and readily available in one country, but not neccessarily here in the UK, it is "commercially available" but would it be accepted as legal?

I think essentially if one shop still has stock of a tyre freely for sale to the general public it constitutes "commercially available", however how can this be policed?

Kopite 05-05-2007 09:13 AM

any update on the fittest spice girl?

...and the tyres?

matdodd 05-05-2007 10:10 AM

To you mate its got to be Ginger spice! Maybe with one bad eye :D

andy reeves 08-05-2007 07:26 AM

Looking forward to racing Sunday. I always like racing at Kiddy. I am hoping it is going to be dry so can run shumachar yellows but will by others on the day if the rain does decide to fall.

Car is vertually ready just got to rebuild the front end as had some sort of binding at Oswestry in the final and the front diff now sounds a bit gritty :o

neiloliver 08-05-2007 06:12 PM

Weather forecast looks mixed for the weekend.. sun and showers... might mix things up a bit....

Phil Channon in the A again? :)

emzy 08-05-2007 06:15 PM

Southwell 09-05-2007 12:47 PM

What do you mean by illedal wheels. I know that some people cut the inside gruve off but is that not ok???

SPRCIAL AGENT 09-05-2007 02:08 PM

Also you should be ok to run the bb 2wd tire as some people could run losi 6 row step in at tiv and I ran proline m3 stubbies on the 4wd andthat was ok by Paul. I think that the rule is to stop odd and special compounds coming out to the team drivers.

andy05 09-05-2007 04:23 PM

Are the bb greens people have in stock the old (good) compound or new(bad) or is there a new(good)batch:o

jimmy 09-05-2007 04:26 PM

Thanks for that info mr Barton - just as I'd imagined.

Doomanic 09-05-2007 05:06 PM

According to CML (the current distributor for BB) 2WD fronts are discontinued.

jimmy 09-05-2007 05:13 PM

Good job I have a few pairs then! Having said that, they have far too much grip for me anyway :D

ashleyb4 09-05-2007 05:45 PM

IM anonyed i ordered schumacher yellows on saterday now it rains the day they arrive:(

A

jimmy 09-05-2007 06:15 PM

I ran yellows last year, right laugh in the rain. :eh?:

Rob 09-05-2007 06:26 PM

Doesn't look too bad for Saturday now, looks like chance of just some small showers with sunshine inbetween, getting better throughout the day.

Sunday looks like rain in the afternoon.

PaulRotheram 09-05-2007 07:21 PM

I need some good directions to the track, theres no postcode..the one on the site is apparently not the track and my tom tom wont accept the map refference.

Or using the postcode.. can anyone tell me where to go after ive arrived?

the info page supplied with my nat entry is very vague on directions.. not too good.

You big wuss, buy a map... we've managed on a map with the given directions for years! The only bit that used to catch us out was the dual carriageway at the end... I think we went up and down about 5 times the first year!

PaulRotheram 09-05-2007 07:49 PM

a map is a distraction for my driving, id end up in a hedge :D id prefer mr-t shouting at me to go which way.. much more fun.

i pitty the fool, turn around!

Thats not why it takes so long then? ;)

Stu 09-05-2007 07:57 PM

The instruction sheet supplied this year seems to be an cut-down version.
Has anyone got a preivious years version, the one with the blurb about the bend in the road.
I suspect it will help Paul.

emzy 09-05-2007 08:00 PM

Road? Bend? Eh?!

I haven't even seen this year's info... it "vanished" just before Tiverton...!
