mikeyscott 09-11-2009 04:58 PM

It'll be good enough for you to go racing.

bodgit 09-11-2009 04:59 PM

Stampy take the advice given just a few posts back. Run the car as it is for a while before you go spending money on hop ups.. Find out by experiencing the car youself first not by what is on you tube.

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 05:08 PM

thanks will do i have just got a 5.5turn motor to go init cant wait to try it i will tell you know how it runs etc i phone modelsports they said its a dam good car for racing

jhammond 09-11-2009 05:14 PM

A 5.5t?

I thought you had purchased a 6.5/7.5t Speed passion motor?

Nige 09-11-2009 05:18 PM

And what's happened to the HPI Cyber 10b buggy you bought (didn't you buy two of them?), are you now going to race the Losi instead? :eh?:

jameswilkinson7 09-11-2009 05:23 PM

I would start with a tame motor... 5.5 is a little fast!

You've got a big selection of motors to choose from; if you haven't already found it here's a link for Losi spares ---> http://www.modelsinmotion.co.uk/spar...664&tamiya=664

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 05:59 PM

thanks mate i have tryed look found the manual that it and some bits and bats on ebay but that it for parts etc

jameswilkinson7 09-11-2009 06:00 PM

If I were you I would start with the 8.5 until you get used to it:thumbsup:

jhammond 09-11-2009 06:18 PM

Yes... Well said.

Start with a tame motor Stampy.

You may have an inclination towards whacking the fastest motor possible in all of your previous cars, but you're much better starting with a 8.5t and becoming much more consistent.

At the end of the day, it's no good having a really fast car if you can't drive it properly- especially when racing. When your lap times are consistently quick (consistent is quite a broad term) for a few weeks, that is the time to consider a more powerful motor.

Rather than trying to speed up and down straights outside your residence, why not get a few cones or markers and try to make a rough circuit? Or, ultimately, if possible, try to get down to a local track to race.

Julius.

jim76 09-11-2009 07:05 PM

save your breath Julius. He will just go out and buy a 2.5 touring motor and then come on here moaning that is trashed his car transmission and blew his speedo.

To be honest Stampy i've had enough. I tried to give you a second chance and give you the best advice i have to get you the right 4wd and point you in the right direction, but then you go and throw it back in my face and go buy a xxx4 after point blank refusing to look at belt cars!
Then you send me 5000 PM's about is it any good, are spares cheap, did you get a good deal blah blah blah. I reply, give you my opinion based on running one for over 2 years. Then you have the cheek to publicly criticise my advice and opinions on here!
Indoors it is great, and still one of the best. But outdoors at the time it struggled, and now against the latest cars it will struggle even more.
And spares for it are fairly high. Front graphite wishbones are £12. B44 front wishbones are £5.50
You said money was a problem so you went for the cheaper xxx4, even though it was only £25 less than a decent second hand B44. As i said, you should have waited an extra month and saved up the extra as it would serve you better in the long run. Alternatively, sort out a paypal account so that you can actually pay people on here for goods instead of messing around with postal orders. Then you can list all of your trucks and 11v lipos on ebay where people may actually be interested in them, and put the money into your buggies.

What you don;t do is go off and make an impulse buy, then ask loads of questions about the car because you have no f&*%ing idea what you have bought. Then moan at people if the answers they give aren't what you want to hear!

Good luck with your racing/bashing/trashing. Don't bother to PM again EVER as i'm sick of trying to help someone who deliberately ignores everything people tell him. I have far more enjoyable things to do with mine time, like pull my teeth out.

mw02veg 09-11-2009 07:15 PM

now breath

jim76 09-11-2009 07:22 PM

sorry Grant, needed to vent after all the shit he has Pm'd me!

MALLET 09-11-2009 07:26 PM

HERE HERE Jim well said that man

jhammond 09-11-2009 07:28 PM

Ahhh...

Don't worry... I honestly lost all patience months ago with the chap...

But I pity the guy.

I just can't imagine how fickle he must be with other things?

mikeyscott 09-11-2009 07:30 PM

Stampy.

Get yourself a paypal account makes buying and selling so much easier.

Start with a 8.5! I run a 7.5 in my Cat and it's plenty quick enough. Over a race distance I'm up with the people running 5.5 motors. DO NOT and I'll say it again DO NOT run anything lower than a 8.5, we have a chap at our club who runs a hot motor in his B4 and 3 months on he still can't drive.

Get your XXX4 and STICK with it. I think a lot of people don't want to see another question on what should I buy. You've made your choice, get it built, set-up and race it - END OF!

Do not have any crazy ideas such as "does a B4 slipper fit". Stick with the car as it's mean't to be built!

Racing isn't about the latest kit, (I run a 15 year old XX) it's about having fun and getting competitive. All of which takes TIME. Once I'm more competitive I'm looking forward to going other clubs.

Remember if you ask for someone's advice take it by all means, but don't critcise the advice.

Northy 09-11-2009 07:32 PM

I totally LOVED reading that Jim, nice one

G

jim76 09-11-2009 07:41 PM

mw02veg 09-11-2009 07:52 PM

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 08:24 PM

jimmy the price of the batterys for 1 for the b44 are too much and plus all the gear i need your talking over £500 for 1 car and racing not that inportant to me . to make it on a track for the first time and smash it up like people was doing last time i went racing people was trying to smash my car up leaving me a big bill for 2 car and people are not made of money but you must be mate

mikeyscott 09-11-2009 08:35 PM

I doubt anyone goes racing to smash someone else's car up. Come on we all know how much it costs to go racing.

Get a nice slow motor in the XXX4 and then get round the track.

Many years ago I one the junior indoor championship with a 540 motor in my Procat - How because I could control it and then focus on the racing lines

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 08:44 PM

know i mean they was just smashing into my car the wing was snap in2 and the front arm was snaped of with people jumping the cars and landing on top of my cars . it was just like people was hounding my cars plus i came 5 in the final and i was using a 8.5t and 9t

jhammond 09-11-2009 08:49 PM

I'm pretty sure there was no malice in it Stampy!

An 8.5t sounds pretty perfect to start with!

You'll be fine with the Losi xxx-4.

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 09:04 PM

i can only use the 5.5 .6,5t for racing as all the other motor are sensorless mate and i cannot use them i wish i could

Can you decrease the maxium throttle on either?

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 09:46 PM

acoms 2.4ghz and still wait to get a esc but need a second hand 1 as xmas is here soon what a 4600kv motor in turns

jameswilkinson7 09-11-2009 09:48 PM

Simon... No one was trying to smash your car up... You kept crashing it yourself! You came last because your car was too fast for you to drive! Sorry if it sounds harsh, but thats the top and bottom of it! I watched all your races and don't remember anyone "picking on you"

stampede vxlboy 09-11-2009 09:51 PM

i did no find it funny when people car was just hit them for fun and how did i come last 5 place you said first time i did well ?

Right... So, you actually don't have a Speedpassion motor and ESC?
:bored:

mikeyscott 09-11-2009 10:09 PM

Indeed

When are you going to stop talking such complete bolox?! I was there, James was there, I'm pretty sure Steve and Nick were there, and I'm 100% sure none of us saw any kind of bullying, harrasment, unfair driving or any discrimination of any kind. Why are you constantly trying to play the sympathy card? You slate the club, you slate the drivers, you wouldn't come to the the race meetings, then bitch when we stopped running for the winter. I canot see what your underlying problem is. You want advice that you refuse to take. WE're trying to HELP you. Either be helped or stop asking for it.

yes i have got a speed passion motor and nosram motor but i have not got a esc yet i have got the cash for a second hand 1 but cannot afford a new1

Si Coe 09-11-2009 10:57 PM

Aren't SpeedPassions sensored/sensorless? I.e. you can run both types with them. Which means you can use the 8.5t to start with, and upgrade later on as you get better. Which would work quite nicely as the extra smoothness of going sensored would counteract some of the extra power of the hotter motor.

If you are worried about getting smashed up bring one of your trucks to a Bury indoors meet. In the truck class its total carnage at times but everyone just laughs and carries on!
