it would be a great idea if the RB5 was already available, but i'm not sure it will be here for the first national and Woody would need time to test it and form set ups as he said previously.
we'll just have to wait for next year:(

jimmy 28-03-2007 09:57 PM

Either way I'm sure I'll be doing something similar to what you mentioned - oOple and possibly oople-supporting-shop backed rather than any direct involvement with Kyosho. We'll see.

;) Well Done That Man !

telboy 31-03-2007 12:20 AM

have they had any decent results with this car yet?

jimmy 31-03-2007 12:32 AM

B final at the worlds last time - but that was 2005 and the car has changed a lot since then.

telboy 31-03-2007 12:42 AM

so it hasn't done a great deal in prototype form then?

Hmmm... top 20 at the worlds with only 2 works drivers running the car (who spend most of their time running 1/8th gas).... what more do you expect :wtf:

From a manufacturer with the size and the credentials of Kyosho, I expect dedication to the market they are trying to break back into. With only 2 works drivers who are not dedicated to 1/10th off road, how can the car be anywhere near as good a starting point as the B4 or XXXCR? This seems to be the major hurdle that Kyosho are facing at the moment. As mentioned, the ZX5 is a good car, but it could have been great.

KyoshoK 31-03-2007 11:15 AM

kyosho does ALOT of private testing in Japan... though yes i would like kyosho to sponser more top line drivers.

telboy 31-03-2007 06:01 PM

who tests/drives for them in japan?

jimmy 01-04-2007 11:17 PM

Anyone got one yet then? Seems it came out a couple of days ago

dallasv8 02-04-2007 02:32 AM

ive got to palm off a few of my older tamiyas before i can grab one.i really do like the look of them.
i should have by by the second half of the racing season.i currently put my B4 aside to concentrate on mod truck (RC10T2) and racing the TNX 5.2R.
next half of the season i want to get back to 2wd mod for some fun.
looking forward to the Oople review.

pro4nut 02-04-2007 07:54 AM

joffacn 04-04-2007 04:14 AM

Jimmy

Can you post a link to the manual.

Is there a Cyclone D4 manual on line yet?

Jeff

Lee Martin 04-04-2007 03:27 PM

adatchi or watever, is there test driver...good driver.

millzy 04-04-2007 04:18 PM

that front bulkhead looks like it will fit the b4, and has option kick up.

OldTimer 04-04-2007 05:13 PM

It looks like for sure i could do the front tower in nice 4mm carbon fibre and maybe the rear if everything can attach to flat carbon fibre, anybody got any spare kit shock towers :D

I've never had any Losi wheels/cars so i cant say anything about fitment..
The hexes are 12mm touring car style both front and rear, very "thin" hexes.

Hi All,

2wd is something I am looking to get into, and as someone who is a tamiya diehard, with there not being a tamiya 2wd but also with me not liking running the same as everyone else, I am very keen to run the RB5.

My only concern is how easy is it likely to be to get parts, I like to have spare diffs/gearboxes prebuilt, and also spare arms/uprights etc at all times. Am I ikely to be able to get the relevant parts anywhere?

Also, on the set up side, in a similar vein to an earlier point on this thread, is it worth us having somewhere to bring together setup ideas/findings that we have?

Thanks,

Dave

P.S. Love the reviews on this site!

telboy 04-04-2007 11:41 PM

Thats a good point realy. Is there going to be a shop that will be specialising in the parts for it? wheels, wishbone etc. cos we'll all need loads of wheels. So if any of you shop owners are going to stock a good spares package let us all know.
:)

jimmy 04-04-2007 11:55 PM

I believe 'The Race Place' will be selling the car and stocking the bits.

telboy 05-04-2007 12:09 AM

cool.
It could be worth any shop that is stocking the parts for it PM'ing me. I'll explain when they get in touch.;)

JonBoy 05-04-2007 08:56 AM

Hi guys,

For those who can't wait, here is the link of the RB5 manual.
http://www.kyosho.com/jpn/support/in...tima_rb5_m.pdf

Thanks,

John

telboy 06-04-2007 12:01 AM

what wheels will be usable on the rb5? any ideas?

sosidge 06-04-2007 09:53 AM

The RB5 will use Lazer rear wheels and there is a new width wheel for the front. But you can probably use Lazer wheels there too to run 4WD front tyres.

bender 07-04-2007 12:07 PM

Well I bit the bullet and just ordered one from RC Champ. I couldn't resist at their price - it worked out about AU$50 cheaper than what I could get a B4 for overseas and about AU$200 cheaper than B4 at local prices :o

With regards to what wheels will fit - I heard that there will be an optional axle to run B4/Losi style rims on the back.

Not sure about the front though - even if you could put a Losi-sized hex on the front (the one on the front of the 501X would do) you would still have to drill out the centre of the Losi XXX rims to fit over the 4mm axle.

modelimages 09-04-2007 07:19 PM

Well the kits should arrive tuesday or wednesday, i ordered front wheels as i knew they were specific to the rb5, the rest of the spares i will order once i know which parts are common to the zx5 and which are specific to the rb5, as with all 1/10 off road cars i will be carrying the full range and will have them available at all nationals and mid south regionals. if it arrives on time and is built in time you may see one at tiverton, if it breaks i will have to break into a new kit for spares.

woOdy 09-04-2007 08:48 PM

Hope it does come in time. Would love to see one in the flesh and see how it goes round the track. I think I have a soft spot for this car and please dont hesitate on coming over and asking any questions.:D

jimmy 09-04-2007 09:15 PM

John from Kyosho France showed me the car today at the proline race, well, the kit should I say. Looks pretty good to me. If I didn't know the front wheels were for the Ultima then I'd assume they were for a Losi 2wd - I don't know if they're compatible at all but they do look similar.

DaveG28 09-04-2007 10:36 PM

RB5

Think I will definitely bite the bullet and get one now, all looks good with it, the spares are the only thing I am concerned about!!

May well be ringing the race place in the near future.....

On that front, will you guys be able to order in specific part numbers if I request them, I really do have a thing about gearboxes/diffs (the thing being I am mainly rubbish at putting them together!), so am very tempted to prebuild an entire spare gearbox to pop onto it for changing the diff etc?

All my batterys are saddle pack by the way, I assume there is enough space in there for the wire which is soldered to the ends of some cells?

Also, if anyone has seen it physically run and has any early impressions, I'll be more than glad to hear them!

Cheers,

Dave
