such a waste ?

XMW is very good out of box and this is next evolution...

211XM is finished older XM and XMW...
And sharing parts with older cars ? Why no ?

Chassis, battery mounts and rear suspension mounts and you have a 211xm for a fraction of the cost... everything else is XMW or pre-xmw parts....:eh?::thumbdown:

I doubt will be like this ,I'm sure they made sure parts will not match with new chassis lol

Just wondering will this allow for saddles side by side ?

Bottom of the chassis looks pretty flat, and with no bolts in the way for the seperate sidepods it should probably fit.

We will see.... but knowing Tamiya's Off Road track record as of late it might be 90% of the XMW/201 stuff will work on the chassis:(

So saddles side by side or a transverse shorty will only work if you get the Dremel out... That it's TRF201-based is nothing to complain about imo, but this is something they could've easily incorporated in the car, and broadened the options for this car on low-medium bite...

Still I'm curious about the material they're using for that tub :)

xfactor 14-05-2015 01:24 PM

mmmm whats so special about the chassis. The only difference I see between 201 xm and the 211 xm is chassis material.

What advantage does this chassis have over the alloy.:eh?:

patez 14-05-2015 02:31 PM

I sure hope the gearbox from xmw fits. It would be nice to try out this plastic chassis. XMW is a bit heavy when built with the factory parts. But this could be just right for a low-medium grip. Not going back to rear motor for any condition.

I haven't tried original XM, but people say it was unstable for low grip..

The new chassis looks interesting. Wonder how much lighter it will be? Wonder if it will make the kit cheaper to produce, i.e. more affordable?

I think it lacks shorty battery pack options. All it needs though is some additional mounting holes for some brackets.

Black or white, it just aint as 'bling' as the XMW chassis. Further, I'm with a few others thing they should have made front hex axles. Rear Hexes are easy. I've just got a bunch of 503 versions from Stella. They just don't come with the screws!

xfactor 15-05-2015 11:04 AM

I like the white. It reminds me of back in the day. RPM made a hybrid RC10 with very similar chassis.

Wonder if if could be dyed ???

Which hex you got from Stella? Link? Thanx

These are the ones. You need to order the 1.6 x 4mm screws separately though.

Instructions are out now ...:eh?:

SiR_Dave 27-05-2015 01:59 AM

Also the chassis will be white and here are the part #'s to update a XMW to a 211xm and a general price range too ;)
New Chassis Part#10334079 (100$)
New Waterfall Part#13450694 (18$)
New Rear Battery Brace Part#13404054(8$)
New Battery Strap Part#13404055(12$)
New Rear Brass XA mount Part#13450695(15$)

So for about 150$ you can upgrade a TRF201XMW to a TRF211XM... sounds a lot cheaper to do it that way vice buying a whole new kit

Don't know.......I guess we will see if is worth it to upgrade once the kit is out and somebody gives a go .......

xfactor 27-05-2015 10:59 AM

Apparently 20th June release date. I am curious to how this chassis handles compared to the alloy.

Roel 12-06-2015 08:37 AM

Kit is starting to show up on ebay, costing more then a XMW...

Here

ralphee 12-06-2015 09:55 AM

Im passing, thats insane for outdated old tech, Tamiya, your taking the rise now lol!

Lee

ralphee 12-06-2015 09:59 AM

Really had high hopes for this, but the more I have looked, the more i think its just silly release, no hexes, no other real mods other than a plastic chassis, its like a back dated B5M, and for crazy money, maybe its Ebay price hike time though, it could fall cheaper?

Don't think so, the XMW has also been pretty stable since it was released.
Going up a bit over $400 as it ran out of stock in several shops, and dropping a bit to the $379 it is on now

ralphee 12-06-2015 04:21 PM

Did look on Stella earlier Roel but couldnt find it on there? Still seems a lot for an XMW derivative with a plastic tub, maybe itll go like the clappers lol.

lee

xfactor 13-06-2015 10:57 AM

They did exactly the same at 2013 worlds. Just before the worlds Tamiya bring out the XM. Then at the worlds there is XMW.

Yes Im for development but seems with the 211 xm they are just selling off 201 parts with the NEW CHASSIS being the selling point.

I feel like the XM there maybe a NEW buggy seen at the worlds. I wont be buying this buggy will wait to see what happens at the worlds. If they attend with what driver !!!!!!

Just my opinion.

ralphee 13-06-2015 11:21 AM

Mark i think your just full of......LOL.......as it goes buddy, you have a great theory, could well be the case of shifting a load of obsolete parts, on a cheaper to produce chassis?
Machining the alloy plate, and machined side pods must be way more costly than running out that white composite tub, so yeah, ill buy that buddy haha.
I have no clue who will run the car at the worlds, was a bit let down they didnt really show at the warm up race.
All id ask is a low slung tranny, wheel hexes and ball cups that stay on in a minor knock....and im all over it lol.
I still need a TRF 2wd to adorn my Kifo bodies so i live in hope mate, but if this does fall in price in a big way, id still be tempted, just not at that price.

lee

Origineelreclamebord 13-06-2015 05:58 PM

The release is a missed opportunity in some ways, but don't forget: They invested in a new mould for a car that will not be a best seller... Tamiya is always expensive, but it does sort of explain the price for what's basically a revamped old car, and perhaps in the future that means Tamiya is crazy enough to invest in 15-odd new moulds for a new platform

ralphee 13-06-2015 09:46 PM

I was hoping somebody would work on a low CG tranny for this platform TBH lol!

Lee

xfactor 13-06-2015 09:50 PM

Tamiya are for the worlds. Its the 212 xmw :lol::lol::lol:

ralphee 14-06-2015 09:17 AM

Haha, could well be Mark, hmm, why do i want another XMW all of a sudden, got a TRF kick i cant shake lol.

lee

ralphee 20-06-2015 10:06 AM

Anybody bought one as yet? Pondering ordering one next week, along with some B5 front hubs to run all my wheels!

lee

Roel 21-06-2015 06:59 PM

All the parts cost 155$ USD after the yen to dollar conversion.. The rate is very good currently so took advantage of it... But shipping to me is about 30$ via EMS...
