I was lucky enough to be shown the XB2 prototype today at the euros by the team and I've got to say I was very impressed. Obviously details can't be shared as yet but it's gonna be worth the wait. Some great ideas and innovations in the car. Very interesting. It isn't far away now so get ready guys. It's gonna be mega.

andoiwebb 07-08-2015 09:04 PM

Agreed!

alex97 11-08-2015 03:27 PM

Is this car going to be released this year or next year?

andoiwebb 12-08-2015 02:32 PM

Soon.

ralphee 19-09-2015 05:31 PM

Blimey, looks rapid at the EOS, just watched legs one and two, some great racing!

The car they used at the EOS is pretty much looking like a YZ2.

ralphee 21-09-2015 02:21 PM

Looks a very close call to the YZ2 layout for sure, just a few little differences, i mean, doesnt seem to have a waterfall brace, more like a carbon plate/tweakboard?
Very impressive though, didnt really shine at RHR, but watching it at the EOS, looks a very quick car in the right hands.

I wonder if the rear carbon plate will be changed on the production car , other than that it looks good! .

did it not say that the kit will come with 2 gearboxs one for high and 1 for low grip

tomtom 15-11-2015 11:42 PM

Seems like there will be a Carpet/Astro edition and a dirt edition, preorders have been opened at Xray shop showing two kits at 374€ each.
We don't know much more.

How much will be needed to convert the carpet version to the low grip version? Something more than the gearbox?

Not sure what part of the thread its in but is says they went back and redesigned it so it would work with both gear boxes, I would say it comes with two cases :)

shaun m 16-11-2015 08:44 PM

Yeah that was the way i read it / hoped it would be like that :)

I'm soo eager to buy a new 2wd !

tomtom 16-11-2015 09:48 PM

I too really wait for that one.

Looking at this link could be useful :
http://www.xray-shop.at/shop/index.p...5psqcrpb7tu1q4

From my understanding the dirt car will be built around a regular mid gearbox (motor should be close to diff for more rear grip) that could be reversed for a proper rear motor. Most of the composite parts of the dirt edition could use medium composite for flex. Ball diff. Composite shock tower.
Carpet car will be built around a low rider gearbox using hard composite for less flex. Gear diff. Carbon shock tower

Beside that Aluminium parts will be available (steering, rear hubs, front hinge pin block, front center link holder, etc).

Graphite arms also for carpet car for ultra high traction.

That seems a very good idea to go that far playing with composite blend, pretty impressive.
Still wondering about composite and carbon chassis.

Please bear in mind I just try to understand where they are going from the parts list, I have no info from Xray or else, just very excited about that car. So pure speculation, not real info from Xray.

It's refreshing to see a RC car manufacturer addressing these two different track types, loose low grip dirt style and high-grip astro and carpet tracks.

Clever marketing campaign with the 2 articles also. Perhaps other RC car manufacturers will take note and follow suit.

Schumacher KF2 offers 3 motor positions for all surface types.

The losi 22 was one of the first cars i'm aware of that offered an out the box option to switch between mid and rear motor configs.

That was followed by the Durango 210 which offered 4 motor positions in 3 and gear transmission which covered all surface types out of the box.

Ross 20-11-2015 08:24 PM

I may just have to order one 😆😆😆

I was really looking forward to this car and although it looks great, I must admit I'm a bit bored with it all. It took has taken so long to actually appear that the novelty has worn off.

Not only but to find there are two different versions is a it of a joke in my opinion. Doubt I'll bother with one now.

dibble34 20-11-2015 09:53 PM

Looks like the release info is a bit mixed up as well, says carpet high grip comes with ball diff? Does look very similar to yz2.
