Hi Gav

Knock me off the list for tomorrow please, looks like heavy rain all day tomorrow, don't fancy getting soaked.

Good luck with the new track and I will see you when it gets a little warmer

We'll monitor it round by round Chris and move the track around any puddles if needs be

themyster 05-04-2014 04:36 PM

If the weathers still bad I'll be giving it a miss tomorrow, I'd like to still run but haven't got any wet weather tyres.
I'll deside in the morning.

evertonal 05-04-2014 05:01 PM

Bb greens front / rears ?

Gavin Collingwood 05-04-2014 07:26 PM

Don't think we have bb's but we sell various Schumacher tyres so people could try schuey silvers or greens

Si Coe 05-04-2014 07:30 PM

Only Schumacher greens and yellows and only rears I think. No silvers, no 2wd fronts.

But green schuys work ok on our astro in the wet even if Gav thinks they don't despite never having tried......

losichris 05-04-2014 07:34 PM

ok cheers guys, should be fun having a slide about :)

J77MYF 05-04-2014 08:19 PM

Hi,

Can you let me know the post code and any directions I need when close by?

Looks like we're going to need some carrier bags!!

Si Coe 05-04-2014 08:25 PM

BL9 9RG
Its really simple - Just carry on down Tennyson Ave and the park entrance is on your right after the bit where the road narrows.
When in the park, stay on the road rather than enter the car park and follow it round to the back of the red brick house - that is where we are.
Once a few people are there its pretty obvious.

J77MYF 05-04-2014 08:31 PM

Thanks for that

birdy 05-04-2014 08:36 PM

Booking in online is now closed.

For those that are concerned the track holds very little water, areas that did have been been raised with stone so the water drains away better, we can also change the track if we do have any at all.

Dont forget booking in will open at 9:30am and racing starts at 10:30am

They work but not as well as bb greens
Gazebos, transmitter muffs and waterproofs at the ready!

It is a 1/10th car.

themyster 06-04-2014 06:44 AM

Sorry guys it's looking to wet for me and I'll come when it's a dryer day for racing, cheers Mike B.

Lee1972 06-04-2014 04:32 PM

Thanks for today, both me and Callum enjoyed the new track and hopefully we'll be able to get over more often. Finally big thanks to Pitman Ed for giving us two idler gears

J77MYF 06-04-2014 08:03 PM

Had a really good time today. The track was brilliant and the meeting was well run. It gets a big  from me and I'll definitely be back in the future.

NeilRalph77 06-04-2014 08:21 PM

Yep, well done new tracks a great improvement over the old one, should be even better once it's settled down and finished off, well run in general shame about the weather, my only suggestion would be to run the loop at the bottom of the slope giving more straight to work with for the grid, we'll be back for definite, cheers Bury! oh no another suggestion more gravel around container and down to where you had the geny it started getting a bit sloppy. Thanks again.

jameswilkinson7 07-04-2014 08:10 AM

Great track guys, looks like Bury metro is back, with a great track!!

Good days racing, I wish I had brought the Cubed instead of the S! High grip cars in the wet don't work so well! But I was happy to get some wet practice with it. Learned a few things on the new car so I'm happy with that.

I'm looking forward to getting there again, weekly meetings?

Gavin Collingwood 07-04-2014 09:17 AM

Weekly meetings will depend on si and how many people we can get trained to do race control. I would expect in a few weeks when we have more people to do race control there might be a possibility of weekly meetings as supposed to fortnightly. But it's to be discussed

Simion Wabs 07-04-2014 09:59 AM

A fab days racing yesterday desite the variable weather conditions. New track was brilliant to drive and also very technical to keep you fully focused throughout.
Well done to all the Bury Team who have produced a fantastic track that many clubs will be envious of.
Enjoyed the running commentary in the latter heats/finals, this keeps the onlookers more entertained as to what is happening in the race.
Marshalling points could be permenantly numbered to avoid confusion as to where you are supposed to marshall. (laminated A4 numbered sheets)
As per earlier post, I agree that a slightly raised path between race control and car hold area would hold up better in bad weather than what is already in place. Heavy pedestrian areas started to get very boggy by theend of the day.
Overall though this takes nothing away from the fantastic efforts put in by the Bury Team. 10/10

Darren Wales 07-04-2014 10:24 AM

Thanks

Really enjoying the positive feedback gents, keep them coming.

As you know the track isn't 100% finished! but we couldn't resist going ahead with our planned opening and despite the weather forcast we actually did very well to avoid rain for most of the day. :D

Primarily the meeting was to test the track and to that end, it held up very well throughout the day.

Thank you Neil and Simon for the feedback, it has always been our intention to make the area around the track, hardstanding, particularly around the starting platform. The wet weather did stress this needs to be done ASAP.

I personally enjoyed the meeting, despite dropping out of my final, just seeing plenty of smiling faces as well as some new faces and everyone enjoying themselves was great.

The most common comment was
" The track looks great and the pictures don't do it justice! The contours are spot on! "
So don't just look at the pictures, GET DOWN AND SEE IF FOR YOURSELVES AND RACE!

Keep an eye on the calendar.

Darren

Hi Guys,

Really enjoyed myself back outdoor racing for the first time in 25 years - so much has changed (no more grass:thumbdown:) so it was a steep learning curve but managed to get some sort of result out of the day.

With regards to the track, its clear that Bury Metro RC Car Club have and are continuing to make huge improvements to their facility - the track is excellent and a challenge to all which, you should be congratulated on - my only comment on the way yesterday was set up is that having the table tops and the straight running in opposite directions is not great and perhaps some protection is required to avoid wayward cars from being hit flat out.

Dont think Ill leave it 25years before my next go!!!

We normally have numbered cones for the marshals and better marshalling bibs but somebody forgot to grab them from the indoor venue. We are going to fill a path of gravel on the ground towards the waiting platform so that should also solve the muddy area there. We are also intending on getting more fire hose filled so we have more track markings so we can waste less of the track space all to be done in the coming weeks
