New Cougar 2 Works parts !!!!!!!!!!

So after getting a New Cougar 2 Works chassis in packet, I have also been able to gain the following new in packet parts for the Cougar 2 Works, including a mod we used to do on the front wheels. This was called a 2WD Twin Track Mod this was 2 bearings in the hub rather than just the standard 1. This would prevent the wheels from play/wobble with the aid of the double bearings.Shown in last picture.

Moozo 03-03-2014 04:13 PM

Mmmmmmmmmm very nice:drool::drool::drool::drool:

Bugger! guess I'm looking for some longer hinge pins now! any idea on part numbers? I got the brace, cheers Moozo!

DerbyDan 03-03-2014 04:38 PM

Very nice - well Jealous!:D (especially of your chassis)

I've got the twin bearing mod on my Works - really helps take out the slop in the front wheels :)

Northy 03-03-2014 04:40 PM

What is this twin bearing mod?

Didn't a lot of people use RC10 caster blocks, steering arms and wheels back in the day?

Hi Northy,

Yes that was something else that was done 25 degree cast with hubs RC10 off the Team car.with RC10 wheels....... But also the 2WD Twin track was used.

Its basically 2 bearings in the front hub, When I start the build I will high light this part so all can see.

Moozo 03-03-2014 06:31 PM

There's still one of these mods out there, but its a bit pricey

BORMAC 03-03-2014 07:27 PM

Nice! The right parts are all still around (at the RIGHT price that is).

DerbyDan 04-03-2014 10:58 AM

Twin bearing mod Vs standard - the bearing mod also widens the track slightly.

Works vs Team shock towers !!!!!!

After some careful examination of the shock towers between the Works and Team plus new carbon towers of fybre lyte reproductions there is a few changes between them.

The Team rear tower has 6 holes for shock positions.
The Works rear tower has 5,,,,, 3 at bottom and 2 at the top, also the cut shape of the Works rear tower is different to the Team.

Fybre Lyte make carbon towers but these are the Team versions. Do you know if they make the Works version of the rear tower. Have any of you had them made...... as they only show one type of tower on the site (Team).

Hi Peaky.

You would like me to remind you why I bought a Cougar 2 Works to restore/rebuild no promblemo.

Ok I ran the Cougar 2 Team and Works back in 1991 and 1993 when both were released as stated. After seeing Chrissy C rebuild it brought back fond memories as stated, and I wanted both cars again. I put a wanted for both cars in the wanted section but got no replies. Then Chrissy C stated there was some on Ebay. I searched Ebay and got the Cougar 2 Team, which I did a thread on.

Now for the Cougar 2 Works, this was the daddy of the Cougar 2s so still wanted one. After searching Ebay WOW there was one. So i bid like everyone else and won it.

I was,

1. Very lucky to get a Works
2. Get spares with the Works as shown at start of this thread.

So once getting the Works I went to work replacing parts that were needed. This is what I intended on doing from the start. I was also very lucky to find the parts new in packet that I did.

The parts I have replaced have need to be replaced. The gearbox is original along with plates, internals, slipper, bumper, front top bracket, steering assembly and ballraced steering to name a few.

I know that there are guys/girls on here that are still looking for stuff to replace there plastics on there Cougar 2 Works. But like stated I have been very lucky to get all parts I needed so quickly.

Alot of the Cougar2 Works is still the original parts but this is what I thought it was about rebuilding or restoring buggies searching and finding new parts which is what I have done.

I have had alot of help from oople member's on here with parts who I have thanked along the way on each build.

Like yourself you are searching for parts for your new build and I for one have sold you a vintage part.

I dont not think you could buy all parts separate and build a Cougar Works from scratch, you would not get box, instructions and all paper work either. But I may be wrong.

Hope this helps you if there is anything else you need reminding of please post again..........

Oh and more photos coming of new parts for the Cougar 2 Works that turned up today............:D

xfactor 12-03-2014 12:33 PM

Original turnbuckles before/after.

So been polishing up the original turnbuckles. Picture on left before, right is after. Just a little more polishing before they are fitted to the Cougar.

xfactor 12-03-2014 12:43 PM

New 2wd twin mod with original hubs, castor blocks and steering arms.

So been building up the new 2wd twin track steering mod. This is 1 of the mods we used back in the day. This was to stop the float and wobble of the front wheels. After running the Cougars for a while the wheels would generate play. As mentioned in a previous post, the other mod that people did was to fit castor blocks, axles, steering arms, bearings and associated RC10 wheels all parts from the RC10.

But here we have the Schumacher Twin Track Bearing Mod.........:D

OptimaFan 12-03-2014 01:39 PM

Shame those black metal turnbuckles always tend to rust. I like the dark metal color these have when new, but shiny probably is better than rusty.

Peakey 12-03-2014 02:21 PM

Shiny is always better. And that part turned up today safe and sound thanks mark
