Not sure where I am going to go now, BMM have limited 10th scale, radio racers are ok but it's still a 50 mile round trip.

Any other ideas for local shops with good stock of tyres and xray parts?

freddie 19-11-2013 08:26 PM

I have seen what they are doing in the shop they are all giving it 110%

Radio Racers is also closing its doors for good at the end of this month :(

discostu 19-11-2013 10:58 PM

Well I suppose look on the bright side as it seems apex models had taken over Je models.

Thank god for mb models and eBay it's a shame I will never buy from je (apex) again apex customer service is just crap.

Sorry apex bad experiences stick.

Radio Racers closing??? Not another one :(

DanB4 20-11-2013 01:46 PM

Oh to have a good shop anywhere near within driving distance......or even in the country! Missing my racing!

Hence going to Bangkok for TITC in Feb '14

spud31 20-11-2013 04:21 PM

Motto support your local shop, there can also do mail order like the big boys

Si Coe 20-11-2013 10:38 PM

The thing is JE WAS our local shop, DID do mail order and we DID support it. But its still gone down south.
Of course JE is a little odd because it hasn't gone bust due to lack of support - it was successful before the sale its just the owner no longer wanted it. But it still leaves BMM as the only shop serving the whole Manchester region.

johnnygibbon 21-11-2013 01:59 AM

Are we forgetting rossendale models here
My first choice generally

budfish 21-11-2013 09:24 AM

+ 1 for Ross mods

Crazy L 21-11-2013 09:59 PM

So Apex now run JE:o. Does that mean the website's gonna be full of stuff that you order, but don't actually receive for 3 bloody weeks because it wasn't in stock and no one bothers to let you know unless you ring them after a fortnight.

Don't me wrong, Apex are ok, as a shop. As a website, and consequent communication, or lack thereof, sucks monkey jizz.

3weeks

You done well I ordered a set of lrp Vtec 24 tyres back in 2007 8 months before they turned up I rang them they said they were on back order apex is a joke of a shop.

Crazy,

Apex are using the versatile JE Software that is directly linked to the website stock. I went in there today and Richard needed to log the bits out before I left, so it's all real time.

They are all working really hard to get everything working smoothly and it appears to be working.

The sweets will continue!

You waiting 8 months for a tyre delivery? Fool

I'm guessing his card had already been debited at time of order as opposed to when item was ready for dispatch.

I appreciate you sticking up for them Dudder, we really do have to support our local shops, as its all too easy to buy from hk for cheapness. Like I said before, nothing wrong with the actual shop itself, quite helpful iirc, and I've spent a fair chunk of wage in there over the last two decades. It is just that in life, and media, you only ever hear the bad things, and shit sticks.

Good thing though they're trying to keep the JE reputation alive, now, If they could only apply live stock level to their own website.

Good luck to them on the task ahead.

Dudders 22-11-2013 07:27 AM

I think that will happen shortly, or they'll just keep the one system

Hey Neil

Yeah 8 months card debited numoros phone calls kept getting told they will be here next delivery etc etc

The point is the site showed stock I ordered and the shop doesn't have it they take your money and tell you it's on back order not a good service IMO.

Anyway like I said bad experience means I will never buy from apex again.

2007 was almost 7 years ago, it's probably time to let that bitter grudge go.

Ross mod are mainly 5th scale though there are no 10th shops locally now. Insideline for me from now on. Super fast, Kev is very helpful and they have a huge stock in Kyosho parts

racingdwarf 22-11-2013 10:25 AM

If they are going to use JE's live system (heard these cost a fortune:woot:) then the dark days of pages of parts that are not in stock should be gone, A good thing as I have also fallen foul of thinking great, they have what I need, order it...then wait, then phone call and low and behold the part was never in stock and is on order with the importer:thumbdown:

lets sit back and see what they come up with once they have all got settled in, with luck all will be JE as normal:thumbsup:

P.s +1 for insideline and kyosho

Hog 22-11-2013 10:29 AM

Bought B4 front hubs Monday they arrived Wednesday (with sweeties). Ordered something for my SC10 yesterday and was dispatched almost immediately.

Looks good so far although I must admit I've never had an issue with Apex in the past at all.

IIRC As far as the distance selling regs go, that's very naughty. Not allowed to take the money until the goods are in Stock/ready for despatch. (It's a while since I've used apex, so not had to check up on it lately)

K-Brewer 22-11-2013 11:45 AM

I spoke to them yesterday an asked if I ordered a receiver yesterday could I get it today, it's now just been delivered so keep up the good work guys

The phrase "cut your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.

I appreciate you had a bad experience but to be honest that can be the case wherever you shop, but it that a true representation of the standard and quality they give on a daily basis? The answer is no, this i would happily say is what you found with your experience with Apex. They have made massive changes to their systems and quality assurance procedures to ensure excellent customer satiasfaction which is why we should sometimes test the water again so to speak.

If you get dumped by a girl do you think they are all broken, no. You may feel bad but you then test the water again and date another. Dont let one bad experience X amount of years ago be your fixed judgment. Things change, people move on, processes and satisfaction improve.....etc

But its a buyers market and there are other shops to use, so no cutting nose off.

Yes...

However if you have a bad experience with a shop you just go elsewhere..

And that is rightfully his choice. Lets not though slate good British model shops that have made masive online improvements to supply "us racers" a quality service. Lets base these things on current data.

I for one am really happy (but equally understand the dissapointment for our northern brothers and sisters that have lost their local model shop) that Apex has taken over and kept JE Models alive as they now become a one stop shop for me, be it local pick up or mail order depending on how lazy i am :)

im not slating anyone off, just pointing out, when someone has a bad experience, there are other options available and once used if they give a better experience, then you stay loyal. weather or not the original problem has gone/changed does not mean you have to go back or even give them a second chance

Dudders 23-11-2013 12:05 AM

I had a girlfriend once..... She went off with another bloke...... I wouldn't go back, not even for sloppy seconds.... she was a bit frigid.... And didn't go down under.....

However 7 months for tyres, reeeeeeeeeally! :woot:

Hey Birdy,
How about starting a new shop, seeing as this change leaves a hole in this area.
Model shop at Trafford centre also shut, this shop didn't do competition, but that leaves a hole in the toy - railway/static models/scalextric section

Yeah maybe but still won't shop their reliability and good service goes a long way in my book I wouldn't treat one of my customer like that anyway that's my opinion

Nuff said

Look on the bright side that set of tyres contributed to winning the carpet wars for the 4th time so not all bad.

;-)

Dudders 26-11-2013 05:54 PM

Maybe if they had been on time you would have used them earlier, purchased a dud set for the wars and came last! Every cloud buddy!

discostu 26-11-2013 06:02 PM

Ha anyway I will hold my judgement for now see what feedback apex Je have and take it from their and hope things have improved

Good luck guys

You also need a lot of money to make a wage from it.
