It clearly says only 1 picture, so no second chances :D

 leaves us a chance at 2nd or 3rd prize

EDIT: been looking around a bit myself: sunshine : no prob, but scenery? Darn, does anybody appreciate dirty grey office buildings against a colored sky?

If I got a different entry to submit I would be removing my current one :p

If you set the shot up properly then you could have a very interesting, contrasting image there, have a go and see what you can come up with, always worth a try.

Whatever you do, I think you have a good shot at the main prize. I was just razzing: in a good mood tonight.

Well, the sun's gonna get up in less than 6 hours again: I guess I won't be taking sun-rise pics tomorrow :woot:

Foppa 15-08-2008 09:08 PM

Entry closing date will be August 25th,

telboy 16-08-2008 08:59 PM

So far there are only 3 that have 'SUNSETS'.

I had cool one the other day, but by the time I'd got the camera and car sorted....it set.:eh?:

josh_smaxx 16-08-2008 09:02 PM

Only reason mine isnt up is because we havent actually had a sunset this far north yet.

b4rs 19-08-2008 09:33 AM

hi all, its been raining the last 2 days here hasnt it jimbob....:( i got on mi scoota and rid for about 5 miles radius looking for a suitable position but still nothing...:(:(.

only 6 days left....

mr. ed 19-08-2008 01:47 PM

basic question:
is there any minimum requirement for the size?

I think I shot my entry picture yesterday (that's unless I can get a better sky before the end date).
Unfortunatelythe one with the best angle's a tad blurry and I'd want to size it down a bit to gain sharpness.

Is 800x600 ok , and do you need a larger size original later?

jimmy 19-08-2008 01:48 PM

800x600 is fine :)

Could you give me a link? I prepared my yr-4 vintage tourer for the race this weekend and got it ready just in time... to miss sunset.
But I did get a nice nightshot I could post inthere.

Hope you like it :)

glypo 19-08-2008 07:55 PM

Well I fell out of a tree today getting photos for this competition.... it's not easy.

Today was first (good) sunset I have had here since the competition started, but sadly my grandmother got rushed to hospital about 5pm today so I've had to stay at home and act as the information relay via phone. Hopefully things will be good for her, but I couldn't miss out on perhaps my only sunset before the date is up.

Not being able to leave home, I got creative and tried to make things look nice in my garden. Big garden but sadly loads of trees obscuring the sky. So, cordless phone in pocket, ZX-5 in one hand and very expensive camera in t'other I climbed a tree to get results. It turns out it's hard to keep track of your balance looking through a viewfinder. A sore bum and broken wishbone on the Kyosho prove that, fortunatly I saved my camera. Ironically the photos from in the tree weren't great either looking at them now!

We better have more sunny evenings!

mole2k 19-08-2008 09:42 PM

I certainly think you should win something for being the most determined Glypo :D

jimmy 19-08-2008 09:51 PM

That is extreme! dedication, that's what it's all about!

I'm sorry about the lack of time guys - but I'm confident we'll all have a chance to get some nice photos! :woot: I'm going to do one of course

James, love that photo! it's mad!

Mrs oOple 19-08-2008 10:18 PM

Glad your camera is ok Jason, and hope your Gran makes a fast recovery.

For those who are struggling to get the right photos, just bear in mind that this isn't going to be judged based on who has got the best camera, it's all about who can be the most creative with what they have.

Anyone who is concerned about the rubbish weather we've been having, I chose sunsets because many rainy days that we've had this year have turned into really nice evenings. Really though, be creative with light... the sun doesn't have to be in the photo, but dramatic lighting caused by the setting sun / weather conditions. See what you can come up with. Also, sunrise - what's that? I don't wake up early enough to see the sunrise, but if you get dramatic lighting first thing in the morning, see what you can achieve from that.

There's no harm in entering the competition is there, no-one has won yet, and it's the competitors who judge the competition.

So... happy snapping!
x

mole2k 19-08-2008 11:10 PM

Sunrise is often far better for taking pictures as the air is clearer so you get less haze and raised dust so you get nice colourfull light a lot more often... there is that getting up bit to taking pictures then though :p.

dramatic lighting??? ok, ill book my tickets to see the northern lights.

mr. ed 20-08-2008 02:04 PM

I went home a little earlier today so I could get to the park with Nagoya castle before dark (way too early in japan).
The castle ground has a big wall and some water round it... sunset, 30 degrees c and water; BAD combination: after I made 3 mediocre pics, I already had 9 mosquito bites
