Looks like full RRP is £9, I've contacted Adam, maybe he can do some sort of deal, hopefully thru Peter.

G, can you run all this past Phil, it's important he thinks it's a good idea.

Northy 09-10-2006 07:38 PM

The vintage class was agreed at the York AGM, and it was Phil who suggested the 20t HPI motors.

What else do I have to ask him?

I know this is going to be a championship, but the main thing is to have fun.

Unlike nats next year, we'll allow you to 'cut & shut' tyres to fit your rims Jimmy! :D

Not sure if anyone saw the "brass beast" run at batley, but it was the most fun bit of racing ive had. that was part rough rider / part kyosho scorpion. weighed a ton, handled crap and was generally total rubbish.. but what a laugh.

Happy with a mere £9 motor outlay, now to sort out equally cheap tyres! 2" Mardave spikes at about £10 the set?

Edit: Just looked at the York calendar and I can't make the first Vintage meeting, at a 30th birthday do :( Guess I may just run the Cobra in the NE winter series instead :D

Stu 10-10-2006 06:50 PM

Can haggis be cooked on a 2 ring stove on the moors?

WHITTLER555 10-10-2006 08:01 PM

Probably not! Best just sticking with soup and the Northern delicacy of beanz and sosidges!

Northy 10-10-2006 08:04 PM

Fine, talk among ya senz!

Ignore me.

G

Stu 10-10-2006 08:11 PM

Stu 10-10-2006 08:26 PM

emzy 10-10-2006 10:17 PM

My Daddy says he's interested...

But is a Tamiya Madcap old enough... or a Bosscat? I said no to the Bosscat? But the Madcap?

Northy 11-10-2006 07:13 AM

Both would be fine Emz, you can both race :D

jimmy 11-10-2006 03:00 PM

I wonder if we could have a way of making it EVEN MORE balanced, and have weight handicaps for better cars.
you know, a 1990 rc10 with long arms is always gonna be lightyears ahead of a tamiya frog. So, I wonder if there could be a way of balancing things out, or is that stupid ?
All the cars having the same motor is good of course, just an idea I though i'd thow out there.

I fancy a tamiya lunchbox to race, haha.

LOL! my cousin had one. the others would need to tow a trailer of lead to make the race equal!!

Bosscat. awesome. possibly my favourite ever car. all shiny carbon fibre and the fact i lapped the club champion (current top 10 national rallycross driver) at my first ever meeting with it!

i wish i lived up your way as this series will be great fun. :(

We should be able to do this - I think we'll be able to agree amongst ourselves on the night.
When I ran the XX at York I really enjoyed having a lap start on Stu Mahon & Danny - trying to keep ahead of them for as long as poss.

WHITTLER555 11-10-2006 04:17 PM

I know what you mean Jimmy, Frog v RC10, I think most of us are doing it for fun so we could start the better cars off like we did with the driver formulas at the Interclub?

what da ya think??

Stu 11-10-2006 04:19 PM

I'm going to ASDA soon, any extra special requests?

jimmy 11-10-2006 04:20 PM

That should be cool yeah. I really fancy some fun racing.

WHITTLER555 11-10-2006 04:24 PM

ASDA, just get enough teacakes, soup, beanz, crisps, lager, I already have bitter.

Are we doing brews? if so basic ingredients required, will sort you out for the dosh tommorrow.

Pick you up 6.30pm to 7.00pm.

Do we know if Jim Dixon has gone up there??

Stu 11-10-2006 04:30 PM

Anyone know about Jim.... G....

Goozer wants some lager.

WHITTLER555 11-10-2006 04:44 PM

Have you seen the where did the hobby go, thread. Very interesting.

I think you should put a post in explaining how you did the Nationals and Regionals this year on 2 sets of tyres and still attained an F3 licence.:D

Stu 11-10-2006 04:47 PM

OK. I'll post something.

Stu 11-10-2006 04:52 PM

I'm not reading all that crap, I got bored of it after the first paragraph of the first post, never mind 3 pages.

No, I'll stick to posting about spoons & stuff.

Stu 11-10-2006 05:09 PM

Done it - am I right?

Jim is there, wish I was :(

G

Stu 11-10-2006 05:48 PM

Get your booking in for the vintage you slappa.

Northy 11-10-2006 06:02 PM

What car?

Are we running the handycap formula?

G

Stu 12-10-2006 04:27 PM

HPI & Mirage are both interested in supporting in some way.

However - this may fall thru due to the fact that nobody is actually comitting to this and booking themselves in, only two so far and one of them is me!

I've teld Adam that I'll contact him next week with how many have booked in - hopefully he will be able to supply motors (at some good rate) for these people.

It seems the wrong way around that the potential sponsor is keen, but the drivers are not. :(

Northy 12-10-2006 04:44 PM

Come on guys, get booked in! I know I haven't yet, but thats due to a technical glitch. :(

Stu, you can book Jim in, but as you know he's away.

I'll try and round up some other.

Stu, can you forward the email you got to me so I can pass it on to Phil, I think he should really see it.

Cheers,

G

jimmy 12-10-2006 04:53 PM

I'll try book in from home. it doesnt seem to like it here.

Stu 12-10-2006 04:58 PM

Good stuff

Northy 12-10-2006 05:05 PM

From a quick tally up I think the following people have shown interest in racing:

Andys
P B
Jimmy
Col
Emz Dad
NeilD

So if your on the list above and haven't book in yet, then you better have a good reason! :D

Up to date entry list: http://www.northernracer.com/york.htm

Cheers,

G

jimmy 12-10-2006 05:08 PM

Im sure I might be able to convince john to get that kyosho javelin (optima) together for it also.

I think we should have a rule where you need to "wear" your frequency on a ribbon hanging from your transmitter. and possibly have the cars number attached to a triangle on the aerial on the car.

you might get some more people racing, if you publicise it on TAMIYACLUB.com
loads of vintage nutters on there.

just let them know, if they turn up with technigold powered avante, they can go home. :p

I have to be honest - I'm tempted! especially as it's my local club, but the mardave is missing esential parts and I've no idea where to get them from. Plus (if memory serves) it runs slightly different size wheels and tyres - can you still get these?

Northy 12-10-2006 09:06 PM

What car is it Col?

P&S used to be the people locally, worth popping in when your next in York maybe?

Or try Mardave direct, they used to have parts for all the old cars.

What wheels are they?

Please don't be put off, Mardave parts were pence!
