matdodd: Thank you for the upgrade suggestions.

mw02veg & matdodd: so are the pistons 1.3 or 1.5? Still confused. Thanks

paulc 25-03-2013 06:22 AM

White 1.2 mm
Black 1.3 mm (kit)
Red 1.4 mm

mw02veg 25-03-2013 06:26 AM

My bad 1.5 is for big bore pistons

zoomzoombang 25-03-2013 07:57 AM

mw02veg & paulc: thanks for clarifying!

Will it work to have the kit molded blocks in the position like in mossys setup? Rear low and front high. Or do i need the alu blocks?

Alloy blocks mate. :)

corsair 29-04-2013 02:49 AM

Has anybody tried the gear diffs into the setups?
The quality of the mouldings look good.

jimlee 29-04-2013 07:36 PM

Anybody tried the gear diffs yet?
Works well for us on the polished wooden floors but disappointed at them leaking.
Anyone else have the same problem?

ulrich 29-04-2013 08:53 PM

We tired them on astro, no leaking at all.. very pleased with them. At the temperature we have here in Denmark at the moment (have not seen spring yet and temp. around 10-13 deg. C), we found the 10000 and 5000 setting to stiff, until now we found 5000 front and 2000 rear best, will go for a 3000 in front next time.

badger5 01-05-2013 06:25 AM

I see that the Schuey site says that 7000wt oil is a good all round starting point for astro but it would be good if there could be some more info on this.
The point of leaking could be down to the diff being overfilled, some guidelines on this would also be helpful, maybe another video.

stegger 10-05-2013 11:03 PM

Anymore info on diff oils people are using would be a great help....
For say the southport track. Wet and dry conditions !

spud31 22-05-2013 06:17 AM

Anyone got a polished wood floor setup for the k1?

I run 7000 front and 3000 rear works great but have not tested on loose dirt yet but it feels like it should work

richardh 26-05-2013 07:31 PM

Hi spud31,

I'm running the k1 on polished wood, this is my setup at the moment:

Front:

Standard small bore pistons, with 30wt oil and white core rc springs.
Shocks mounted in the middle on the tower and inside on the wishbone. Running 15deg of caster. 1 dink link mount, no spacers underneath. Zero toe and -1.5deg camber. Gear diff with 10k, though tempted to go down to 7.5k

Rear:
Red pistons, 30wt oil, core rc red springs. Middle hole on tower, outside on wishbone. Silver anti roll bar. 3dink mount with 4mm spacers underneath stud, middle hole on hub. Std toe, -1.5deg camber. Wishbone on low roll centre, with 3deg anti squat. Gear diff with 10k oil, though tempted to try 7.5k

Cells in forward position position with alloy chassis.

Toying with running the carbon chassis, but not 100% convinced convincedabout this for polished wood due to the weight loss...?

Hope that helps.

Richard

spud31 27-05-2013 12:00 PM

Hi thanks for that what tyres are you running ?

richardh 27-05-2013 07:48 PM

Running yellow mini-spikes - so long as the floor is clean and not too dusty the more worn they are they better.

spud31 27-05-2013 08:34 PM

Hi im pretty close yo your setup running 5k front 2k rear and big bores with 3 hole pistons 35w front 30w rear core black front green rear springs
long wheel base and 2mm spacing on ackerman plate
I ran 30g plate under each battery which improved it.
am toying with s1 chassis to generate even more grip,

Does anybody have K1 setups from last weekend in Belgium, e.g. the Kampenhout track? Thanks !

Cockerill 02-07-2013 06:47 AM

My Setup should be online later today or tomorrow, I will post a link when it's up!

Cockerill 02-07-2013 10:53 AM

I completely missed this post!

In my limited running of gear diffs I've found that putting a gear diff in the rear gives the car a lot more drive out of corners. Keeping the ball diff in the front still allows the car to take rough/bumpy tracks pretty well.

stegger 12-07-2013 06:48 AM

Are you running the front ball diff Tom as per kit setting ? or looser / tighter.

Cockerill 12-07-2013 07:43 AM

Just as per kit

Starting set up for Worksop?

With the Worksop series starting a week today, please could one of the Schumacher guys suggest a good starting set-up. Preferably with gear diffs, alloy rear blocks, and 7.5 front yokes.

Also, it'd be interesting if they could detail if they are going with small or big bores, or if they are waiting to see the track before making that decision?

Can anybody tell me what's the best setup for the belts? What is the right tension on them?

I set them on the loosen side , as i found the car run smoother and not over heating after i loosen the belts as lose as possible (without skipping )

Kurtje 18-10-2013 04:40 AM

Ok thank you.

I've watched some video's on youtube and they say the tension is good when you can move with your finger the belt a couple of mm's up and down.

I see from Tom Cockerill's worlds set up sheet he was using the SV2 rear suspension arms, what difference will this make and are more parts required other than the suspension arms?

This is my setup from Batley today, the car was amazing, managed to win.
The setup is the same apart from change rear springs to black for worksop and front springs to blue.

K1 AERO Setup

I am looking at purchasing 2 K1 Aero kits for my boy (his first ever RC Build) and myself to get back into racing.

My son will be running Speed Passion electronics with a V3 8.5 and I will be running Speed Passion V3 7.5

Does anyone have a starting setup to run at TORCH (High Grip Astro) that I shoud start with.

Also any hop ups I need to get to install during the build.

Any help very much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark & Wesley

DragonRider 29-03-2014 07:47 AM

Hi

Now ordered the 2 K1 AERO kits so just waiting on Mr or Mrs Postie.

I need to order the oils for both shocks and diffs has anyone got a base starting point so I know what to order and start with for high grip astro.

Cheers

Mark

Mossy 29-03-2014 08:27 AM

Not ran at Torch, but I would be starting with 20k diff oil all round - Shocks would be 450wt 3 hole standard on Core Green for the front, 400wt 3 hole 1.6 on Core Black springs.

I'm not sure what kit pistons are to be honest.
