Anybody know the significance of the K in K-1 ?

Moose 29-11-2012 02:22 PM

Shaft drive just makes more sense with brushless motors. The brushless motors have much less rotation mass than brushed motors so shaft drive cars should be just better nowadays.

Sorry don't understand how shaft is better than belt or visa versa???

kevlar?

Kat?

johnboy: The problem with the heavy brushed motors was that that the rotation mass influenced handling very much. That's why most touring cars switched do belt designs and this design helped to get more steering on power because the motor direction is opposition the the wheel rotation.
Thats why 2WD midmotor cars use two idealer gears and not one like the rear motor configuration. So they are much more like belt cars.
Now with brushless motors the influence is much less than it was with brushed but the shaft car still has the pros it always had: more traction, bit less steering on power but smoother steering when acceleration hard.

but all the top tc are still belt,driven ,if shaft was the way they would do it too. belts to me give a smoother car
i thought the 4 gear was to get the motor direction correct to turn the wheels forwards, as the 3 geared cars you had to reverse the motors?

When we looking at grant?

johnboy 29-11-2012 09:29 PM

Looking at the shape of it. It seems its got flux capacitor drive and when speeds of 85mph are achieved it will go back to the future.

bigred5765 29-11-2012 09:42 PM

K= belt shape may be
1 = may be one belt???
k1 = kockers first??
kleenex needed

You wont be going back at 85 mph you need another 3 mph to do that.:woot:

Moose 29-11-2012 10:47 PM

@mark christopher: for one idealer midmotor you have to turn the motor. Thats ok for some motors and most speedos. There are some midmotor cars with only one idealer though but they are not as competitive as real 2 idealer midmotor cars.
TC is a bit different .. maybe I shouldn't have said shaft is better but I think it has much more advantages than belt in 4wd offroad at the moment. The best TC is the awesomatix in my eyes and its a shaft car. I dont own one but I know some drivers.. all are faster with that car. No iead if it is the drive shaft alone. Maybe the rotation mass still helps some belt cars I dont know. I guess the Tamiya EVO5 should be great today.

K1 .... maybe it looks like the kyosho kx one :D

Hello all,

can anyone tell me what SX stands for?

Greetings Hans

In engineering mathematics the torsional stiffness of a SHAFT is expressed as 'K'.
:eh?::confused:

I think it will still have ali,just more will be black rather than purple,

Jampot 30-11-2012 02:03 PM

O.K-1 will have to wait?
