I was at Bury metro with my Fireblade going down the main straight the car in front was weaving down the straight so I pulled out to get past and clipped his back wheel at full chat, started to role down the straight landed in a heap with only two wheels left on it. The next car down the straight didnt see my car and took a third wheel off one hub a drive shaft two wishbones and Colin Brennan pissing himself all over the track.

Havent seen any more new posts on this thread lately, maybe people have stopped seriously breaking cars, well not me lol
i was driving my savage at my mates bit of land after a night of heavy rain so there were big puddles. (now would be the time to tell you he has ducks up there and they like there savage free pond)Now i was being a bit stupid going through the puddles which were getting bigger each time and then i thought i would drive one wheel into the pond, then two wheels, then all four decided (nothing to do withh my trigger happy finger) to go in this 4 foot deep pond. It was FLOATING yesssss, nooooooooo, the front wheels went under then the exhaust was gurgling under water then the whole thing went under, engine stopped, pulled it out started up again first time then full throttled it into the water and hit the really deep part and savage no more. Took engien apart all fine in there savvy goes again, maybe my b4 will do that.

cjm_2008 12-06-2008 11:22 AM

at last sundays club meet I started to play around with the slipper setting on my b44.

this involves inserting a 2mm allen key into the slipper retaining bolt, and rotating the axles. a very clever system.

time was running out before the next round, so I rushed to get the car onto the track to test the slipper.

I couldn't quite work out why the bodyshell wouldn't seat with the velcro properly, but I ignored that and put the car down. full throttle, noise, no movement....!

yes, i'd left the allen key in. thankfully the slipper stopped any damage to the top deck or electrics. NOOB MISTAKE.

another one: back when I was 14, my local club used to race at my school hall. I'd charge all my cells up (yuasa 1700s'!!!) and carry them in a tool box. I usually got away with it, but this time I had a hacksaw packed in next to them. of course, they shorted on the hacksaw. cue 2 sets of melted cells, a plastic tool box with a hole in it, and a very depressed teenager.

not done huge crash n smashing for a while but years ago when i was given a Pred p8 to try at a tiverton winter round.

Any way coming onto the straight i over powerd it and the car drifted right and clipped the track marking and jumped over to the other side of the track inot on coming cars.....

Future national champ Lee martin was full pelt coming the other way and i hit his b3 head on...smashing the lent Preds chassis in half and killing the left side of Lees B3.

That's a pretty nasty crash. My freind wes had his predator at Albion he hit the wall and broke the main pin on the rear end. Had to take the chassis apart to fix it. He had that car in a million pieces.
He was also having issues of stripped spur gears, so he had to take an assocaited B4 spur gear and cut it to fit in his chassis.

He'll be selling his predator later on this year to get a Serpent.

Garry Driffill 12-06-2008 07:06 PM

What rear pin do you mean ? did he take the full car apart to fix a rear pin or somthing , B4 spur gear on a predator ! WHATS GOING ON !!! :woot:

My worst crash happened to my XXX-CR buggy. I was running in Tallahassee, FL at Tom Brown Park just practicing. We had this kid with a 1/8 buggy just driving crazy. The buggy had way to much power for his skill level. Any way I was practicing racing with one of my friends and my brother in law and this kid managed to jump the triple and double jump in the lane next to the one I was running in in one big jump. He landed in my lane and hit me head on with my buggy running around 25 to 30 mph in the opposite direction. The impact broke the chassis in half right at the steering section where the front plate and chassis join. The front half of my buggy was thrown into the next lane. The kid packed up a left without even saying sorry. People are so rude today. This is why you do not want to race electrics with 1/8 scale nitro B-Mag!

Mash Potato 13-06-2008 03:28 PM

I can't take credit for these, I found them on another forum, but they are pretty serious. The pictures say it all really.

The worst I did was when my brother and I took our cars on holiday as kids.
We had a great time running my Boomerang and his Super Sabre on the beach splashing through puddles etc. Only trouble was, we left them til we got home before cleaning them up!
The driveshafts had rusted solid into the drive cups

Still good old Tamiya, a clean up and they were as good as new!

Worst I ever had was in 1996, racinmy RC10B2 at (I think) a Mtroniks Winter National.

Went round the corner to head onto the straight, started to throttle it, then I suddenlt realised I wasnt in control. The car went all the way down the straight, full speed, straight into one of the wooden benches.

Everyone just seemed to stop. After the race went over to my car to investigate. The cells shorted out against the graphite chasis, which shorted the speedo and got stuck on full throttle.

So, what did i break?

Chassis
Pack of cells
Speedo
Servo
Shock body
Bent both pistons
2 wishbones
Front shock tower
Bent 2 turnbuckes
Ball joints
Front chassis plate
front top chassis plate

The car was more or less a complete writeoff.

Luckily for me I was sponsored back in them days and didnt cost as much as it should have to get sorted.

Nightmare!!

Chrislong 13-06-2008 06:35 PM

Millzy's crashing the X-5 at the Batley indoor finals 2006 was funny. At the time I felt bad for him, as it wasn't his car, but now it is funny. Didn't even turn, I think the Mtroniks had gone into "blue smoke escape" mode. Lots of damage.

I seen Rich Lowe cartwheel down the straight at Teesside and I think every corner was broken off!

bigoggy 13-06-2008 07:59 PM

when we used to race at warsop on wednesday nights. about 15 years ago. the esc on my procat went up in smoke. i drove it off the track and as i got off the table we used as a rostrum a marshall placed it back on the track. the next guy to come round the corner hit it full from behind. i lost both back wheels and the esc and chassis melted. that was my last ever race. only now am i thinking about racing again after 15 years of bashing

I cannot say I've ever done that. I used to race revo's with an E-maxx though. It's impossible to beat a revo with an emaxx.

I have practiced up at reo many times with nitro 1/8 buggies and the worst thing an 8th scale has done to my B44 was push the rear end to the pipe and I got stuck.
Jerks!:(

I think the worst accident your RC cars ever had was when you opened the box for the first time... :woot::p

:rolleyes::bored:

savageman25 13-09-2008 09:24 PM

i got bored and thought i would go through all the stupid things ive done with my cars over the years i have had them.
This can only end well lol.

1.So my first crash is with my 'first' rush evo. It was the day after boxing day and the car was freshly run in and me and and my mate thought it would be a good ide to go to the golf course, we had been driving round for about an hour when i rolled a nitro for a first time (go me). But thats not the worst of it, my mate then lost a wheel nut which ended his day and as i was laughing at him my rush evo was going full chat up the grass (i swear i didnt have my finger on the remote wink wink nudge nudge)
and BANG ity hit an old oak tree.
Damage: None person at fault oak tree not me
2.i now had a it more expieriance and me, my mums bf and my mate took the cars to shirley hills (mums bf:savvy 25, mate:brand new firestorm me:rush evo)
and i decided to race my mate, to put it bluntly my car hit a rock at a funny angle and broke an axle. Then mates car got hit by savvy lol
Damage:Broken Axle Cost: £5 person at fault:stupid rock
3.Got my savage now and was racing up and down my road, on the way back up the hill i hit a telegraph pole in 3rd gear and it ripped the left hand front wheel with wishbone and shocks all the way back so they were level with my engine.
Damage: all of the left front side Cost:£0 Person at fault:telegraph pole
4.Took me rush evo to mates field and the conrod blew through the engine to put it bluntly lol
Damage:whole engine Cost £0 Person at fault: mate
5. took savvy to field, jumped off 50ft high jump
Damage:4 bent drive shafts, broken tank and broken shell Cost:£15 person at fault:mate told me to do it.
6.Got mt2 off a friend, racing it round a field, battery box fell out and it ran away.
Damage:broken hub and steering Knuckle Cost:£5.99 person at fault:the clip that didnt go on battery box on its own.
7.I was racing savvy round field and hit a tree heres the damage and how i fixed it.
1.bent chassis plates
fix:hit with hammer
2.air filter split
fix:bigger cable tie
3.carb wont stay on tight now
fix:glue
4.broken chassis brace
fix:to put it bluntly........ i didnt
5.front centre driveshaft fell out
fixput it back in lol
6.cracked engine brace
fix:once again....i didnt fix it lol
7.bent titanium spur gear
fix:straigten with a vice
all in not the best thing ive done
8.Racing savvy round mates place and the top of the cylinder head just fell off all on its own, it had absolutley nothing do with the fact that i hit my frinds tamiya mini and rolled it lol
9.tryed to do a backflip with my savage at epr, it got completely vertical and for some reason hit the brake.
Damage:broken tank, shock and engine brace.
Fix: i didnt
reason for breakages:i have absoloutely no idea.
One of my most memorible war dog of an rc car was the old kyosho zaboon, now this thing has been through the mill.
1.sunk it in the sea
2.crashed into a vauxhall corsa
3.set it a light for some reason
4.crashed it into a bush of stinging nettles so i sent my mate in to retrieve as you do
5.played banger racing with it with some cheap nikko cars
6.crashed it into so many kerbs i cant remember how many
the only thing i ever broke was the speed controller, that was when i sunk it in the sea
then i sold it to my mate (cwilson) and hes manged go through like 10 esc's
but the best one by far was when cwilson was racing at epr with it in practice and on the back straight the car died just before the tarmac epr sign, smash another brushless car hits it full chat, crash another brushless car hits it, all the zaboon gets is a turnbuckle pop off, the other cars had all sorts broken with them.
(the people with the brushless cars might be on here so if you want to no if that really was you just ask cwilson lol)
then i got a b4 for my birthday and for some reason all i ever broke half the time were bloody rear shoc towers:mad::mad::mad:
but thats a whole other story
say i if you think i should be put away for rc cruelty :woot:
so anyway what have you lot been up to.

bigoggy 14-09-2008 05:24 AM

at least you use them hard, like they are designed to be used

savageman25 14-09-2008 07:04 PM

my wallet doesnt seem to agree with my driving style though lol

savageman25 27-11-2008 09:53 PM

'OOps, i did it again'...well sort of anyway.
about 1 maybe 2 months ago i went to my mates house with my savage after it had recently been collocting dust on my shelf, my mate has a big field out the front of his house qwhich is where we use or cars, now my other mate (cwilosn) had brought along a cheapo rc mini, one of those massive 1/6th scale things that cost loike £50, he had had the mini for nearly a year and what he was going to do with it was put some proper electrics in it so it was better, he never got round to doing it so i said to take it with us and give it a proper send off, so first of all we started the savage up and let the engine get a bit of heat, so we got about 6 foot of rope and tied the front of the mini to the rear bumper of the savvy, first of all i dragged it up and down the road as fast as i could and was launching it about half a foot to a foot off thefloor, so then i decieded to take it on the green, i eventually hit 3rd gear while pulling it but then the rope snapped, so the mini was just sitting there in the middle of the field, before my mate went to get it i told him to leave it there, i turned the savage round and gunned it towards the mini, 1st gear, 2nd gear.......finaly it hits 3rd gear about 25 foot away from the mini, SMASH, the savage ploughs into the side of the mini, pushing the windows out the casing, splitting the shell in half, snapping the bonnet off, blowing the interior out through the boot, while at the same time the savage bounces happily along the ground finally coming to rest on its wheels sstill running, i drove it bac to me and taking a quick look showing nothing broke on it, the mini though quite literally went home in a box lol.:thumbsup:
Doing the same thing with a chrysler crossfire toy in a few days time.:woot::woot:
Anyway, what happened to you lot breaking your cars, or is it just me who is irresponsible and childish lol

p.s. when i was declaring war on the mini, amzingly i hadnt had anything to drink lol:thumbsup::lol::cool:

ashleyb4 27-11-2008 10:20 PM

The msot desrtuction to a car i have ever done was with my rc18t, was drving it through a chicane when i got interfearence and it sjumped onto the back straight going the wrong way. Was going flat out with a mamba in it, on-coming was a 4wd kyosha with a 5.5 brushless in it going flat out as well. The kyosho came out unscaved, cant say the same bout my 18th scale though. Broken chassis broken cvd's two of em, broken wishbones and a fractured carbon fibre top deck, also the servo broke and the batery pack was all over the place :woot::yawn:

Old git hehehe.

Me well I had a xmas pressie when I was young and that was a Tamiya Facon, when it was released (now I am an old git) and as soon as I built it I drove it down the driveway and the chassis broke when i crashed, I only did 20 yards with it, a big disappointment. Tamiya cars were as fragile as china.

Welshy40 28-11-2008 12:15 PM

I also recall Dave Belsten had a good crash. He was driving a YZ10 and had a head on with my Lazer ZXR. I only got a scratched bumper and he had a snapped wishbone which was quite funny. Those wishbones didnt break easily.
