Put me down for an S2 Evo Boss :)

1 - Slim2 - Shafted driven mid motor - flat CF
2 - S2 - Reversed B4 3 gear gearbox - flat CF
3 - S2 - Reversed GT2 3 gear gearbox - flat CF
4 - S2 G4 - Carbon fibre 4 gear gearbox - flat CF
5 - S2 Q - Plastic casing 4 gear gearbox - flat CF
6 - S2 Tub - Plastic casing 4 gear gearbox -tub CF
7 - S2 SWB - Plastic casing 4 gear gearbox -tub CF SWB
8 - C4.1 - Plastic casing 4 gear gearbox -flat alum (proto flat CF)
9 - S2 Evo - ;)

Can I expand your list ;)

10 - Komet W4.1
11 - Komet W4.2

The last one only has the C4.1 gearbox, all the rest is replaced with improved parts :D

The goal was to make a c4.1 with a correct weight balance & flex, without a chassis that bends when you're having a bit of fun, and without hingepin hangers that have play after one meeting.

You perhaps want to wait and see what the S2 Evo brings, there are other options not on your list as well.

One thing to remember with the C4.1 its a AC designed kit, but not manufactured or supplied by AC. So i cannot confirm the quality of the materials or machining used. I am guessing what the proto-type C4.1's used and the production kit used could be different hence the issues.

Perhaps the Evo should be moved to 12 on the list :woot:

My C4.1 is dialled now its bent - much better than when it arrived flat.. I'm actually serious :wtf:

flipside 06-05-2012 03:52 PM

Haha cool :-)

Did you try it on rhr dirt? Or do you just take your B4 for that?

James 06-05-2012 03:55 PM

We've not run anything on RHRD for weeks as the weather here has been appalling :( , we did a little testing before though and the rear motors are better, the gap isn't as big as you'd expect though as its quite a flowing layout..

9 - S2 Evo - ;)

There were 2 versions of the shaft driven S2. Spec A and Spec B.
Spec A used conventional 3 + 3 saddle packs whereas Spec B used a 4 +2 cell arrangement to get a better weight balance left to right.

On the 4X i converted everything to 3mm HTD pitch belts, a lot of cars use this like touring cars and most off road cars which are metric ie Yok, Schumacher, Xray, Serpent etc, the belts are a lot easier to get hold of.

What pully's did you use with the 3mm belts.
I'd like to convert mine to use 3mm so its safe to use brushless etc

Would you be interested in doing an upgrade kit as you have the suppliers
;) wink wink !!!

Diff pulleys were from the Yok BX (33T), but remember you also need another three smaller pulleys for the center and front layshafts, so its not just a case of dropping in different gears ;)

Its not as simple as a upgrade kit otherwise i would of upgraded my XX4

Thanks for getting back
Is there better belts on the market that fit the standard pully's

Cheers

Going through this thread shows just how much talent you guys all have for the design development of existing chassis.
I was thinking of selling my BJ4-WE but now I'm considering a little 'project'!!
Top work as always from all the guys involved with the AC designs.

I really luv the next S2evo : thumb up! I'd like one , please ! :D

Here two pics i did not see in this thread :

Photo 1 - this was the 1st proto using a flat CF chassis to make sure everything fits before the mould is made for the tub chassis.

Photo 2 - This is comparing the car against a 501

Photo 3 - The tubbed version of the car, i am pretty sure Simon Reeves and Brian Preddy ran the car, problem i had was it really needed some aluminium parts like the motor plate instead of plastic which flex a lot. And with a XX4 rear end and a Cat SX front end, it would be to expensive to produce a kit as you need two donor cars. But with 3mm pitch and wider belts it was better suited for brushless and lipos.

That carbon tubed updated xx4 should be awsome with orange colored gearboxes ....damn ...

when can i buy one ???
