yeah the size is a little less appealing, I'd still have a play with one tho.

telboy 14-04-2008 05:21 PM

it looks worse in the first photo because of the perspective. but in the second pic, it doesn't look too bad...probably a couple of inch or so bigger.

Still looks cool, and should be good to race.

jimmy 14-04-2008 05:23 PM

I'd defo like to play - don't think it would be quite the same on some astro track tho. Would have to find a bit of dirt!

Don't forget the Losi Desert Truck, which is XXX-based:

The Losi guys have been on fire! The Speed-T (reviewed last month) put a street-spin on the stadium-truck formula, and now Losi is back in the dirt with the red-hot Desert Truck.

http://209.196.57.91/Media/News/Desert%20w%20radio.jpg

It uses the same CR-style long-wheelbase chassis as the Speed-T, but adds a full rear cage and baja-style front bumper/grill guard with a cutaway body for a true desert-racer look complete with bulging fenders and functional LED lighting!

http://209.196.57.91/Media/News/Desert%20LEDS.jpg

AT tires and 6-spoke "bead-lock-look" wheels complete the style makeover, but the Desert Truck isn't just a skin-deep beauty; tech features abound. Aluminum-body shocks and heavy-duty steel turnbuckles with new eyelet-style ends make the Desert Truck fully adjustable, and Losi specs the same MSX digital servo found in the Speed-T. You won't find Losi's Xcelorin brushless system, but you do get a 32000rpm motor, Losi 12T speed control, and a Losi radio system with Spektrum 2.4GHz goodness.

http://209.196.57.91/Media/News/desert%20chassis2.JPG

And here's a biggie: the Desert Truck is the first Losi 1/10 truck to get a gear-diff! It's the perfect match for the Desert-T's "more driving/less wrenching" mission.

I think both the Traxxas and the Losi look a bit wrong (The Traxxas is too big, the losi too plain and the sticky out wheels don't help).

The old Losi XX4 truck on the other hand, I though was really nice. Shame it didn't take off..

MRD 14-04-2008 09:47 PM

Garry beat me to it :)

DCM 14-04-2008 10:59 PM

I think the traxxas looks big compared to a 10th scale, but on it's own I bet looks cool.

The Losi just don't look right, CORR trucks don't have open wheels.... poor effort Losi...

i agree exactly with that comment

Associated and Losi have plans to make one sometime this year.

OMG get the traxxas one that one looks like crap!
The traxxas one looks one heck of alot better, I might get one later.
The heck with that losi design.

The slash has the looks of a real Corr, that one doesnt at all,
looks like the Speed-T with different body and tires...:(

B44&501xRacerEX 15-04-2008 08:34 PM

That Losi campared to this!
I like the looks of this one myself...

You noticed traxxas has smaller tires and smaller A-arms to get the look they wanted.
It's hard to tell the original from the r/c in the video.

If I get this I hope it's brushless ready, because I push my rc's to the limit!

jimmy 15-04-2008 08:44 PM

I don't know if the wheels are smaller, but they are certainly more 'scale' - video of it says it's brushless ready with a tough gearbox and decent slipper

Chris Doughty 15-04-2008 08:50 PM

I think the ultimate 'new' class would be semi scale looking CORR trucks (Traxxas no Losi) with 10.5T limited motors and any batts you like.

30 minute final main event, 10 minute other finals with bump ups :D

running big mAh LiPo batts and just 10.5's (or maybe even less motor) you could just bump up without charging

jimmy 15-04-2008 08:54 PM

when you say 10.5t I keep thinking of some mental wind brushed, but I guess you mean those new brushless things? the supplied motor doesn't look too bad but generally with those type of motors they don't last long (can't maintain them)

Chris Doughty 15-04-2008 08:57 PM

its a 19 turn equiv.

but if you are looking at the Traxxas CORR truck, it would just spoil it to put a 3.5 brushless in it and 3s LiPo, might as well have the Losi wideboy one

sounds like a cunning plan.

The Losi just looks like they got a XXXT and slapped a shell on....

Chris Doughty 15-04-2008 10:01 PM

I wonder if you could fit XXX wishbones on it and get the wheels back under the arches.

I don't know why they didn't just re-mould their SODA truck body and slap it on a xxx-4, that would of cost less R&D bucks than what they released surely?

add some LED's from their drift car and some 'detail' features and it would have been ace...

Are you on crack

Frank McKinney 17-04-2008 09:27 AM

That Traxxas truck is the first product of theirs I've ever told myself "I'd buy one of those..."

Here's hoping more kits come out!

jimmy 17-04-2008 09:54 AM

There's something to be said for scale looking cars isn't there - perhaps we'll get scale looking buggies again one day too

DCM 17-04-2008 10:02 AM

Jimmy, put them flares away, you not regressing back to the 70's and early 80's  But I know what you mean!
