Do genny's put out 240v or 12v? i though they were 12v but im obviously wrong, coz that would mean 54A!!!

Lee 07-04-2008 01:15 PM

230v, your power supply brings it down to 12v:lol:

Ash your getting 2.8 because your not including a pf. assumed to be 0.9:confused:

Thanks Craig but I'm after a 4 stroke can not be bothered mixing fuel etc just want to buy normal fuel and leave it for the day.

The Kipor output is not like a normal geny it send out an output then amplifies it up, so if you need to run something big on it, it stalls

m8 my kipor happily run's my caravan including the lcd tv,dvd,microwave,hot water,lights plus all my race electric's etc, only thing its struggles with is wife hair dryer when most of the rest are switch on

As I see it,

Power = Amps * Volts
So
650W = 650/240 = 2.7A @240V or 650/7.2V = 90A @ 7.2V (assuming you had enough racing power supplies to convert it all down).

This is massively approximated but as you can see, charging 3, 7.2V packs at 5A = 15A @ 7.2V so is well inside the max output of the generator. There are lots of other things to take into consideration so the math isn’t spot on but you get the idea. We used to run a tent of people charging and the tele off my old Honda. The other thing to take into account is that the more power you pull from it the more petrol you use.

I bought one of these last year http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNUSED-PORTABL...QQcmdZViewItem but only used it twice as we started using Vermins as it was cheaper on fuel to run 2 tents worth of stuff off his and share fuel that run both tens off separate generators.

I’d consider selling it if you were interested, could bring it to Kiddie as long as my cast comes off tomorrow so I can drive. It’s like the one above but not a caged one, has a handle on top. I t is a 4 stroke one so no arseing about with 2 stroke oil. Try before you buy?

it looks good, but 5 hours running off one tank full? that doesn't appear to be too good?

Lee 07-04-2008 04:08 PM

That will be at full current draw though id imagine.

It might be worth a try, they knocked back an offer for 85 quid:thumbdown::lol:

Lee, that looks like a 'copy' of the older Honda design, like the Kippor is a very close resemblance of the newer ones. In which case it's going to be more than £85! When my old man bought our genuine Honda one back in the day it was nearly £700 :-0

Lee 07-04-2008 04:29 PM

You can buy them now dan for 100:thumbsup:

I was just being cheeky

Am I reading it wrong, or does it say starting bid 89.99 at the top, then lower down, buy it now price 99.99????

ha ha ha.....thought so
