Forgot to mention.. Note the inside out rims. Supposedly they handled better with having slightly wider track at the front and rear lol.

Did these cars ever do well??

This one had a lot of money spent on it. From memory front bumper was almost £30 and similar story for the wheelie bar... Proper zenoah power coupled with K&n air filter and tuned exhaust from a tourer, this fling flew..

However not all good, it regularly broke £90 servos and the shell virtually dissintegrated at the slghtest of rolls :o(£100). I remember being naughty and playing with it in the street at my mates and it rolling quite badly which resulted in it almost hitting my M3 lol.

Had a fair share of laughs with it as well, I took it up to my mates and decided to annoy the locals bu having Fg rocket up and down the road at 60 mph lol. A lack of concentration whilst showing off trying to do handbrake style turns near my feet , quickly resulted in me being knocked 10ft down the road lol.. Car went away after that lol.

Which brings me to my best cars.

Colinevan 26-02-2008 10:59 PM

Fell out with the FG for some reason cough cough and did a trade for 2 cars.

I ended up with these.

Fantastic cars and some would say stupid as the Fg was worth £600. But hey I had a new build Top Force evo and immaculate Egress.

Some pics:wub

I don't know how well they did, but Mardave have re-released them!

I have a mardave meteor in my garage, I might dig it out sometime soon.

Colinevan 26-02-2008 11:07 PM

The Holy Grail.

Tyres can cost upto £75 for 4 new, and this one was perfect. Only bad thing on this car was the quality of the paintjob as you could see paint brush marks in the mettallic silver. I did price up a new shell and it was a staggering £90.

A few pics.

Then comes the sad day.... Im sure you all know where im coming from.

Split up with the Mrs, HAD to sell the rc cars, had to sell the M3, and moved back home until enough pennies to buy a new house.

Eeek:confused:

Colinevan 26-02-2008 11:18 PM

But, fast approaching the young mature sensable age of 30, back in my own house, with a nice big garage and loft ready to fill up with.....

Yep vintage cars lol..

Iv currently acquired the following.

Super Sabre - A1 condition, pics to follow
Boomerang - A1 condition , pics to follow, virtually all parts replaced lol
Bush devil - needs a lot of work
Grasshopper - re release not built yet
Lunchbox - gold edition
Hotshot 2, good con but needs new shell and wheels n tyres, already have the decals
Thunder dragon, car not arrived yet, but already bought a new bodyset.
Stadium Blitzer - has been fun for someone and is in very bad condition - everything plastic needs replacing lol.
Falcon - perfect but shell painted in the wrong colours. New shell at £34 and decals at £20 make an expensive falcon lol.

If your interested in my projects, i'll keep you all posted, and if i can help in any way on cars you guys have, drop us a pm.

Col

Am I remembering wrong or did a young mr. Doughty not race one of these around about 12 years or so ago? The car didn't do too badly at all from what I can remember...

Scouser 27-02-2008 07:53 PM

Jeez Col, you have been busy! Post up some pics of the collection as it stands now. Any of these be racing at Southport? Perhaps someone could raise the possibility of a a vintage class for next years indoor races at the upcoming AGM? Sadly I wont be attending so I can't suggest it myself. It would give me an excuse to go spending again!

Won on ebay for virtually nothing with full radio gear. Ironically i gave the car away for nothing as someone needed a receiver and servo lol. I think young James terrorised the local cats and B4's at southport with a similar car lol.

LOL - Col - your not wrong about that car, or James terrorising the locals at Southport - You "gave" the car to me for £10, I took out the receiver and servo, and put the car back on ebay....got £35 for it!

Almost cried when it sold on ebay for £60 lol..

Sorry to say it, but this was the most rubbish tamiya car ever, I got one and as soon as I built it I broke the front wishbone by being hit by a leaf. It was rubbish

I dont think Doughty did, Kristen Wiles did though and made 5th in the indoor UK champs with it, and boy did it shift. He also beat Craig Harris quite a few times inside and outside with it and was rapid. And that was when Harris was really good, yes he still is now, but he was better then and he beat All the Team Kysoho guys, well Jamie Booth was the only one not there.

Hello
Here is my first car - Mardave Apache
Indestructable and still running, weighing in at 1600g
No differential, no dampers, no caster.....but I remember one driver at our club would still make A/B finals with his indoors when the RC10 first came out!
