I think i still have a video and pics indoors of this race. Think i`ll have to dig them out.

I have the "official" BRCA VHS of the 93 Worlds at Basildon on VHS in the house, threatening to convert it and upload clips but not got round to it yet.

I have pictures of Taunton from 93 as well when we travelled there from Dundee to do the BRCA round. Scotland only had grass tracks so it was summit special when we got to race on dirt tracks like TEMAC Taunton and Aire Valley. But it was the multi-surface like EPO, Bury, and Kidderminster that I loved back then.

Not to mention the Juniors at somewhere near Luton on 1990 :) I still have the magazine cuttings from that as I made the A final

Great pictures & stories of the good-old-days... I too would love to see video clips from the 93 Worlds at Basildon... I remember there being so much hype over this event but was unable to get there to spectate myself :(

My own interest in this event has been recently revived & heightened since restoring a Yokomo YZ10... its a 93 WCS which has evidence of being a pre-production model so its possible that my car may have been used by a team driver during the worlds event... but by whom i'm unsure/don't know! (Tony - this is the car that you blasted those magnesium parts for ) I'm just finishing off this project with a Masami style bodyshell as a tribute to the man who won the 4wd class.

i remember those tracks from the top pics where the morning was spent cutting the grass and making a track, awesome times, not so good though were the bot dots lol

RudeTony 19-10-2011 05:12 PM

The pics of Basildon are at the 93 worlds and see if you notice whos car it is too!
I remember cutting thegrass the afternoon before and laying out the track - one of the racers went there one evening and changed 2 corners because he thought he wouldn't be able to race them right - Forgot to cut the grass though so it stood out like nothing else you've seen -so funny!!

For those that mentioned Craig - see if you regognise these 2 cars??

Meeting them? I got them to sign the top deck of my Yokomo in silver paint pen. Cliff Lett gave me a load of his used tyres and I ended up with Masami Hisosaka's charger!

Ah a CAT 2000 ec and a Cougar 2000? Owned both of those back in the day

Ha, that shows how little i've actually raced. My second car after the obligatory tamiya 4wd (Manta Ray) was a second hand EC. From what i remember it was ace. I used to like my 410k (BANG) and the screw together heatsinks on the cat.

Good times!

Got the Video from the Worlds 93 and 4 films worth of Pics. Was there the whole time and helped out all the place.

Got my pass signed by Masami and various other sigs in the back of one of my programmes.

Attended a few things over the evenings there, George Land's BBQ was quite nice and the Awards Ceremony/Dinner was something rather special.

once you get yz10 done with masami shell you`ll have to post pics would like to see the end product. i still have my original 870c and used it last year to win a B final at a local meeting, still a great car. And haven`t run yet but still have CE RC10 from 1991 i think with black tub chassis.

Think that's the first Fireblade actually isn't it?

I used to love those colours Craig ran, always iconic and instantly recognisable!

RudeTony 20-10-2011 09:31 AM

MattADH 20-10-2011 09:49 AM

Here you go... I finished mounting the shell & applying some of the decals last weekend.

I'm still on the look-out for the many of the correct decals... namely KO Propo & Novak stickers... so if you have anything suitable please let me know
