Yeah, but the 540 4-pole Castle Combo ESC would overheat on a truck as heavy as mine. The option of getting that motor and a Tekin ESC was much more expensive and there were no other 540 4-poles available at the time i got mine.

Si Coe 15-10-2011 10:27 PM

There is no truck class at regionals anyway so they are all illegal....

shortcoursegoat 15-10-2011 10:36 PM

im not talking about castle 4pole, i personally wouldnt use anything castle other than their fan an 4mm bullets lol

Im talking about the tekin 4pole motor the pro4 range. they not been released long but its the way forward, especially for that heavy old thing you drive now an again :P

shortcoursegoat 15-10-2011 10:46 PM

tekin rx8 + tekin pro4 4600 running on 2s geared 14/40 = 12.30 min run time = 170f motor temp 130f esc temp

cant be bad to that an i bet it goes way faster than you need, i was running mine on a 16t but was just too fast. if you need any help with anything just shout or pop over to the rango table, more than happy to help to get that pretty body out for some smashing

Howler 16-10-2011 12:36 AM

Oh its got more than enough speed. My personal opinion is that SC's should run 3s, afterall they're not really 1/10th, somewhere between 1/8th and 1/9th allegedly. My truck's all 1/8th like, with mod1 gears so it's plenty happy taking 3s power.

Did race it all the time until i killed a diff (lost some washers rebuilding it) and nobody in the UK seems to have them in stock. Ordered some from the US now so it should be running again next week.

Si Coe 16-10-2011 08:42 AM

Are we racing today then?

It doesn't look so good here, and I've got a small child to babysit, so right now I'm not totally keen, but I also know I'm the only available race controller today.

So what you doing Si
Dont fancy setting up then pours down,1 heat and packing away again like last week.getting soaked and covered in mud again.

Si Coe 16-10-2011 09:13 AM

Well my wife is opting for 'just don't go' as its also a 30 min drive, and I'll have to load up little Ben and all his small child paraphenalia too.

If the weather was good I was figuring going down, setting up race control, booking in, running a round or 2, then I set the system to auto and take the by now most annoyed Ben home, leaving Minke in charge of clearing up.

Then there is the option we just call it a practice day. No timing but track out. I suspect Minke is doing that part now.

minke 16-10-2011 09:39 AM

Timing gear here, need someone to use it. Track almost set up

BMRCC 16-10-2011 09:47 AM

Ben's not had breakfast yet!

Going to take me 45 mins at least.....

Edit - Likely to be longer in fact.

Doubt I could arrive before 12.

Si Coe 16-10-2011 10:12 AM

Ok - I'm pretty sure this isn't going to work.

There is weetabix everywhere and he's nowhere near finished. I think it will just have to be a practice day because there is no way can get down in a reasonable time, and when I do I'll have a wriggly over excited child who loves pushing random buttons on computers in race control.

Practice only today guys.

notfastwes 16-10-2011 10:31 AM

Do you guys have space for a firestorm? Gonna bob up for a bit with my son.

minke 16-10-2011 11:35 AM

minke 16-10-2011 12:47 PM

minke 16-10-2011 03:08 PM

Just wanted to set everything up and make sure I could get it all working.
I got it all figured out but the genny wouldnt stay running.

Many thanks to those that came and to those that helped pack up.

notfastwes 18-10-2011 10:29 AM

I had a good time on Sunday . It was good to be able to come down and have a practice without the pressure of racing and allowed a bit of messing around with setups.

Just wish I could have stayed a bit longer. Hopefully you guys will have another practice session soon

Regards
