front bearing carrier/cast block mod?

Wondering if anybody knows about a different mod for the front hubs/castor blocks...eg one without the capture pins cut down method, somebody mentioned at our local meeting last week that proline do a bearing carrier that has an offset pin that goes straight through? Any info much appreciated...craig,dan or si...any thoughts lads

Cheers :)

I think the Proline hubs use trailing axles very much like the new AE SC10 front end setup that uses a hex .....

Save your money and look for a In-line setup .... you can't believe how different and how badly the car drives with trailing axles. I spent 2-3 months trying to make these work, and failed !!

Do you have the short pin in the bottom and a a screw with a shoulder in the top as in the build thread ?

I think Gavin who won first national round at broughton runs the pro line front hub set up . His dad Stuart mentioned something when I was talking to him the Saturday night while we were building the track so I didn't take it in properly and never had time to go and have a look on sunday

same discussion

No way :) it was Gavins Dad who told me the same I believe! Last wednesday at our midweek club meeting...I'm going to have a mooch at a few options and will feedback to those who may be interested soon. I know the lads have been trying different options over on ukmicrox...need something that won't pop out capture pins on front impacts....or the other answer is to drive better on my part ;)

chunky monkey :)

Well after a frustrating few weeks trying to get the Chunk front end sorted it drove lovely tonight at local club meet. Best its been so far. Only picked up 3rd in the B final but car really was brilliant. Bags of steering, brilliant in the air and best of all no shooting off front caster capture pins :)

The micro 2wd class is so much fun, just wish more manufacturers would get on producing buggys......errr, in fact scratch that, ill stick with the Chunk thank you :D

I'm still a fair bit off the main pace but just really enjoying the drive with the Chunk....if you are pondering about getting one built up DO IT. The buggy is wicked. Thanks Speedy and Dan  oh yeah, and hurry up with Chunk 4 please lol

mrspeedy 27-10-2011 11:01 AM

Sounds like you had a great time running Chunk at your club meet, hassling and beating 4wds with a 2wd chassis is sooooo satisfying, but gotta make sure you remind them when you pass that your only driving a 2wd :woot:

If you want a super tough front end there are some ali steering blocks on 'the bay' not a bad price either - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STRC-Alu-S...#ht_1928wt_910

and Chunk S4 is coming .... slowly

lol Your so rite there Si, I always forget to drum it into the lads that I'm driving 2wd . Loved every minute of it and the buggy really is starting to perform as I wanted.

Im mostly at Telford Hot Trax at present and prob for most of this winter. If you were at Cov Uni then as far as Micro stuff goes you had Dudley and Telford within flinging distance but 1/10 offroad you also had Coventry itself and Kiddeminster fairly close. West Mids is def not buldging with tracks but if you dig around its got a cool scene

Look forward to meeting you at a micro round soon then...if you hear of any other Chunks for sale then I'm ya man...cheers for posting and the help so far
