I have pictures of the car in another thread so maybe you can see what I mean?

JustARcFan 12-04-2011 01:32 PM

WHat is the minimum weight in the UK?

I'm asking because when I take all the weight out like you guys said I'm at 1476gr.

Cheers

What spacers are you guys running on the rear shocks on the tower, on pictures it looks like the rear shocks are vertical, but having built mine even with no spacers they are leaned back at the the top, no badly though, probably at a similar angle to the anti squat?

Also, wheelbase, on the rear inner hingepin I only have 0.3mm play, very little and much less than Tamiya kit, are you guys finding the same (that wheelbase needs adjusting on the outers?)?

I am using Ali front and rear suspension blocks on the back by the way...

Hi Dave, i've thought about spacing the shocks away from the tower as i'm not entirely happy with the "leaning" but i'm not sure whether it will make any difference at all so i've not tried it yet, i'm just using the standard TRF spacing.

On the wheelbase i've dremelled away the rear raised section of the wishbone and inserted a TRF blue 2mm spacer at the front of the wishbone to effectively lengthen the wheelbase. I also found that dremelling the hub end of the wishbone (evenly) gives enough space to insert a 1mm plastic spacer so you can space it back and forward as necessary. If this isn't clear come and have a look on Friday and it only takes a couple of minutes to sort.

On the subject of weight, i'm going to try some stuff out tonight (Moto Arena) and will post on here tomorrow what the differences were

Will investigate the dremelling to increase the wheelbase

Where is the best place for wheel base adjustments these days, on the hubs or wishbones. I.e. inboard or out?

Maybe we are talking about something else?

I've put a 2mm washer between the shock eye and the rear arm and I have no washers on the tower (I'm using the option alu bit)

Just in a conversation about this at the minute and the opinion is that the shock should be at a 90 degree angle to the wishbone at all times (mine isn't). If this is the case then shimming of the the shock bottom is dependent on the amount of anti squat you run. I've never heard of this until now so it's all new to me LOL.

DC, what do you mean when you say cut down front wheels, I've never run staggers before?? Are you glueing them??

The inside of the wheel, cut to the first inner rib, leave the rib on, you cut off 10m or so, so the tyre sits narrow on the wheel. If you don't cut the wheel it makes the profile of the stagger rib much wider, then glue the tyre with none other than Nuclear RC tyre glue, it's the BOLLOCKS:thumbsup:

GRIFF55 13-04-2011 08:48 AM

we'll sort that friday if you nervous doing it mate:thumbsup:

mikeyscott 14-04-2011 02:21 PM

Have you tried the cut staggered tyres yet?

I've not tried them, normal staggers work just fine.

I found that too, but more out of interest :)

Will 501 wishbones be ok on the rear as I broke the car testing :(

DaveG28 18-04-2011 08:54 PM

Mikey, 501 will fit but you'll need a dremel, as they foul on the outdrives as standard (the new dn01 wishbones don't).

Guys, setup wise, liked mine at Stot at the weekend, one thing though, feels like it could use a bit more droop, are you all using standard 201 shock shafts, standard vega tower etc, or have you tried increasing rear droop?

mikeyscott 28-04-2011 09:17 PM

How were the cars at Stotfold?
