It's a shame it uses Saddle Lipos; means having to buy new batteries... I suppose centralising the weight in the middle is a good idea. I'm glad the front and rear ends are pretty much identical though

Now the "CAT" is out of the bag, can we have the tittle changed back from 'Deleted' so people can see what there missing

Both Sx2 and Sx3 are good. Saddlepack version and stick pack version although i think the new version looks more to my taste.

Now now Mikey what were you saying last night about “no more cars, work with what I have”? :p

Looks like a fair few parts are carried over which is a good thing. Certainly interested in more info.

I knew there was a good reason for me buying saddles to go in my SX2!!!!

No extra expense for me then :-))))))))))

Well just hope that a conversion kit for the sx2 or someone will be able to confirm that most parts will fit each car?

moth898 04-02-2011 01:24 PM

WOW!!!

I really must say this looks like a very, very "right" car now!!!

Motor up front like the good'ol XX4, and saddles at the back!

Couple of questions:
-does the motor rotate the same way as in the XX4? (forward)
-what is the weight distribution of the car? 45/55?

http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/Car_Sh..._side_1000.jpg

I have a feeling this car is going to set the standard for 4WDs in the years to come!

Cockerill 18-02-2011 07:46 AM

The motor rotates the same way as the belts, which is opposite to the xx4.

No idea on weight distribution yet, I'll measure mine when it's built.

It rotates to drive the wheels forward (sorry I couldn't resist....) :woot:

Seriously...It'll rotate opposite (as it faces the other direction) and the kick from it is right to drive the rear of car down and generate traction - such as was done when the X6 went 4 geared. ;)

SHY 18-02-2011 08:06 AM

Ah! So the SX3's motor rotates forwards, whilst the XX4 rotates backwards?

Could you with the SX3 flip the chassis, and mount the drivetrain on the opposite side, making the motor spin they other way - if you wanted? Might be a great tuning aid?

Again, awesome work guys!

I'd love to see the manual, in order to see the details. Will this be put on the web page?

Are there 4 belts? 1 very small from the spur gear axle to the upper axle?

Robbiejuk 18-02-2011 01:02 PM

Looks like it is the same gear box as the Sx2. So two pinons, one on the end of the layshaft and one the end of the upper layshaft which the pulleys are mounted to.

Does anyone know when the SX3 bodyshell will be available to get it painted up prior to chassis release?
