RETRO R/C 07-02-2011 10:55 AM

Hi Guys,

I used one of the "Bugle Boy" wings last year to win one of our largest 1/10th buggy races, here in Australia - the NSW State titles. The wings are extremely strong and provide great downforce. Unfortunately at the time - the Bugle Boy Body was not fully developed - although a few early "pulls" had been made by Thomas (Bugle).

I have attached a few pics of my new Bugle Boy shell - freshly painted and ready to hit the track. (Please forgive the use of rattle cans - I like simple paint jobs). I think the paint job shows off the lines of the shell. I will try and get a few pics of my radio instrallation as well if interested.

This shell leaves a TONNE of room for electronics without looking "pregnant"!! :woot::wub:thumbsup:

I think the price that Thomas is asking for these shells is truly excellent and he deserves a pat on the back for helping out fellow racers, I also saw and placed an order for his new DEX Undertray and front bumper.......great stuff.

Cheers

Darryn

Wow!!! This is most likely the coolest 1:10 OR shell I've ever seen! Absolutely amazing!

Bugle 10-02-2011 01:07 PM

Hey everyone, i've made a bunch of shells, $25 AUD (http://www.xe.com/) plus postage for a body and wing. PM me to sort out postage costs if you're interested.

Thanks Darryn, too bad you weren't using the bugle boy wing last weekend you would've won it

This is the undertray and bumper Darryn was talking about, I posted it on here a while ago but there didn't seem to be much interest, I guess more people would be after them if they were all running atomic carbon tubs :)

Chucked a mamba max pro into the car for a test fit being the biggest ESC i've got, can fit it any which way you like really, got the receiver between the spur and the ESC here. Didn't wire it all up since i'm going to use it in another car instead.

As far as motor cooling goes, Darryn's car pictured above has 2 heat sinks on the motor, someone else was running a fan down beside the motor with holes in the side of the body to draw air in. Another had a fan and heatsink angled so that the fan was going up inside the cockpit.

Some pics with a clear body

This shell looks awesome I have to say.

Daryl 11-02-2011 09:00 AM

Thats pretty sexual!

Bugle 11-02-2011 10:14 AM

Thanks Jimmy and everyone :D

Also I forgot to mention, the protective film they include with this polycarbonate (Bayer brand 0.8mm thick) i'm using isn't vacuum formable. It can't take the heat so I have to remove it, therefore there is no 'overspray film' on the outside. Glad wrap works just as well anyway and is easier to peel off :)

I love the original shell, but because it goes in after the pods the wires of my receiver touch the shell and push it out slightly. That's my only complaint. I had no problem really fitting my SP GT and futaba 2.4 gear in there even used the mounting plate for easy removal.

Undertray would be greatly received, although I've stopped crying now everytime I see it belly something hard and abrasive :D

This shell also gives a bit more real estate for stickers hehe

Pure beauty. Bugle, I want to shake your hand. Really excellent work.
How thick polycarbonate did you use for this body? And does it become thinner when formed in the making?
