I think SC's suit a limited motor personally. Why go for scale looks if they're moving too fast to see them? A stock-speed motor and tracks built to suit would be great.

In the states, SC's are hugely popular! We have Spec Slash, Spec 2wd SC, Mod 2wd SC, and Mod 4wd SC.
Some tracks have more SC's racing than all others. Sometimes, I have to race my DEX410 against them, when there's not enough 4wd buggies. They don't like it much! They'll hate it when I get a DESC410! :p

SC classes

Hello all,

Here in the Netherlands electric off-road wasn't (isn't?) very popular.
There were only 2 proper purpose built tracks.
With the arrival of the Short Course class we got quite a lot
of new applications for membership at my club.
Pretty soon we had a special heat for the Short course trucks.
Racing was pretty bad at first, a lot of bad driving going on there.....
Then came the 4 wd Short Course cars, they really took of at my club and
they pretty soon outnumbered the 2 wd Short course.
Now we have seperate heats for them and it really works.
The guys made a set of rules and they stick to it, 10,5 turns 2 cell lipo or the stock electronics that come with the Slash 4x4.
The short course class was good for the hobby here in Holland.
I wouldn't buy one because the cars don't appeal to me but if I would buy
one it would most definately be the DESC410 !
That looks like a proper race car to me......

Greetings

Hans

If anyone is interested in getting the Losi Heavy Metal body and using it on there 2wd/4wd buggy, Team Bluegroove sell a reproduction of it. I don't think they sell the body mounts for it though. The Losi one years ago came with extra body mounts since it won't mount to the buggy body mounts.

The fact is it really is like cheating, given that the opposition are all nitro conversions (SCRT10/Hyper 10SC) or pure bashing cars (Slash 4x4) and this is the only serious racer.
But its also just an overgrown DEX410, so there is a danger that SC's become too much like buggys.

I was just thinking that, the whole point of short course was to have a class for really bad cars that young kids thought were really cool!. Crossing the bashers into racers. Now who's going to continue racing if they bring their slash 4x4 to the track first time and come up against a Durango with a truck shell on it :p and then see how much cash they are going to need to beat a kid with overly rich parents. The 2wd SC class already went the wrong way once all the racing brands jumped on that one. Must be time to get back to 2wd Stadium trucks I think :)

2wd SC isn't that bad. Sure, the Slash 2wd handles like a pregnant hippo on ice skates, but thats just Traxxas for you. The Blitz manages to be a great basher and still take on the SC10's on the track.

With the Losi SODA/Heavy metal - I simply made my own body mounts to fit a 1/10th Stadium shell. Making your own mounts isn't hard - I used some Cyclone TC body posts and a bit of spare fibreglass. Back in the late 80's early 90's thats how we fitted rally bodies to our Procats and Optima Mids.
