we made ours from a QTEC ATX PSU (or q-tec), no bulbs, no resistors, runs our charger a treat.

let us know how it goes Ash.

Try ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/102994, 30A on the 12v rail.

Just made one up a few weeks ago from spare bits for a total cost of £0.00 - and it's excellent!

I loaded the 5v rail with an old automotive bulb I had around and it puts out about 12.5v on the 12v rail consistently.

On/off switch was from an old Tamiya MSC, I think. Binding posts were scrounged up from somewhere, and the PSU was discarded by a friend who was upgrading his machine.

have converted a few of these power supplies, all work well. if you can find older atx ones you only need to load 5V rail, i use 12v 50w domestic halogen spot lamp bulbs mounted with a tool clip inside the case. if you can find an old AT power supply anywhere (not easy!!) then all you gotta do is plug it in and switch on, no loading required
