vintage dates

I will be at some of the dates , cannot do the 3rd Nov though, no chance of york and teesside in a weekend. RC overload on my grey matter. Procat and rc10 or kyosho thing if I can find a topdeck for it.

What to Run?

Would it be sacrilege to run a mint condition Gold Tub RC10 ?
"Not sure if i beleive in shelf Queens but i do like a good reminisce."
Haven't raced for donkeys years but this sounds fun.

Nah that's fine, Jimmy's graphite was a bit of a minter when he ran it. My RC10's a pretty good one too, which is good as it means it doesn't fall apart on every other corner ;-)

Last year John ran Jimmy's Javelin, he just put a slow motor in and drove steadily, making sure he didn't do anything daft. If you want to have a go but don't want to badger the car just do the same. There will not be any large jumps, just small stuff.

If there is enough entries for a second heat we'll put all the 'slower' cars together.

Cheers lads
Still not sure though, i did a bit of research and my rc10 seems to be a CE edition with the black parts and stealth tranny which possible puts it outside the 1990 cut-off, depending how bendy the rule is?
i also have an old graphite mid but that's not turned a wheel since 1988 when i raced it at a club in Oldham. She really needs some work as my pit skills were a little bodge-worthy back then.
At worst i think ill pop up and have a ganders.

Northy 25-10-2007 07:54 AM

The RC10 will be fine, we're not ultra strict on the cutoff.

Get yourself down and race! :D

super__dan 25-10-2007 05:25 PM

Any RC10 chassis is allowed as the fundamental tub is from pre 1990.

Get it raced!

Holy crap, that's a right bad boy, VERY impressed (except that wank bumper).

Mine still hasn't got any wheels so might have to bite the bullit and buys some new ZX5 ones :(

Also the motor I bought seems to have been lost in the post. The RC10 finally needs a diff rebuild after Batley so I'm now less preparred than ever :(

WHITTLER555 25-10-2007 08:03 PM

Very nice Stu!

The bumper is original Cat.

Northy 25-10-2007 08:08 PM

That is a work of art! :D

Frustratingly it seems I have no used front 4wd yellows I can use on my car. I might have to resort to putting new tyres on it :(

Chrislong 25-10-2007 08:49 PM

You know, at first I didn't click - but holey-shmolley, thats an XLS in mint condition!!

At first glance I thought "That Procat looks a little different"...

bi-jeezus, it'll have more power in it there by double what it was designed for :) (not counting the motor, as I don't know what it is at a glance)

Stu 26-10-2007 10:00 PM

The motor in there is a proper period Schumacher 15x2, I beleive that is what was used to win the 1988 worlds?

I'll run it at Worksop this weekend but unfortunalty it will have to come out for the vintage series, too fast. :(

IMPORTANT RULES

We had a York committee meeting tonight and they really wanted to keep the 'spirit' of vintage racing as true as possible so they have decided on the following rules:

Motors: 540 sealed can - same rules as thier 540 series, which basically means that the 20 turn HPI stinger (that was run last year) is the fastest motor that we can run.

Chassis: Age limit of 1990 (ish).

Tyres: No minipins - feel free to use up all your old half worn yellow mini's from througout the year.

That is well nice Stu brings back memorys of Albion Mill in Blackburn. Running on carpet with foams with demon motors (or oddiefied motors).

What :o. I'd just sorted myself out with a 19T spec motor for fook sake. Count me out

Northy 27-10-2007 09:29 AM

I'm really sorry, but that is what the committee decided :(:(:(:(

G - That's a bag of wank. In the late 80's motors were being run with winds in the teens.

I have an alternative idea, it's not ideal but it's better than the above, we'll discuss it tomorrow with Jim, Mr W, Dan......
