DCM 27-09-2007 10:23 AM

looks good, whats with the silly name..... again

jimmy 27-09-2007 10:35 AM

I know it claims to use 501X suspension, but the front hubs use vertical ball studs - I wonder if they have made a plastic version of the alloy hop-up carriers.

I think mr4-bc when i see that, anyone else? :eh?:

Probably, been built to a price in the end. Should all be good though!

The chassis is made with the usual Tamiya's ABS plastic or is made with another kind of plastic. In the pictures it seems to be a different material, maybe composite?
I also wondering about the design of the join betwen the rear shock tower and the rear gear box. In the DF-02 and DF-03 is the weakest point of the car.

Zahir144 27-09-2007 01:19 PM

Very nice! I see the plastic shocks have gone!

i actually don't like either of the tamiya bodies, i think they look silly. By far, the best body out there is the Lazer zx-5's body. Nice square edges, a real cockpit, and i love that little diff cover thingie.

DCM 27-09-2007 08:02 PM

but if they were all the same, it would be boring though, and design is a matter of taste.

lazerboy 27-09-2007 08:13 PM

i know, i just think that rc cars shouldn't look like fighter jets.

jimmy 27-09-2007 08:32 PM

I'm all for classic lines and I've never been a big fan of shells like the B4 etc.. But the 501X is pretty cool and this is even cooler I think. One of my favorite shells around is the Keen Hawk shell, and it's pretty much exactly like a jetfighter! Like DCM says tho, it would be boring if they all looked the same, and everyone likes different shells.

lazerboy 27-09-2007 08:37 PM

i like the bj4 shell too, it has a cockpit that's not overshaped, but it also has a bit os styling. And it's probably going to be the only shell where the cockpit is seperate from the rear shock tower(other than the ugly x5)

Zahir144 27-09-2007 10:33 PM

Yeah i agree that body shell preference is a subjective matter, but in my opinion the 501X shell is probably the best shell on a buggy that i have ever seen. It looks like its speeding when its not moving!! The new 'Tateego' shell by Team Azarashi is also a stunner:

jimmy 27-09-2007 10:44 PM

I was lucky enought to get a preproduction version of this shell from Azarashi - which I'll be painting up soon :) and yea it's a stunner

DCM 27-09-2007 10:55 PM

fancy getting me one of them shells fella?? hee hee

lazerboy 27-09-2007 11:06 PM

i think those two look to toyish. HEY, we should probably create a body shell forum, so we can post this kinda stuff in it.

DCM 28-09-2007 07:18 AM

with the Aze shells, they are both very well design form and function shells, they cool and look cool, the X-Factory stuff is purely function and sod the form. J-Concepts actualy seem to me to have an anonymous look to them, they all look the same.

BORMAC 28-09-2007 08:01 AM

HA! Tamiya finaly go and bring out a kick a$$ buggy in the 501X then they want to rip it off with this crap incarnation. Im sorry but the chassis sux. The 501X reperesents quality and engineering brilliance, why would anyone want to buy a car that 'looks' similar but get a car so far removed from the 501X?? Who Knows?! Tamiya leave the 501X alone and stick with re releasing more of the golden oldies.

DCM 28-09-2007 09:18 AM

because some can't justify spending £300 on a buggy. I will admit I have a TRF415MSX in the workroom and a TA05 and the TA05 is the better car for club/regional indoor racing, so I use it. And this is what the Durk Digler is aimed at I think.

Toonz 28-09-2007 09:40 AM

ok guys...here...more pics on the DB01 DURGA.
