Anywhere that enables you to change the track layout. Grass / Astro doesn't make much difference in terms of local advantage if you can change layouts (for example, you can change Southport's layout loads, spot on)

If you can't change the layout much, it takes the piss in terms of local boys dicking you

So, i'd go for Osfest, Southport, RHR and Talywain, and i'd like to see Coventry/Silverstone (going by the pictures)/Kiddy get a shout, possibly even Bury Metro again (although i'm not sure if that's possible)

Not EPR though

ps - i'd also put a track without a concrete section above a track with one, cos it shags tyres. Nothing is gained from concrete sections at all, other than wrecking tyres

Oswestry, Broxtowe, Coventry, Southport, Stotfold & RHR get my votes.

It would be great to have three 'neutral' grass tracks and 3 permenant tracks. :)

Yardeeee 24-09-2009 12:42 PM

Nationals I would like:

Kiddy
Oswestry
Talywain
RHR
Southport
Stotfold

EOS:
BRC/JUN/VET - Broxtowe
F345 - Coventry

Just my 2 cents, I think the EOS on a neutral surface is a must.

PTRU 24-09-2009 12:52 PM

Proline dirt arena indoor final??

would people be interested in this?

December given over to selected Host clubs to verify they can meet BRCA spec and Date for the event awarded (i.e.avoiding Euros and Worlds dates).
Committee publish Calendar guarding against date clashes with other RC disciplines. - Hopefully in Early Jan.

The above can be written quickly but there is no end of verbal back and forth with all sorts of people to finalize the calendar with no clashes of dates.
Regards.

if thats the case Charlie why cant it be done a year ahead then,my wife always struggles to get time of at short notice and i know 90% of the people i talk to about it are all in the same boat, it always seems it's done last minuet, and left till after Xmas, most people have there hols booked before then,

If the successful Host clubs cannot agree with dates offered 6 months ahead, then what chance have we got asking 18 months ahead?
This was one of the problems this year, in that certain clubs couldn't/wouldn't accept the date offered, due to various reasons, not necessarily of their own making, so dates needed to be re-arranged.

A full year ahead? Not many clubs are able to confirm whether they can host an event atall in the next 12 months in advance Carl, let alone what weekend it can go on...

Date finalising and announcements were held up a little last year because of the courtesy of our section in avoiding any clashes with other sections national series so that our racers could compete at more than one if they wish- I.E. 1/10th and 1/8th off road, or TC and 1/10th etc. and not all the clubs could do the dates offered, particularly the April dates, thats why for the first time in a while, the nat series started later than usual in May...

Inconvenient it may be, but surely its better to get accurate dates out a little later than getting them out early and later having to change them because of unforseen circumstance when people have already booked time off...

EPR, RHR, Batley, Southport, Kiddy (if we can have BB pins back) 3A (if only), Suprisingly i quite liked tally this year, Broxtowe.[/quote]

Danny, I'd thought you'd be all over GRASS tracks, I thought they were your favourite surfaces??

Jonesy 24-09-2009 01:24 PM

My 6 would be:
Kiddy
Oswestry
Southport
Bury Metro (Please wOody and Rog)
Tallywain (the same as last year would be good)
Broxtowe

EOS
Coventry
Silvestone

The reasons for my choices are simple..... It's not that I don't like places such as RHR, EPR and Stotfold it's just I like going to tracks where local knowledge for the 'top' drivers is at a premium.

I know Southport goes against my arguement but I LOVE it there!

RSharpy 24-09-2009 01:25 PM

Aggree on the EOS finals needing to be on neutral tracks.

One thing for sure, interchangable astro tracks should get priority over ones with only one or two layouts.

millzy 24-09-2009 01:36 PM

I dont mind wha tracks get selected its all good fun and thats what counts

Please to see people putting tally on the list

Kit Jones 24-09-2009 01:49 PM

Stotfold, EPR, Kiddy, Silverstone, Oswestry and either Southport or Talywain would get my vote.

Does anybody know which tracks will definetely be applying to hold a national?

millzy 24-09-2009 01:52 PM

Taly is applying

I would be chuffed if we got another round
but also happy if he had the EOS or F3s

Stotfold are intending to apply for a 2010 national

MattADH 24-09-2009 02:09 PM

Personally, I don't like these kind of threads as it can easily upset the clubs that don't get mentioned or are mentioned but only for the wrong reasons...

I understand that some clubs appear to have an advantage to locals, but this happens at many of the national rounds during the year. At EPR, there has always grief about home advantage, but the drivers still have to perform on the day. You have to say that Kevin Lee won the EPR 2WD National this year by being the best on the day, yet didnt win at Stotfold which is his local track and where he is used as a benchmark for pace. Grant Williams is another who has emerged as a top driver yet a year ago would have been tarnished with the "EPR local" brush.

There is going to be gains for practicing at a National venue regularly and for me personally, tracks like RHR are ones where I would like to improve upon but the distance is just too far to me to go to. But that doesn't mean I dont want it on the National series - it just makes me want to do better next time! All the venues put in hours and hours of hard work on and off the track as well as the investment to host a national so I am glad its down to the BRCA to choose the venues.

Rant over!

Nick Goodall 24-09-2009 03:02 PM

Completely agree with Matt - Southport was always one of those tracks that if you knew well you'd always do far better then someone trying to learn it in one or two short practise runs...... Same unfortunately seems to go for EPR, Stotfold, Kiddy, Bury Metro but equally these Multi-surface tracks provide such great racing no matter what the weather is whereas Grass tracks just turn to a complete slippery mud bath that's also dangerous for marshalling - Shame there aren't more options for racing under-cover really....

What about Clanfield - Would they be interested in a 1/10th National? No advantage to anyone but that track would be awesome for a 10th National - More like some of the past Euro's Dirt tracks that were always good!

Big E 24-09-2009 03:05 PM

I find the tracks that can change there layout a lot are harder for non locals to learn!!

If for example everytime I went to Bury (not digging at this track) they would have 1 or 2 of the same layouts I would find it much easier there as I would know it from the year before. It's not like I would normaly travel that far just for a bit of practice.

It's 6 to one half a dozen of the other really.

Obviously I go ok at EPR but I don't spend that much time there. I only done 4 meetings over the winter as I'm scared of the rain and 2 regionals I think. Even the meetings in the winter the grip is just not the same..and either way I still lost in 2wd :bored:

To be fair I think the balance of tracks for surface and location have been very good for the last couple of years.

E.

How can i put this politely...... I cant so i wont bother! Lets not go there again.

You can change the layout at EPR, its just the layout they use are by far the best.

I forgot Stotfold from my list by the way :D
