just because it doesn;t come loose while running doesn't mean it isn't tight enough. I had to tighten mine until i couldn't hardly tighten it any more.

to test, hold one wheel and the spur gear, keep them still so they don't turn, then turn the other wheel with your other hand. You should see the slipper turning. If the slipper stays still while the wheel turns then your diff is too loose.

tryed that its fine mate all i can thin k of is that i must have a bad 1 .but i have run it with out the gearcover on it coz the motor shaft is to long to fit the gearcover on but cleaned every time i used it

Mabuchi_Johnson_Lee 21-09-2009 03:02 AM

I also used to have this problem. It's fine after i changed to Kyosho RB5 Slipper pad and Spur.

stampede vxlboy 21-09-2009 09:50 AM

a complete slipper clutch just the spur gear and pads nut and spring

DCM 21-09-2009 09:59 AM

the slipper and spur on the Ansmann, it isn't the best, the spur isn't completely circular, so it has high spots, and the spur material is yuk. If you were going to change, buy a B4 slipper assembly and spur, although you would have to ream out the inner bores to 5mm.

Migsy will tell you, mine is noisey, but no slip, and my cars don't do 'bad maintenance'

saintnitro 21-09-2009 10:13 AM

i've just taken my diff apart coz it was making a nasty noise yesterday during racing and found the thrust bearing had fallen apart:mad: now i cant find anywhere that do the size that i need. can anyone help me and point me in the right direction.
the part number is 125000449(2.6x6x3)

cheers Ginge:thumbsup:

saintnitro 21-09-2009 11:07 AM

Right i've looked everywhere now and nobody does a thrust bearing that size and i'm pulling my hair out  whats left of it:p i was just thinking of buying the kit car and robbing that of parts:thumbdown:

i think you have to order a try modelsports if you have the parts number. or try apex models they sell loads of stuff for the madrat . they sell them £1.50 each bearing the do the kit for £8.00

migsy 21-09-2009 01:07 PM

fare play, i will agree with you there...your cars are well looked after and your maintenance is top notch.

even your braking is still good, as you showed yesterday going into the left hander off the back straight...nice bit of driving from both of us there i think.;)

Alan. :p

I dont suppose you could sort me some pt numbers for the slipper assy could you??

stampede vxlboy 21-09-2009 01:30 PM

do you need to buy a complete slipper spur gear plates ande spring and the nut ? have you got any part numbers plz thanks

Nick Goodall 21-09-2009 01:38 PM

Kev Brunsden at Apex was telling me he found the Spring inside the diff to have completely lost it's tension and just shrunk up to the size it would have been compressed to.

This would cause major problems with it slipping to check the spring when you take the diff apart.

He found a Tamiya diff spring that fits, although i'm not sure which one so may be worth looking into that or possibly even an RB5 diff if the main gear fits?

Paulmay79 21-09-2009 02:00 PM

Would the whole rb5 gear housing fit??

DCM 21-09-2009 03:10 PM

Nick, I could be wrong, but I don't think so, all the Tamiya diff's have the same screw, nut, spring and thrust setup, and it be all metric, worth a bash!! I did notice that the spring compressed alot between the pliers.

Paulmay79 21-09-2009 03:40 PM

Im going to look towards kyosho stuff

saintnitro 21-09-2009 03:53 PM

will the kyosho diff fit in a mad rat? coz i'm loseing my mind over this thrust bearing no one has them in stock:mad:
