Tony me old fruit!!!
This is from someone that knows how difficult it is to get the balance right on the mic.

You do a 'Good Job' dude and for sure there will always be someone, somewhere where they say they don't like certain things.
I think we are ALL in agreement that you are the future.
You’re a young guy with energy, enthusiasm, know the majority of the racers, knows what's what on the track, knows all the cars, the sponsors, a very good racer yourself and to say the least very funny, although I think you’re also mad!!!

Just do what your doing mate and to put it in prospective, I challenge anyone out there to try and do better!
YOU’RE THE MAIN MAN DUDE - keep it up fella but don't let your own racing suffer because of it ......

'Love this guy' he he he

Lee Martin 21-07-2009 08:39 AM

well put!

No probs with that, simply my opinion even though it appears I'm in a minority. The commentating certainly adds an extra dimension to the event, it just wasn't quite to my taste - it's not about curbing anyone's style or making major changes, just striking that balance a little better. I'm sure that TT will develop his style and that I'll get used to hearing it!

The most important thing is that TT, RudeTony and DC are all racers who volunteer their time (just like the currrent refs) and that shows real respect and dedication to the hobby - thanks guys, I don't intend to belittle your efforts, just trying to give feedback.

Yeah agree with that, during the race should just be about the race, whos leading, whos being lapped etc!

Silly stuff in between the races though

Get Lost ! :p

I wasn't there BUT as a TC driver I'm used to having Mr Kennedy commentating and have always enjoyed the banter. Personally I'd have it all the time as I don't mind giggling on the rostrum. In fact I believe that whatever pressure I'm on to do well goes totally forgotten if someone's taking my mind off it and I just drive the thing round making less mistakes.

Looking forward to hearing that at stottfold...

Lee Martin 21-07-2009 09:22 AM

PB,

sorry wasnt gesturing at your personal taste, just the fact that i think its more appealing to the non- racer....rather than off-putting...

Adam Skelding 21-07-2009 09:43 AM

Dude,
I thought you did a cracking job.
Each commentator has they're own style. In F1 we've had; Walker, Legard, Brundle, Coulthard...etc. Each has their own style and it's grown/evolved over time. We've been so used to the RC Murray Walker (Mr Harris) that it'll take time for people to get used to your style whilst you get it nailed down.
I like it at the moment, TBH when I'm racing I very rarely here what's being said on the commentary.
For the passer by it must have made the event sound pretty cool. Hopefully the Worksop guys will book you for the Players meeting.

10/10 for effort fella. I like the way you roll.
:wub

Kopite 21-07-2009 09:50 AM

It'd be even more awesome if you guys could start a double act, like in the Murray Walker/Martin Brundle (or whoever else it was) F1 commentary days

You could have the very excitable one (TT, lol), and the other one giving the race info, and maybe other technical info

Doubt it'd work, but it sounds good though

However, the commentary is top class, and it must be attracting potential newbies to the hobby/sport, this especially being the case at Southport considering the track is in a park!

Long may it continue. I definitely want to go and watch the races i'm not in way more now, purely because the commentary makes the races MILES better as a spectacle.

Lee Martin 21-07-2009 09:55 AM

the double act of rasey and truman was on show at EPR!

Kopite 21-07-2009 10:02 AM

was it good? I wasn't there

Lee Martin 21-07-2009 10:19 AM

very very funny!

Chrislong 21-07-2009 10:35 AM

I love it guys, especially when Truman is on (no offence to anyone else).

When he notices a fast car, he really does make a big difference to how cleanly that car gets round - talking him politely through back markers and more encouraging than off-putting (for me anyway).

I have one small request - Andy Griffiths requires much more abuse...

Not just Griff, all the Welsh!!!

Lee 21-07-2009 11:01 AM

I don't think we should abuse the welsh, we should include the scots and french too :woot:

I know i haven't witnessed the lyrical genius that is TT but my opinion on commentating is that if it provides a good atmosphere then it will make the meeting more enjoyable, i remember Kris kennedy from TC and when i went to a national that he was not commentating at it felt dead and flat and it was hard to get excited.

Obviously having information and letting people know who is quicker etc should be part and parcel of the meeting but its the little things that people remember and those are the things that make a meeting. The small off the cuff quotes or remarks are the special ones.

Keep it up TT i want to come to a national just to hear you do your bit!!

neiloliver 21-07-2009 11:39 AM

I thought TT and DC did a great job, i was in awe!

If I had a wish it would be for more details on each driver. Obviously TT and DC know many people so they get picked out (on?) more. If we each had to supply a list at the start of the season, age, car, sponsors, club etc then this could be available to the commentators.

Chrislong 21-07-2009 12:29 PM

As long as they guys are enjoying doing it. Random abuse is always funny but it musn't offend anyone..

All the commentary was top job. Agree with Pidge in that Southport was probably the most finals I have watched for a while! Good balance between banter and Info, for me just keep up the good work!

One last point i do agree with Kev is that keep the info coming around how far off tq, where you are placing in the round etc,
