Live up date "track side" :D

Last time we went to the Euros (austria) we wen't even allowed a magazine on the plane. So - how do you fly with the racing gear? I don't take much, but obviously charger, cells, 2 cars, controller and a few spares, tools and tyres.
Are they a bit funny with cells and odd looking electric bits in your checked baggage?

Body Paint 14-06-2007 07:51 PM

I've been having the same worries Jim.

It seems as though everything needs to go in the hold, which bothers me a lot. I'll be taking nearly £2000 worth of cars alone :o

PaulRotheram 14-06-2007 07:53 PM

can you not dismantle them to avoid breakages? like main components.. shock towers.. shocks.. etc

bbq 15-06-2007 09:04 AM

when you go to "check in" tell them that you got sporting goods and tools
in you bags and that is usualy all they need.

Last year going to Austria i had my transmitter and bateries with me on the plane
i just explained what they were when they X-rayed the stuff.
no problems at all :D

When i went to the LRP race a few years ago they pulled us all to obe side and went through everything on the UK side, they didnt like the look of the pro trak charger with a keypad on the front and a digi display:D but they were fine and even let motor spray and stuff pass through.

On the german side when we were coming back they didnt even look at our stuff or xray it we were running that late but mr drescher still managed to get a £45 charge for excess baggage:D

Hi

Can anyone tell me whether the Bus service is going to be a reliable way to get around for the week with the obvious load of equipment we'll be carrying backwards and forwards? I understand that it runs from 6 am to 9pm but do you know how often?

I ask because i'm flying to Helsinki and planning on driving up to Vaasa, but wondered whether it would be worth just renting the car for one day to get me to Vaasa Airport. Then i could catch the bus to the hotel and use it for the rest of the week and rent another car on the sunday to get me back to Helsinki.

Cheers

Kev,

I looked into it because im doing the same, you can get a car fiesta size for about £180 for the 8 days if i remember rightly.

Not super cheap but it does mean you have some freedom:D

tyreman 20-06-2007 10:35 PM

It's 72 euros a night or about £50

jimmy 20-06-2007 10:41 PM

Cool that you are in the same place dude, that hotel looks to be a good one! disco! haha

Anyone have any suggestions as to what they'd like to see in my oOple report? or particular photos they'd like to see?

We were thinking of doing the usual interview madness - maybe some more 'unusual ones' rather than the usual big boys.
We were thinking of handing out some spec sheets to get a flavour of what people are using also... but feel free to suggest anything else.

That sounds awsome.
Disco and bar can become a baaaad combination
I have to bring my boogie shoes with me then :D

The intreviews are wery fun to read but i often want to se more pit action and
what all the diffrent peopel have under the body of the car.
And not to forget all the strange home made stuff that pops up at a event
like this hehehe. . .
Like the S.P.O.R.T. 2006 Raptor by Arne Schmiedeberg from Germany
that car was cool

Lee 21-06-2007 03:08 PM

I want to see who the top unsponsored driver is:o

Mrs oOple 21-06-2007 04:05 PM

Top unsponsored driver, that's a good idea. Need a researcher !

jimmy 21-06-2007 04:20 PM

I remember back in 2003 when I had some more comprehensive webstats that photos inside cars are by far the most popular - I just usually forget to take them, but will do mi best!
