Race the trucks on the beach!

Lee 19-05-2009 11:26 AM

Trucks / Truggies, just plain wrong IMO :woot:

Suggestion - whatever number of non-regional driver entries there are, 4, 8, whatever, split them into more than 1 heat and make them marshal each other's heat. Leave the Regional drivers to marshal the regional heats.

You racing Bill?

Here's some infor for the weekend:

Details for NERCR 2009 Outdoor regional Weekender

Saturday 23rd May (2WD) and Sunday 24th May (4WD) (Bank holiday weekend at the end of May).

Camping available free of charge on Friday and Saturday nights, on South Shields Sea Front, in a locked park (NERCR will have the keys).

We have sole use of the Bents Park for the weekend.
This event is sponsored by South Tyneside Council.

Toilet facilities open 24hours within the park, for our use only. Voted best toilets of the outdoor regional series 2008!
Burger van will be attending all day Saturday and all day Sunday. We’ll get it to park closer to the track this time.
BBQs are allowed, we only ask that you do not damage the grass in anyway, and that all litter is removed from the site as usual.
Dogs welcome! Just not on the track unless they are a BRCA member.
Alcohol can be, and is encouraged to be consumed on both Friday and Saturday and Sunday nights!

Recreational park is 50 metres away, with pedalloes, kids mini train, Pub is 50 metres away, does great food. Fairground is 75 metres away, with bowling alley etc. The beach is 100 metres away. Restaurants are 150 metres away. And there's plenty room for that pre finals game of football.

The track will be of a very high standard. The mowers and rollers used for preparing the bowling greens in the town are being used to prepare the surface, but don’t expect a bowling green flat track, there’ll be one or two things in there to keep you awake!

Bear in mind this is a public park. We have been asked to keep speeds when driving in the park down to 10MPH, with hazard lights on, and drive in a clockwise direction around the field. Let’s keep the council happy so we can keep using this facility for free.

Lets look forward to a weekend of good racing

If anyone is looking for places to eat, try:

Fish and Chips – UK’s best fish and chip shop about 200m away, Colmans – serves the queen fish and chips, Tony Blair eats here, and I think David Pack has aswell!

Curry – not a bad curry restaurant on Ocean Road – theres 15 of them on the one road.

:eh?::confused: what good would that do,?do you really believe that drivers in a non regional heat would marshal you any slower,

Just seen this thread but by co-incidence did actually get the online booking to work this morning. Booked in for all 3 classes and therefore trucks.

Can we know either way about trucks before the weekend please as it's one of the main reasons I'm coming. I can assure you I'll marshall the same pace, whatever heat it is.

If anybody wants acetone bringing let me know via pm

Ben

Matty - to help you think outside the box.......
I was replying to the earlier comment that one of the issues with having non-regional heats, often less than 8 drivers, is not having a full compliment of marshals for the following heat - i.e. Heat 1 Regional would lack marshals. If you follow my suggestion, the non-regional heat would lack marshals but Heat 1 regional would be marshalled by the top regional heat.
How does that sound?
I'm trying to encourage the idea of non-regional heats to increase the driver numbers, increase the fun for the day and increase the income of poor R/C clubs.

That's fine, only trouble might be the ones I might be needing to try the different fronts (ones are cut and ones are not) as this weekend I'm trying to set the truck up for Belgium. So we might need to swap during the day.

G - If you're not going this weekend, who is BRCA rep in your abscence? Is it Vermin?.

Before anyone goes off on one, this is nothing sinister, just something that crossed my mind as am currently deputising for my boss in work. That said I might have some fun and games if it is Vermin ;)

Lee 21-05-2009 08:35 AM

I didn't know G wasn't going.:o

Am i first aider again?

A few other things that have been suggested to me need mentioning:

Rubbish - Lets take our rubbish with us please! Bags will be available from race control (if we remember to get them).

Noise - neighbouring static caravans in park, and children staying on site.....just asking for a bit of respect

Who they can contact if they will be late arriving, I know sometimes things happen on route.

You can call Peter Ellis or david Pack if you have their numbers, as they are staying in the park. Or you can call me on my number here: 07779713490 and Ill sort something out, I only live 200yds away.
