I would imagine the original short wheelbase cat would be very quick round a tight indoor track, but they are very rare and expensive.

Indeed they are, Phil Channon used one to win the Radio Race car 4wd stock championship in (I think) the last year of it being run...

I had a go and couldn't drive it, it turned up its own.... bottom...

For me it would be the Egress. pretty rare and damn expensive. the guy that ran our club around 1990 brought one when it came out. it was stupidly expensive at about £250 compared to £175 for a procat. but it was all carbon fibre, titanium, alloy, awesome hi-cap shocks. Well ahead of it's time.
And it was whisper quiet as well which was the most amazing thing, as every other tamiya shaft car sounded like a bag of nails!!

think the original Avante is the most expensive vintage out there.

i have an rc10 stealth edition with a chrome plated chassis, i just need somewhere to race it!

My Egress (hee hee) is incredibly quiet. I can't explain it because some of the gears have huge clunking teeth. It's a quiet as my Associated B2.

My Dark Impact is suspiciously noisy in comparison.

Elliott.

In spite of the lightweight materials, it was still quite porky.

Mine would be a Gold Tub RC10 or a Graphite version in 2WD and Yokomo Works '92 Dogfighter in 4WD!

being extremely jealous of the York vintage series, i'm hoping to get a heat of vintage together to run in the open class at the mid-south regionals this year.

I dug out my old rc10 stealth worlds thingy (the black chassis one). i was intending to run a 19t in it with some old 3300s etc for fun.
anyone have any idea of the gearing as i have no idea what we ran in the old days! i vaguely remember using an 18 tooth on a stock motor at my old club (but that was a small indoor hall).

I run my vintage(ish) car every week and it is is really up there with the newer cars with respects of speed. Now if I could just complete the whole race with out crashing it would be even better. :)

Nice car!

Well, with an 81 spur these are the ratios:

16 - 11.39
17 - 10.72
18 - 10.12
19 - 9.59
20 - 9.11
21 - 8.67
22 - 8.28
23 - 7.92
24 - 7.59
25 - 7.29
26 - 7.00

Hope that helps,

G

What about the Massami addition Yokomo, they were selling for around £500-£600 when they came out!!!! Only a handful made and i was lucky enough to try one before deciding NOT to buy it.
I always wonder what happens to all the old cars i had, someone must have a full loft!!!
