Your car should be plenty quick with a 6.5. Check if your speedo has been properly calibrated. If you're still lacking horsepower, the cells are the ones to blame, get good ones or a lipo.

i wouldn't go to the shop he went to, sounds like he was very poorly advised. any shop that sells someone a 3.5 for an offroad buggy should be shot!

probably is my cells, speedo is a traxxas one but will check calibration again tonight.

Which lipos are best then? hoping to get to speedy models after work to see if they have anything

I know someone who put a 3.5 in his 2WD at worksop. Could do a 360 over the table top... Too much power though, he could get it round the track but not in good laptimes...

the LRP 5300 hard-cased LiPo's are great if you are looking for 'stick' LiPo.

but the official BRCA LiPo list is not available yet so you should be aware that buying any LiPo right now might mean its not legal for BRCA competition in the future

Hi pal, even a 6.5 turn motor will be way too fast for macctrack its only a small track in relation to Bury Metro, im a regular there and i run a zx-5 i still run the standard RTR 20 turn motor!! i think the most you would need is a 10 turn at Macc even that would be very quick for the tight layout!!
Your 6.5 will be interesting to see.......bring some spare wishbones and braces....you may be needing them...;)

if it's carpet then get some schumacher yellow minipins, and a small pinion by the sounds of it!
Is your motor bonded or sintered? (what make is it?) And what pinions do you currently own?

Wait on the lipo until the BRCA list is out, your main advantage will be gained using the right tires, indoors on carpet yellow mini pin, outside on grass/astro try yellow mini spike, do not use these tires to run up & down the street, you will scrub the pins/spikes off them. Nellybobs will be able to tell you what tires to run. Nice car the ZX5, may not be the fastest chassis ect, but solid and good to drive. have fun:thumbsup:
