Its a tricky one Jim, as the two available bank holidays fall just before the nationals. So it would be a bit hectic for those doing nationals. Getting back from the regional on the Monday and off to do the national on the Friday (the two in question are far away)

For those doing nationals it would be best to have the regionals the weekend after. Having said that around 95% of our regions racers won't be doing nationals so it might be best to look after the majority.

Any thoughts guys to help Jim? Or don't people mind either way  its your region! and the countrys No 1 region, so we need to lead by example :D

Robbiejuk 16-01-2009 01:23 PM

Personally I don't mind either way, will go to what the calendar dictates. Right so lets look at the possible dates for regionals.

16th/17th of May
23rd/24th of May
6th/7th of June
13th/14th of June
27/28th of June
4th/5th of July
11/12th of July
25th/26th of July
8th/9th of August
15th/16th of August
22/23rd of August
12th/13th of September

Thats twelve weekends, not taking into account the two bank holiday weekends. Anyone got any idea when the euros are on? as that will probably take up another weekend to.

I think I would be right in saying that out of the clubs in the region who have shown an interest that only Broxtowe and Blyth won't have an open calendar for the summer? And obviously Eastrax if they are holding mid east regionals this year. Will there be another Anglian Motel Grand Prix? if yes could we not have a three dayer this year :D

I personally would like to see all the regionals finished before the end of season finals though as it was a bit weird having the last one after they had been on.

RSharpy 16-01-2009 01:58 PM

Agreed- it would be best to get them all in before the EOS Finals. The Euros are on 10th-15th Aug but I don't think it would matter to much if they clashed?

Broxtowe have an open calender, it was agreed we would sort snoring car dates around off road. It would be best for us not to have a date to early on as we need to get new track markings and features sorted for the F3's and would like to use them at the regionals. Having said that we should have them sorted for the beginning of the season. :)

It would make sense to give Blyth one just before the National. :)

All I know is I can't wait to get outdoors, indoor racing gets on my tits

2 Saturday and Sunday meetings would be a great addition to the calendar.

not for me im afraid have enough trouble trying to arrange it around Nationals due to family commitments .. so all weekend regionals would be a no go for me

dadtc3 16-01-2009 03:33 PM

Anglia motel meeting
Landlord as far as i know is up for it
But that would have to be the 4/5 th July--the same weekend as his gala day--i know it clashes with belgium again--but it cant be helped

Which clubs are up for holding a regional
Eastrax ,i gather are not, using the buggy track as a kids BMX track
Holbeach ,we are up for it as usual
who else---lets give jim some ideas--give him some venues
Tony

Northy 16-01-2009 03:40 PM

Blyth. Run by YORCC.

G

Robbiejuk 16-01-2009 04:35 PM

So at the moment I make the clubs interested in running regionals.

Broxtowe
Holbeach
Hubberts Bridge
West Bridgford Model Car Club

So thats the same amount of clubs we had last year.

With Blythe being run by YORC will they be interested in running a Mid Easty Regional? or are they your region Mr North?

blitzboy 16-01-2009 04:37 PM

theres leverton club too just waiting to here from them

There is nothing to stop a club running regionals for more than one region, so if you guys would like us (my YORCC hat on here) to run a regional event for you at Blyth I'm almost certain it could be arranged ;)

Sweet! A 2wd and a 4wd would be good!! :p

tak racing 16-01-2009 08:27 PM

OK so we have 5 venue's interested

Broxtowe
Holbeach
Hubberts Bridge
West Bridgford Model Car Club
Blythe

And we have dates as below, all after nationals or pre national season:
Broxtowe have given me 3 dates they can do as shown

March 8th
March 22nd
April 12th (Easter could be 2 day if required)
April 26th - Broxtowe
May 17th
June 7th
June 28th - Broxtowe
July 26th
August 9th
August 16th

This satisfies all the pre-requisites .. ie the weekend after a national and not a weekend before, all dates are pre EOF and we have 10 dates with the posibility of a 2 day meeting at easter (Sunday Monday). Anglia Motel 2 day meeting does not clash with these dates.

So now to get some club names against dates and see where we can go from here!

blitzboy 16-01-2009 08:58 PM

ok cool will check with the hall dates after the week end ,,, might i suggest hubberts do the later ones in the year so if we have bad weather we can also pit indoors with table and chairs supplied :D

tak racing 18-01-2009 07:28 PM

I'm now thinking that March is a little early. All clubs being grass we may have problems, might have to squeeze more into the other months.

Thoughts?

Jim

dbizzle5 18-01-2009 08:41 PM

I think March is too soon as the indoor meetings havnt finished till the indoor finals on the first weekend in April so anyime after that I think is best.

blitzboy 18-01-2009 09:17 PM

i agree lets get the indoor meeting over and done with first then we can concentrate on the out door in april

tak racing 20-01-2009 06:22 AM

OK Well it looks like 8 is the maximum amount of meetings to fit in.

So dates are as follows

26/04/09 - Broxtowe
17/05/09 - ?
07/06/09 - ?
28/06/09 - Broxtowe
12/07/09 - ?
26/07/09 - ?
09/08/09 - ?
23/08/09 - ? Blythe Maybe?

This makes things quite cramped in July and August with 5 consecutive weekends racing if you’re doing the nats.

So Northy, would Blythe be up for doing the weekend before the Nats or would it be better to have more space like the beginning of August?

Also I’m quite nervous about Hubbards Bridge as it's never been raced on before. Think I need a status update from them and a plan of how things will be organised and run as it's seemingly a small club with no off road experience.

So Holbeach, West Brigford and Blythe could you get your proposed dates to me ASAP.

Give me a ring this week, if not I’ll call you at the weekend.

Jim 07921 493579

Northy 20-01-2009 09:03 AM

Jim,

We are not allowed to race the weekend before a National.
We have a committee meeting this week, I'll ask them.

Cheers,

G

RSharpy 20-01-2009 10:35 AM

Northy, could the ME & NE run their regionals on the same day at Blyth if everybody was kept seperate and you ran it as two seperate meetings?

Rich :)

blitzboy 20-01-2009 10:37 AM

hubberts bridge will be more than happy to do a meeting jim in the later end of the regionals as for facilities we are well equiped with over night accomadations for those that want to get an early start we have b&b 30 seconds round the corner and a hotel too , club facilities as i said we have the use of the hall for pitting indoors with mains electrics , tables and chair plus a canteen facility too ,,, as for the parking you can see the attached pictures and the field is huge as you will see in the attached picture s as for running the meeting i will be more than happy to run the meeting but also have members that are able to assist and we have amb transopnder systems too , as for equipment we already have safety netting and some track piping jumps are in the process of being designed with the intentions of a table top corner , possably a step up table and at least 3 to 4 other jumps depending on the lay out of track , as for track lay out s i won t dissapoint you guys and will give you a good track with a full 3 metre with too ,, i would suggest you take a trip on friday jim if you can and pop over and have a chat thanks graham
