I mostly run on slippery wood floor (indoors), or sandy astroturf outdoors (both of which can have a tendency for low grip) so the DT rear end might help me?

Or have I got this the wrong way around?

No Chris, the CA kit is a similar chassis to the existing kit. so the new CA 3 gear gearbox will bolt straight on your existing YZ2.

The DT kit has the motor in a more traditional mid position (like Bmax2mr) and as such the chassis will require new mounting holes. I'd suggest the new DT chassis will have a revised design milled differently to the current kit and CA.

Yes the DT rear will help you. I'll be getting one also for our lower traction tracks, and upgrading my current yz2 with the new 3 gear gearbox.

I believe there will be an upgrade pack coming out to bring current yz2 kits to CA spec.

Ahh. I've got it the wrong way around. I will have to see then as I'm not inclined to spend on a new chassis as well as a rear end. Yz2 isn't bad at Batley tracks. I suspect the single biggest influence on my slow lap times is the other side of my Tx 😀

You haven't been to the indoor track much this winter, only three more left. Outdoors is astro, so the original or CA car will be the one you want.
Next winter season indoors we'll be inside on full carpet, so again CA or original car will we what you want.

Has anyone given the DT a try yet? Although I am happy with my 3-gear YZ-2 and TLR 22 3.0, I think it is just too nice to miss. Might have to get one before long, but nothing has been decided as yet.

Hans Wynants 24-04-2016 05:06 PM

very nice safe car. perfect for wet astro . i found the 3-gear very hard to handle in the wet, and the dirt is the safest 2wd car i had ever driven.

bigt 24-04-2016 05:45 PM

have a look at the Kidderminster nationals vids from last week the DT.'s were stupid quick watching Martin an Moss on a drying track I'm ordering a DT transmission for my yz this week as I built my ca on the old chassis

Malyxyx 19-05-2016 09:47 AM

I notce that the New B6 on first impression looks like yz2, and again Yokomo was first to lunch 2 separate versions one for carpet one for dirt, than Associated is gonna do it the same way:woot:.
Strange

discothesnake 19-05-2016 10:01 AM

Not really strange. All manufacturers are going the same way. Xray have done it, Team C have them, Schumacher have about 40! I think Kyosho will end up with something similar.

It seems to be the way with 2wd.

No longer will one car be enough....

Malyxyx 20-05-2016 11:26 AM

Ok didn't know about other companies.
I 100% agree that one car is not enough and there has to be platform designed specially for Astro/carpet which associated in my opinion did not do properly with b5m, but on other hand so far the biggest market for them is US with dirt mostly.
Hopefully B6 story will be different and I should because the won Worlds.

So has anyone tried the new YZ2 CA,is it easier to drive than the old one ? i found the original very twitchy.

Im selling my XB2 and looking try try this or the B6 :)

bigt 20-05-2016 03:45 PM

bit easier / calmer but spins up much quicker I'm really liking it so far dude

Scott_83 22-05-2016 01:59 AM

What's it like in damp conditions

rcpower 22-05-2016 08:26 AM

easier, but certainly not faster. Seems to generate a little less grip.

I have not tested it, but I guess it will be (even) worse than the old car.
The DT version on the other hand is a real joy in the wet!

What are the differences between the standard and the ce. Is it easier changed

Malyxyx 22-05-2016 09:02 PM

Would Anybody have or tried B5m and YZ-2 on astro turf?, what's the impresions between two of them on the same surface, which one would have more grip?. Asking because I have b5m used on astro and thinking about change to yz-2.
