Glad u enjoyed it... bak nxt wk?

dave g 20-02-2009 04:42 PM

yes hopefully :)

why dont we use a laptop tho to count the laps,we can get free race software so its just a case of the girls pressing numbers on the laptop when the cars come round and you get a proper split time on the race...and once everyones details are in the laptop it makes booking in so much simpler the week after and auto sorting of heats/finals.

i can always put it on my lappy or bally said he could on his.

emtee 21-02-2009 10:49 PM

Yes it would be a good idea... but you know we are a small club... but speak to Si or Caz about it... you never know, if we keep getting a good turnout the sky is the limit...!

I have a few ideas to improve/expand the race experience concerning the track... cross-overs, rumble strips, flip-flops, a few jumps :woot: (but not at the cost of good driving rather than speed) if I can convince Si...

good to hear some new ideas being voiced tho'... but remember, it is Si's club and when I joined up summer last year he kinda wanted to keep it simple and fun... ;)

using a laptop wil make it simpler, no need for using 20 sheets of a4 every race meet etc. Laps" i think it is, is free software. this would probably giv us an extra round because bookin in and workin out results would be far quicker.

so...did everyone enjoy the new laptiming then?

emtee 26-02-2009 05:53 PM

I really enjoyed the convenience of the laptiming gear... shame it doesn't belong to Si... ;)

dave g 26-02-2009 05:55 PM

doesnt really matter, bally will bring it down every time :)

andy 26-02-2009 06:28 PM

yes it was great well done to all concerned:thumbsup:

emtee 27-02-2009 07:55 AM

How did you guys feel about the track?

dave g 27-02-2009 10:09 AM

track was ok..a couple more little jumps in and thats it i think.

now i know a lot of people will say that the less talented can struggle on the bumps etc,but with a little advice from us they were getting used to them and learning that you cant go flat out everywhere, hopefully they take this in and learn to use that on the rest of the track and enjoy their racing more instead of crashing everywhere :)

emtee 27-02-2009 11:03 AM

There are a couple of little "flip-flop" ramps in Si's store... about 6-8" high I think? These could be incorporated very easily as flip-flops OR maybe as a cross-over jump even :woot: ...! Ave lap time @ 13 secs with the top A drivers lapping @ 9 secs Wed nite...

dave g 27-02-2009 12:00 PM

yes we were well into the 9 second laps,i need some more tyres tho as mine are shot and i was struggling thru the tight hairpins, might have to look at some foams.

anything will do,some of the half-round guttering pipe makes nice little 'woops' sections,3 or 4 of them across the track under the carpet makes a nice rythmn section and will also make the lap times longer.

emtee 27-02-2009 12:08 PM

When you say whoops, a bit like the little section between the start line and the timing loop on Wed, but a bit bigger?

Would the saloons struggle with anything bigger than what we had do you think?

On the subject of foams, I have a set of 1/10th 40's you can have... prob would need cutting as the rears are @30mm wide 'n the fronts are @25mm...

dave g 27-02-2009 12:12 PM

the ones we had near the start were square blocked, thats why the saloons were thumping them,i think the round ones would be fine, but its all a learning curve for us regards setting the tracks for micros.

yes like at the start, you can do say 3 really close so you have to roll them all or spread them out a little so you have to jump 1,then jump 2 etc.

dave g 09-03-2009 12:04 PM

i heard a rumour that the club will only be open for a few more weeks as it usually closes when the nights get lighter until about september time..is this true?

and i think its related to the low turnout of drivers when the nights get lighter?
just would like to know before i upgrade my micro please.

cheers
dave

Well, we are on for the next 2-3 wednesdays 'n then we will go to fortnightly mid April.... then keep it fortnightly 'til the schools break up for summer then into the summer hols if the numbers keep turning up... It all depends on the interest... if you wanna race say so...we did have a break last year tho' as the income from racers who turned up did not cover the rental of the hall.... but this year so far we have had a good turnout, so fingers crossed....! Hey, but go ahead, upgrade... we will always be back if we do have a break... this is long term commitment we're talking here!

A few more track features are gonna be added in the coming days... we have a table top and a couple more ramps ready to go now... and then... possible plans for a banked hairpin and a crossover c/w elevated section!!!

Tell anyone who will listen fellah... spread the word... 1/18th scale? I've seen it... it's the future..! (along with garlic bread...)

MRD 10-03-2009 07:07 PM

We wont be making it tommorow, and I dont think any of our usual group is going either so it might be a poor turnout. I'll see if I can get my Shark fixed for next week.

dave g 11-03-2009 01:52 PM

does anyone have any 2mm bore pinions to fit the blaze,i have ordered some and some spur gear sets but they havent turned up..typical!

im running a 45t spur and 14t pinion and need to gear down to around a 10 or 12t pinion.

or i can make a sleeve to fit the 2mm motorshaft to pack it up to fit normal bore pinions if needed.
