bonus, that will save me some cash

I know one of the guys that organised the EIR in Laon, this year and spoke him about it.
Seems they defenetly want to organise a new race but are still in planning and mindstorming-fase.

about PetitRC, I received a mail not long ago, explaning that the PetitRC-people encountered problems in finding a proper location. They went as far as looking for a location in Spain, but haven't found anything yet.

...
but as I write this and check more sources I found this on their site, hot news:

I know!! It's a great venue!

David Church 24-10-2008 06:15 PM

Sweet!!!!! 20 miles from my house!!!!! They have a great facility there, currently running on road only but have space for a proper indoor off road track, I for 1 am hoping this is true and will happen!!!!

Cockerill 24-10-2008 06:19 PM

It looks like the perfect place to fill with dirt and have a proper track, or is that wishful thinking? :woot:

Now you are talking!!!!!! Indoor dirt track, consistent weather conditions, close to the continent, perfect for the Euro's!!!!!!

Ok, your back in the room!!!!!:woot:

Fabs 24-10-2008 06:42 PM

Lol,

Don't get too excited about dirt it won't happen... :p

The TC room will be used for a few good reasons, the first good reason is that the future Off Road room is in no state to host a track. The other good reason is that the people at maritime have already put in a LOT of effort into that room, and it would be asking a bit too much to get the second room up and running in 3 months...

So the track will be laid over the current TC track. There will be a wall of death, probably a section on the wooden floor at the far end if we deem it useable (the main concern being on drivers being able to see it), the maritime crew have a few good ideas, for example we are thinking about astro turf, for at least a part of the track (how DEER is that thing by the way???).

I think Nicolas went a bit optimistic about the 4 live webcams, but we're looking at it...

What is for sure is that Maritime is, in my opinion, the best permanent indoor venue in the country and hosting this race is a fitting reward for their effort and I am really pleased that they have been chosen. Oh and Ian is the best race director i've ever met, expect no delays on race day (be a bit of a contrast to last year...).

Fabs 24-10-2008 06:45 PM

Oh and dare I say that I'm hoping that a lot of UK racers will make it to this race? We are planning on 150 entries per class

David Church 24-10-2008 06:51 PM

This is relly good news, especially if you live down south!!!!
I figured they would cover the TC surface, to delicate for buggies, if it wasn't we would be racing there regular like!!!!
Ian is a great guy and runs a very effiicient meeting!!!! He ran some of our regional series not too long ago.
It would be great to see an indoor track around here where you can run modified motors:thumbsup:(not taking anything awat from FORCC)

Fabs 24-10-2008 07:44 PM

As i understand the race will be a great way for the club to promote their venue and get a head start with racing buggies.
