I am easy either way on the truck style. Short Course will allow for a bit more 'contact' but the stadiums are what we are used to. Looks like the majority have SC trucks though.
|
Most are running sc, but stadiums are cooler so you can join me and maybe some others and destroy the sc's on track:D

Hi gents and gentettes, just a quick question for a newbie to this sport, whats the difference from a short course truck like the 1/10 traxxas slash or hpi blitz, and a stadium truck? Also is there a commonly used favorite when it comes to 2wd sct in UK? Im really looking forqard to making to jump from scale 4x4 to truck racing!
Thanks Stevo |
The difference between a short course (sct) and stadium truck is the scale look of the short course truck with the sct wheels covered by the shell.
I used a AE SC10 2wd truck last year, I have now got myself a Durango 4wd truck to run this year at Southport. |
Thanks for the help! Do most people here use team asso 2wd or is it literally a total mix of all manufactures?
|
Check silverstoneRCMCCC a stadium truck revival is planned
|
I don't think any team dominates 2wd sct but most of the stadiums were either AE or X60's.
Not an expert here, I can only say what happens at Southport other tracks may be different. Southport will be running an open truck class so a heady mix of stadiums and SCT should deffo make it fun. |
Team C and Durango 2wd SCT seem quite popular. But, for me it has to be the DESC410 4wd for ultimate fun.
I ran a Stadium truck, but found it was so similar to racing a buggy that I didn't use it much. Since moving from Stadium to Short Course I find they are quite different to buggy racing and require different handling techniques, especially on the corners. So well worth racing the class just for variety. |
Three counties are running a stadium truck class at their grass track in towcester if they can get enough interest.

The traxxas slash is easily the worst car to race with, the cg is that of a monster truck. Many people race them successfully with the Pro-Line lcg conversion or the traxxas rally chassis for the 4wd.
|
If you look at the design of the slash the diffs are below the chassis and the lipo and electrics are about 2" off the ground so have a horrific CG
|
We have been trying to encourage the trucks for the last 2years at the Short Course Nationals , I think we had 1 book in last year.
There is an open wheel class this year for both truck and sc buggy,s , I've converted my old SC10 into a T4 with hopes of the class growing. |
