Good deal ?

h0m3sy

I would say so if you were going to go out and get this spec separately, and boy what a set up! I bought the Nova BTT engine and 2096 pipe 2 months ago for the 2013 season (not the limited wc version) and shelled out circa £340. Set of pre glued AKA's circa £38, plus TKi3 kit at £640 ish, and I make that £1018. Bargain in my opinion, plus JE Models have always been an ace source of advice on my MP9. Ask for Nick!

Ordered

Nice one h0m3sy, you'll enjoy it man!

I've been researching myself for a few weeks electric 1/8th scale again for 2013 to run alongside my Mp9. I'm planning on running in addition to the nitro an 1/8th electric class this year. Anyone out there with an MP9e and or experience of Tekno RC conversions. I'd like to hear about which motor /esc combo is a good bet. (currently favouring LRP/Tekin) I see Orion have launched a new 1/8th scale brushless motor, a new esc about to land? I'll raise the query in the 8th scale electric forum if not, but as my query is Kyosho specific I felt it was ok to ask?

IIRC, Kyosho have their own conversion kit: KYOIFW451

I will probably convert my Tki3 to electric power next year when I pick up a new car at the start of the season. Extra running at the big events! Also electric should be getting more popular in the next few years.

Chris,
That conversion set has been discontinued some years ago when the MP9E was released. you can buy the parts individually if you wish.

We recommend the Orion Pro R8 for the MP9E
lots of motor to choose from.

h0m3sy 24-02-2013 08:47 AM

What other body shells fit the tki3 apart from the kit one?

Chris-S 24-02-2013 06:22 PM

There is a Kyosho cab forward and also one from bitty design

Just posted some pics and info on a Tekno V4 Kyosho MP9 (e) conversion I've just finished in the 1/8th Electric offroad pic thread thread for anyone who's interested.

Just going to start building the MP9 today. First up looks like the diffs need building. How far do we fill up the diff with oil, as this is not really made clear in the manual?

Have a look at this video....

Thanks for that. Pain in the backside having to build these diffs though! Can anyone answer, how tight should I be screwing in the diff plate? If I go to tighten the max, then there is no movement when I manually turn the diff; but if I loosen off a tad, then they do turn. Any ideas?

Make sure the larger diff gears are seated properly on the output shafts.

Make sure the screws are going into the designated holes in the diff casing and make sure all the gears are properly seated before tightening.

Ta muchly! I have sorted the darn things now, and now it is coming along quite quickly. I suspected the diffs would be the toughest part, so this looks like I am through the toughest part now:lol:

trr061984 11-04-2013 03:14 PM

Things are progressing much more smoothly now with the TKI3. Got the rear suspension all sorted, so I am moving onto the front section now.

As a guesstimate, how long does this thing take to build? Spend 4/5 hours and I only have the first 11 section done (out of 50!). A whole week of work ahead by the looks of it!

MattPR8 11-04-2013 10:36 PM

As a roller without the radio installed, it should only take a day or two.

trr061984 12-07-2013 01:28 AM

Well, I have been running the MP9 TKi3 for the past 4 weeks or so, and I can only report positive things. The smoothness of the drive train is really quite remarkable and it is so easy to drive.

Now, such is my happiness with the Tki3, that I am thinking of getting another and converting it to electric. Is there a conversion pack out there for this? Or is there a Tki3 in electric coming out soon

Neil Skull 12-07-2013 08:49 AM

Best wait for that then?

Is it exactly the same as the TKI3 minus the nitro fitting parts? Only downside is I have to build the thing!
