fine by me too.

Would pay a bit more if i got some stickers thrown in with subscription too ;)

More than happy to donate some money.

I have seen forums die through subscriptions where the free content was restricted too much so would urge caution there. I am also on many forums where the subscriber gets perks.

Maybe you could give subscribers a higher priority in the Invernational ?

I'll chip in!

I'd be more than happy to donate/subscribe to oople and pay a set fee to buy/sell on here too

neiloliver 19-01-2013 11:33 AM

I have no problem with making donations and have done so in the past. Subscription might be fine those who have been on oOple for some time but might put off newer members, Paying a percentage of sales value towards oOple does seem like a VERY good idea but might take some work to control it.

This is a great website, only been racing for about 9 months so still new but the amount of information I've gotten from here about set up's problems I've had with the car an just general advice really is priceless. I'd b more then happy to make a donation

Keep up the good works guy an gals

I personally think there should be 2 types of subscription

Free which allows access to oople forum

Payed that allows you to use the for sale section as well.

Other forums do this and is fairest option in my eyes.

Oople

£1 is the bargain of the year as I really like this forum.

TARTMAN 19-01-2013 11:53 AM

GREAT

Looks like its a winner for donations/subs etc.

I like the donate £1 idea for a starter.

At some point a paid for/free version like mentioned would definatly work in my opinion.

How much and what you get for it etc is going to be something of a debate in itself, so for now, lets get a donation page/link up so we can chuck a few quid to get the right servers etc done.

Then the next stage........................

I will get hold of Jimmy and sort out the link etc.

Count me in - just give also an IBAN Number and account name holder for those willing to do a bank transfer (not only for the 1pound donation but also if you want to buy T-Shirt etc)

SiTrace 19-01-2013 12:09 PM

I've donated a few times on a PayPal address that used to be in the top corner of the forums page but it disappeared last year when they started taking payment for the oople race 2012 haven't seen it since and I've looked through the forum it's nowhere

I'd be happy to donate/subscribe to the up keep/wages for all the hard graft that goes on behind the forum ie race reports. 18000 members I'm sure if only 10% donated what they could afford it would make a huge differance

I don't mind either way subscription or donation I am never off it so paying towards its keep seems fair like

Cream 19-01-2013 12:35 PM

I've sent you a PM Jimmy. Still looking for the donation button that seems to have dissapeared off the header?

Collegeboy 19-01-2013 01:29 PM

Count me in as well. I'm happy to either donate or go down the road of a yearly subscription. Keep up the great work all of you who are involved with the daily running of this great site.

Hi all,

Haven't read all the posts, sorry if I'm repeating someone else's thoughts.
You need google adsense and about 30,000 hits a day to keep a family living off a website. I know redrc.net has had 30,000 hits on a day, but don't know how regular this is.

I know Jimmy has said that he doesn't want to sell out (and his ass :p) by covering the site in advertising, but I personally don't see the problem in covering the "News" section in advertising and puting a paypal donate button on the top of the forum. Ads sold directly to a client can bring in about £25 a month (generally 320x75 pixels), more if you offer exclusivity in sections and links directly from product reviews to a shop. Large banner ads (180x600) can get £100 a month......Financial issues would be quickly quashed if this was implemented.

Just to say, I'd happily donate a tenner if the Donate button was put up.

Steven Forster 19-01-2013 02:07 PM

How about £1 a month so all new potential racers/bashers dont get put off by a yearly fee if they only use the site a few times and can have use of the full site for the full month.........OR £10 yearly subscription for those who use the site all the time ???

I would make a donation also
