Tamiya are really quite bad at showing off their wares :o- I've no idea what this is until someone does Tamiyas job for them and gets some photos out.

DCM 04-08-2008 09:58 AM

I got this feeling that it is adjustable front and rear, but not to sure, looking at the parts list on TamiyaUSA.... as soon as someone find one online, let me know, I will buy it!

GRIFF55 04-08-2008 10:12 AM

How is there no support/team in the uk for Tamiya? Bit strange considering we are one of the strongest nations for 10th offroad.
Or is there one?:eh?:

DCM 04-08-2008 10:23 AM

the distributor, Hobby Co, don't support a team, they barely support the TRF cars, and parts support is nearly nil...... so everyone shops abroad for their stuff mostly, mores the shame!

jimmy 04-08-2008 10:45 AM

I'm the support team at Nationals - ask Damo! :woot:

$87 MSRP! yikes! ... and not compatible with the new center one-way.

So, wtf, this thing is able to handle 3.5 brushless motors? bmag needs one, go tell him. :P

DaveG28 04-08-2008 11:08 PM

God knows what this does, someone buy one!!

Looks like the centre shaft comes with it.

jimmy 04-08-2008 11:28 PM

it sounds ACE - no one knows what it is or what it does - but it's expensive and the standard slipper is already good.
Agreed tho, someone buy one so we can see what the chuff it is.:D

bender 05-08-2008 10:39 AM

By the looks of it it will also be available for the 501 as Tamiya are also releasing:

TRF501X Center Shaft for Double Slipper Clutch
Item No.84034

DCM 06-08-2008 11:37 AM

I got one coming!!

Recycle 08-08-2008 10:05 AM

As claimed by Tamiya(Japan), when front and rear slipped same time, such as land after jump or a bumpy surface, the acceleration will be a bit late.
But the new slipper allow front and rear drive train to slip independently, therefore to maintain maximum traction and more quick acceleration.

wow tamiya really is creative on making hop ups for their kits eh??
a budget kit with expensive hop ups
well anyway i still love my durga trying to spend as little hop up as possible on this kit and maximise the full potential of it

Hi guys, I've found some image of this thing, but it's disassembled :(

DCM 11-08-2008 06:31 PM

Right, just finished building my Double slipper clutch, and what a clever design indeed.

Right, here we go, the outer plate drives the layshaft, which in turn, is connected to the front belt pullet. The inner plate is, in turn, connected to the rear belt pulley, the rear pulley hub sits on a bearing, which sits on the laysheft, so it is supported but is able to rotate at a different speed to the layshaft.

So, in effect, it is a slipper which can slip the front and rear belts seperately..... see how it goes on the weekend me thinks....

Pics to follow.
