I know Craig was unfortunate to miss on the A, but I don't know where you all ended up...

Well what can i say, missed out on the A final by 0.06 of a second!!! Finished 6th in round 4 and needed 5th in round to put it in the A-main. Just missed out and qualified pole in the B.

Still not bad considering ive only done around 5 meetings with the car and its improving all the time.

Still a few things i want to try but havnt had the track time to do so.

Ill be racing the car again this weekend and will have my first real chance to play around with set ups without worrying too much about the result. The car is so easy to drive with the rear end been so locked in. For me i need a little more steering which ill be concentrating on this weekend. Ill keep you all posted as to how it goes and what ive changed to my set up.

As for instance:

what do you guys use as bump-steer-setting: no washers? or do you use 1mm, 2mm, ...?

Hey Ludo,

In my case that depends on the front end setup. I always try to run no bump steer. As a general thing, that means 3mm washer when running 30 deg kick up, and none when running 25 degrees.

However if there is a lot of camber change from the top link setting, it could be necessary to add 1mm washer.

Mine's finished and ran it last night a whole lot easier to drive than the rear motor. Just suffering with a little lack of steering :confused: but on the whole a great car. :thumbsup:

Yes from Andy the setup was straight from my SP2, so will be playing with setup next weekend. Will you be suppling spare parts direct, gearbox case, shock tower etc?

Yep I will. Am having some spare towers made atm, gearboxes for now are not readily available but will be soon I hope.

i got mine going yesterday. track was a little damp and thin sandy layer. slippery to say the least.
i was using old tires which didn't help but i was very satisfied with the car. no major dramas from the mid-conversion chassis. i felt more able to push it through the turns, just like my x6^2.
i took my time to build it making sure all parts & screws fit, as per build instructions, therefore took longer than expected. (looking after a 4y.o and carrying a 2month old in a baby carrier whilst trying to balance cooking & car-wrenching don't help either)

1 thing i noticed though, my diff was really noisy. is that normal?
do u guys run 2x SP idlers or 1xSP + 1x stock idler?
i'm running mine with both SP idlers. diff was built using kyosho clear diff oil/grease.

very happy with the quality of the build. it's fantastic!
can't wait to have more run time. :thumbsup:

Yep the gearbox is noisier than the RB5 gearbox. This is down to the material of the gearbox, I won't bore you with the specifics but to sum it up, the plastic used for the gearbox has a tendancy to amplify the noise from the gears rather than diminish them like nylon does. No biggie other than it sounds like it's gonna blow itself apart, which it doesn't of course.

To the attention to people waiting on news for their cars:

It's taking longer than antecipated to have the second batch of gearboxes as the guy making them does them on his own spare time at work, but is very busy at the moment.

And as things happen, I'm leaving on wednesday for the euros, I therefore won't be able to send any cars before the 1st of september. I really apologize but there is nothing I can do right now.

Fabs, mate, could I order a spare gearbox + a spare rear shocktower?
The gearbox is just to have in case off ...
The rear shocktower: mine broke broke when I flipped the car after a small but difficult jump :confused: ... but I guess it had much to do with the fact that 5 minutes earlier another driver crashed really hard into my car from behind. I wanted to take a jump securely, he wanted to just jump over all other drivers I guess. Unfortunatly my RB5 MCS was in his path.

I discovered something when tuning the car: I added some weights (lead) just behind the battery-pack, on both sides of the motor, so that the car was better balanced. I must have added about 40 grams, I think.
It made the car much steadier.
I also measured it (with a balance and a calculater :thumbsup:) and it gave the car a front-rear-weight ratio of 63% (63% of the weight on the rear-wheels of the car).

I'm also starting to tune the car up on our BCA-track (the EIR-track) to prepare for the upcomming BRCC Winter Trophy, and the next EIR-competition.

I don't have any spare gearboxes at the moment but as soon as I do I'll let you all know. Will you want a shock tower right away or will you want to wait for the gearbox? I'm leaving for the euros soon...

You could bring shocktower with you at euro's, we can give it to Ludo when we get back.

there is no real urgency about the gearbox as i do not expect problems with my original gearbox.
But I certainly could use the shocktowers as I used my spare one and have none left.

i guess my response is a bit late (but i was mostly offline, travelling with my motorbike), but yes, the idea of passing on the shocktowers to Cooper seems a good one for me.

Well the 2WD euros are now over. We have a new champion but most of all I have a setup for dirt that works quite well. Made the G final which fulfilled my objective of being top half. A little disappointed however as it could've been much higher. A great experience nonetheless.

hi fabs i have just bought chassis number 6 off a guy on oople and i am in need of a new gearbox casing as the thread has gone were it screws to the chassis , if you could let me know as soon as you have some please as i dont want to run the car as it is , cheers
