madwestmo 06-07-2009 02:34 PM

staggered fronts work well on astro getting around no probs on a twisty track

madwestmo 07-07-2009 12:13 PM

hmmm i ran staggered fronts at the weekend on astro turf and they was quite poor , mind you the astroturf was slightly damp , what inserts u run in them ?

carty 07-07-2009 02:31 PM

went with stock inserts

If it's Damp astro you'd find Green minispikes all round better then yellows, and i'm sure you'll have more steering compared to Staggered ribs anyway.

madwestmo 07-07-2009 02:54 PM

any settings i can change on the car at the moment to give more steering with the staggered ribs ?

You could try running it slightly softer in the front, move some weights forward, stand the shock's up a tad or equally stiffen up the rear end a tad - should all help!

madwestmo 07-07-2009 03:46 PM

Ok i tried putting a little bit of weight on the front and seems better already , what sort of weight should the whole car be weighing , as im using lipo ,u may see i have no idea about 2wd buggys :)

Also im going to be replacing the plastic shocks with b4 shocks , what springs front and back do i need to use for astroturf ??

Thanks again :)

This is the set up i ended with last week, may not work for others but it does me

weights 20g in the front bulkhead,40g lead plate under servo,20g behind the servo,60g lead plate under lipo,10g in rear bulkhead

front shocks 32.5 losi oil yokomo black springs 2 hole pistons middle on tower outer wishbone

rear shocks 25 losi oil yokomo orange springs 1 hole pistons middle tower inner wishbone

other settings as per kit

core 5000 lipo novak 6.5 gearing 23pinion 80spur

like i say it may be way out for some but it worked well for me

DCM 07-07-2009 05:10 PM

what pistons are you using?

Battle_axe 08-07-2009 10:44 AM

has anyone got a base setup for a clay track this will be my first meat with the madrat at the proline dirt arena i wanna get it set up before i get there?

DCM 08-07-2009 10:49 AM

25wt rear, 35wt front, or 30, I think you have to run proline tyres there?

had a great night raceing tonight qualified second on the B final however i broke a ball stud in the final and didnt finnish also stripped a spur in the 1st heat do any of you guys know what spur gears will fit or is it just the kit ones?

Jamie.T 09-07-2009 08:30 AM

I believe only the kit ones fit. But im sure you could try and adapt one off a B4 as they look fairly close.

DCM 09-07-2009 09:03 AM

the closest one, would be the Kyosho, but I really don't know if the pads and spur would line up.
