Its the kind of thing I would do, but I was far too busy grinding all the welds flat so they look pretty. Jim had to unplug my grinder in the end because it was getting late :(.

I'd love to go back to finish it off but I don't know when I'll be getting a free weekend. Ive been on holiday this week so it was fine but I'm a bit short of time from now on.

Whiskers 01-05-2011 11:33 AM

Is there going to be a roof on the rostrum?

With all this sun and wind ??
The windmills are going to be built first, then the electrickery they produce will pay for a roof.

What:confused:

I have offers to build anything you need and can help with some of the timber costs I have been a carpenter for over 8 years. I have all the kit needed I would lay out softwood decking for the floor allowing for water drainage. The roof can be done the same as Southport's, easy weekends work.

Or are the two containers in the pics owned by the club? if they are just put a hand rail round the top of one and have a ladder that can be removed at the end the race meet so nobody can climb up most probably the cheapest option

Good to see you went with my idea for the rostrum:thumbsup:looks great I am going down tommorow and I will measure up to see if I have enough timber for you not sure yet because it looks huge

Stotty 01-05-2011 06:02 PM

Going off what Rog said last week the first race should be this sunday (may 8th)

tisher 02-05-2011 10:20 AM

just had a play at goshen rostrum is ace sand is a killer tho all three of us did in our spurs and few other bits:cry:your going to need a serious hoover to get it ready to race on but on the plus side jumps where great and the track looks like it will be very technical lots of possibilities for track lay out and a really good size to. very fast track with loads of grip can not wait to race on it proper. Rog I dont think I have enough timber to do the size of the rostrum but your welcome to the amount that I have got;)

Stotty 02-05-2011 06:51 PM

Hopfully can get my car build up again by sunday 8th :D

captainlip 02-05-2011 09:16 PM

What's really needed now is the skirting around the edge it's so easy to do and measure up and will reduce cars being written off on the posts

As for the floor being catapulted off I mean the top of the crates pops if you stand in the wong place lol

Si Coe 02-05-2011 09:55 PM

The flooring is for two reasons:

1) Because it gets very noisy underneath and Rog can't hear! Likewise anyone operating in the storage cabin gets deafened.

2) Without some really good rain protection, that rostrum is going to get wet, and when it does it will be very slippery. Even a roof won't completely prevent a wet floor.

captainlip 03-05-2011 08:14 AM

If we put a roof on we'll have the same issue with the local scum giving then a place to get drunk and sleep under again!

BillyB 03-05-2011 08:56 AM

just needs some shed roofing puttin down for grip n yep front ends will have many delights on them fence posts:woot:

budfish 03-05-2011 09:27 AM

Now now boys don't say anything negative it will put people off you know is not "FINISHED"

pugboy 03-05-2011 10:23 AM

Looks like it's almost there, am really looking forward to racing on it.

I reckon for the fence post protection, it will be a case of nailing some plywood about a foot wide, either to the whole inside of that fence, or at least the main straight, I think Southport have something similar on the outside of their track at the end of their main straight, I know cause I have clattered it a fair few times, and not once has it broken my car.

One other thing, you may not agree but I'm wondering if the rostrum might be better a metre or so back from the track to help with visibility. I've noticed on tracks where the rostrum is very close that there are issues with other drivers and their transmitters obstructing views of some drivers. Just a thought...

The pipe

1.2megabytes and it's still not long enough.......
Enough to get us started though eh? (50Metres.)
Just need a way if fixing it down.
