Someone was selling the new BB 'studs' as Vermin bought a set, but they don't say 'studs' on the label if I remember correctly.....

This National was very good!

I thought the track was great, I only competed in 4wd, the fact some parts of the track were difficult (it was hard to do perfect laps over and over), all added to the overall fun.

Yes I was annoyed at the time that I was unable to complete a round without making an error, but that’s all part of the challenge. I’d rather a hard track than a flat easy one, also I thought it was good that even the top guys struggled (carpet section), this added to the tension of the day especially the finals (also made me feel better that it wasn’t just me struggling).

Really enjoyed putting the power down on the main straight, chucking the car at the first banked corner and being amazed to see my car make the turn (99.9% of the time), was a lotta fun lap after lap.

The club members supporting the event were brilliant, marshalling during practice, picking up trannys and transponders (very helpful as I was missing my pit bitch), I hope the club gets a national next year.

Top effort, thanks to everyone involved. :)

the bit with the 2 shallow whoops 'under' it.

Brian refered to that as the carpet section.

Chrislong 03-06-2008 05:09 PM

Ah yeh, forgot about them, but now I remember - they were a pointless feature which just added randomness.

ben 03-06-2008 05:15 PM

I wouldnt say pointless chris. They seem to catch even the top drivers out.

KevLee 03-06-2008 05:22 PM

That wasn't the only carpet section i had an issue with! In the last leg of the A i managed to go underneath the carpet on the second from last jump before the straight :(. It was the only time i saw anyone manage it so i suppose i'm quite special :)

Great meeting though, i really enjoyed it. Well done to all the Taly lads

Back off topic:

1. Was using 2.2 wheels, just standard 501x ones, and they looked like minispikes to me, but isn't front tyre choice free anyway, thought only the rears were regulated?

2. The fitting problem is probably down to how they sit on the rim rather than just size, I don't cut down the tyres at all so they don't always sit right, with Schumi's I often have similar problems on the back?

3. Dom, were these "new" type tyres in anyway, or just as per previous sets?

Totally disagree Chris, it was faster to jump it but not everyone could do it consistently so some rolled it and some jumped it. I was a jumper and made 3 overtakes in the final over it, yet another good feature IMHO:)

Kopite 03-06-2008 06:56 PM

I loved the table tops and the 'whoops' section. Granted, i was shit over them, but they were decent features!

I don't think i've ever been to a track where there was such a wide spread opinion on tyre choices though. I tried schuey blues, yellows, greens and ballistic greens, and never actually worked out which ones i felt was the best. Made things very interesting.....

telboy 03-06-2008 06:57 PM

In 2wd with the X6 I could just nail it over them (the carpet whooops) and land on the other side.....as Stu Evans found out in the final, sorry Stu.

But in 4wd, I had to tip toe over them cos when I nail it in the other direction it just kicked the D4 into all sorts of shapes and I usually ended up, upside down.

Congrats to all the Taly boys. Great track and good venue. The track was challenging which is how it should be. Lets hope they get another:thumbsup:

Funnily enough 1 of the moves I made in the final over the whoops was on a D4 . You just needed a slightly different line onto them and Whooooop!!
