Some pictures I took this weekend in San Diego. Mostly I focused on video this year, so my pictures are lacking. Thus far I've uploaded one video on the bottom there.

The stage wasn't terribly interesting and had a few very distracting bits on it so I decided to nuke it :p

The first image looks like a cracking location. Love the lighting, especially on the hair.
Hope you don't mind a few suggestions.... Try cropping it so that Hanna's head is not dead square in the middle of the image. Had she been looking straight to the camera I feel it would have been a stronger image. Keep wondering what she is looking at. Be careful too with arms and hands. We are taught to read from left to right and from top to bottom....her arms tend to draw the viewer away from her face to the bottom of the image. The second image and the "tree"! I'd crop the image above the elbows as the posing of the hands are a bit distracting. Have you tried this in Black and white or Sepia? A wee touch of flash or a bit of light reflected back into Hanna's face would brighten her eyes. I know it's far easier to critisise that it is to take the shot in the first place. There is nothing "wrong" with your portraits and I'm sure the both of you are really pleased with the results :) |
None has really given me any kind of critisism on these pictures, a shame really.
The light was manufactured by me using some building lights through a huge screen made of a wood frame and old bedsheets. Take what you have. I cant agree with you anymore on these shots, to many mistakes were made. But (i know its and excuse...but..whatev..) it was my first time really planning a shot and the light. I didnt have a reflector at the time and just got it and i hate it that i didnt get one before the shoot. Heres another version of one of the shots, but i dont really like it as much, the fact that her arms are cut off is way to disctracting to me. Anyway, ill post more of these pics. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3179/...a3f0ed6e_o.jpg |
Lots of great photos in here :).
Here's a few i took one my trip to South Africa. Constructive criticism? Thanks |
Those are some supahr pictures. Altought i kind of feel that the elephant the the rhino is kind of tightly cropped.
I really love the colors in the picture with the gravel road. Lovely |
I was bored so I edited a few shots from my holidays earlier in the year, so here is Monaco in Miniature!

Mole2k: love those shots, but i do feel that you could have taken those photos further with even more masking (more effect).
|
Love this effect when done right, of yours I think the third one works best, plenty of height but not too much depth in the scene. Applied this effect to my pic of Staithes a few weeks back, will dig out the result.
Few random survivors from the past couple of weeks: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...eflections.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a.../structure.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/thingies.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...oncy/vpano.jpg |

Saw this done in one of the Photo mags last month by some french bloke I think. Looks smart and very deceiving. |
How is it done?

It's basically mimicking what your eyes expect to see from a photograph of a model with the narrow depth of field which I added in PP.
To do the effect properly you need a tilt/shift lens which allows you to move the front half of the lens to adjust the focal plane, either by making it appear larger or smaller, you make it appear smaller for the fake miniature effect or for landscapes giving you front to back sharpness. Ideally I would love something like the Canon 24mm T/S lens but for all I would use it I cant justify the cost. |

The pictures on here are bloody amasing! Mole2k those miniture jobbys are freaky, never seen that done before. I was looking at them thinking whats going on here, really clever stuff. How much time goes into each one to get that effect?
Sam edit just had a play with this on Photoshop, what fun !! |
