Looking the part

All brushed in

but the wrong sand is used so the big granules wont brush in. Maybe they will "Blow" away.

Track lay out

Now looking good? so how's the track lay out going to work?? are you going to use gutters/fire hose?? or will you be adding kerbs and islands as well! similar to Southport?

captainlip 21-04-2011 11:15 PM

Was going to say about the sand, it's far to dense, will take ages to fall through the pile, what's the deal with the pinning of the carpet rog? If not we need to get about 200 pins and a mallet

Right been down to goshen and here's the feedback...

1 the sand is insane, clearly the wrong sand for the carpet pile, protect those electrics as much as you can, b44 guys won't need to worry but myself on two occasions got sand between spur and pinion causing damage.
We really need to shift this sand, when it's sorted though it's going to be awesome!

2 stones, we need a 15 minute team effort to remove the larger hardcore stones, it's a quick job.

3 fencing on the fence needs putting up and the shop end as I flew through it :D

4 tyres.... Spikes are a must anything else and it just skates on the surface.

5 we need to pin the carpet down as this hasn't been done, due to size I would normally put about 250 - 300 pins in there

The main issue is the sand and protecting the electircs and gears. Before we race we really need half hour with blowers and brushes to clear as much sand as possible!

Whiskers 22-04-2011 11:56 AM

B44 drivers do need to worry because after about 30 minutes of running I had four or five grains stuck in my spur gear which also caused damage to the pinion.

Yup same here the sand really needs sorting before racing on it. Whoever decided on that grade of sand should have spoken to an astro turf expert first lol.

"Shock Sox" is what you need. Available in Red, Flourecent Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue. £2.50 from Woodys Wizbits.

The blower works but as the car goes over the blown area it flicks up the sand.
We don't need pins, it's all stuck together so it "aint gonna move".

mattb 22-04-2011 03:48 PM
